Position Sensorless Control of PMSM Drive for Electro-Hydraulic Brake Systems

  • This study proposed a fault tolerant control algorithm for electro-hydraulic brake systems where permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive is adopted to boost the braking pressure. To cope with motor position sensor faults in the PMSM drive, a braking pressure controller based on an open-loop speed control method for the PMSM was proposed. The magnitude of the current vector was determined from the target braking pressure, and motor rotational speed was derived from the pressure control error to build up the braking pressure. The position offset of the pump piston resulting from a leak in the hydraulic system is also compensated for using the open-loop speed control by moving the piston backward until it is blocked at the end of stroke position. The performance and stability of the proposed controller were experimentally verified. According to the results, the control algorithm can be utilized as an effective means of degraded control for electro-hydraulic brake systems in the case that a motor position sensor fault occurs.

  • In this paper, the PID controller and Kalman filter are applied to improve the automobile cruise control in the environment with disturbance and noise, and the performance is verified through diverse simulation. First, a mathematical model for a automobile cruise control system is introduced. Second, the performance degradation due to disturbance in the basic open-loop control based cruise control system is shown and then PID controller-based feedback control system to resolve this problem is verified. Third, to improve the performance degradation due to sensor noise that may occur during the feedback process, a Kalman filter is applied and verified. Ultimately, it is verified that the designed cruise control system with PID controller and Kalman filter not only satisfies all performance conditions but also has the ability for disturbance rejection and noise reduction.

  • In this paper, a brief discussion on I-PD position controller design for step motor drive is presented. The proposed method mainly focuses on the robustness property of the controller, which is very important for this type of system in which the variation of external load affects plant parameters. It is considered in this paper that two types of controller design methods namely; Coefficient Diagram Method (CDM), and arbitrary Pole Assignment Method (PAM) are treated and compared them. The control plant chosen for our study is a SM inherently is comprised of some non-linear elements. A the scope of the design method is limited to only linear time invariant systems, the SM modeling is approximated to linear system.

  • In this study, computational demonstrations for the flutter suppression are presented for the 3-DOF airfoil system with oscillating flap. Advanced computational methods such as computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and computational structural dynamics (CSD) are used and a simultaneous coupling method has been developed to accurately conduct flutter analyses. In addition, optimal control theory is integrated into the CFD based flutter analysis method to construct the coupled aeroservoelastic analysis system for the airfoil with oscillating flap. For a well-defined typical section model, fundamental unsteady aerodynamics and flutter characteristics are investigated. Finally, to show the effectiveness of flutter control the physical aeroelastic responses are directly compared between the open loop and the closed loop systems.

  • This paper proposes a stabilizing controller for multirate sampled-data systems which have a periodic output The proposed controller has IMC structure, and can be decomposed into a ye-stabilizing controller, an output estimator, a filtered disturbance estimator and the inverse of the fast ye-stabilized plant model. We assume that the plant is open-loop unstable and the disturbance consists of a sum of finite number of sinusoids with different frequencies. A sufficient condition for maintaining observability in the multirate sampled-data system is derived and a design strategy for filtered disturbance rejection is proposed.   • The purpose of this paper was to propose a method for improving the performance of the open-loop control of single-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor (SP-PMSM), based on a square wave voltage injection. Generally, the SP-PMSM driving systems cmprise a full-bridge inverter and asymmetric air-gap structure of magnetic circuit, because a zero torque occurs on the symmetrical air-gap. As a result, it cannot be started at a specific rotor position. Thus, it is possible to cause the start-up failure at an open-loop control for sensorless operation of SP-PMSM. In this paper, the method with square wave voltage injection considering the nonlinearity of the inverter is presented to resolve the problem. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is verified through several experiments.

  • In order to analyze lateral control in the backward maneuver of a tractor -trailer combination , a kinematic vehicle model and a human operator model with time delay were utilized for the operator/vehicle system. The analysis was carried out using the frequency domain approach. The open-loop stability of the vehicle motion was analyzed through the transfer functions. The sensitivity of the stability of the vehicle motion. to a change in the steering angle, was also analyzed. A mathematical model of the closed -loop operator/vehicle system was then formulated. The closed -loop stability of the operator /vehicle system was then analyzed. The effect of the delay time on the system was also analyzed through computer simulation.

  • In this paper, the control system of the controlled-permanent magnet(CPM) type MagLev system of 1ton is designed and implemented. The target to be controlled is PEM(permanent and electromagnet) type with 4-corners levitation which is open-loop unstable, highly non-linear and time-varing system.   • This paper introduces the machine tools feed system, which can be optimized the control's performance through simulation and the adjustment of the mechanical components. One method simulates the frequency response of the speed-loop with the design value using the MATLAB application, so that all of the interpolation axis can be equal to the response bandwidth, resulting in a high accuracy rate. The other method sees the mechanical component being adjusted by analyzing the results of various experiments. Lastly, this client's program is able to change the parameters that are related to the FFD, as well as the parameters in the friction compensation of the OPEN-CNC.
