  • ${\gamma}$-Aminobutyric acid (GABA) is a non-protein amino acid that is widely distributed in plant and animal kingdom. GABA is found in tissues of the central nervous system (CNS) in animals. GABA functions as a the major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the CNS by acting through the GABA receptors. Clinical studies have revealed the relationship between an increased intake of GABA or analogues with several health benefits, including lowering of blood pressure in mildly hypertensive animals and humans. Furthermore, GABA would also has an inhibitory effect on cancer cell proliferation, stimulates cancer cell apoptosis and plays a role in alcohol-associated diseases and schizophrenia. In plants, interest in the GABA emerged mainly from experimental observations that GABA is largely and rapidly produced in large amounts in response to biotic and abiotic stresses. In this study, we speculated the properties and metabolism of GABA in plant and functions in relation to the responses to environmental stresses.

  • In this study, the present condition of 8 Open APIs for books, such as Naver, Daum, Aladdin, Amazon, Google, KERIS, LibraryThing, and OCLC, were compared and analyzed. In addition, the bibliographic records of 167 samples of visible 'light & paraphotic' (DDC 535) classifications were selected from the bibliographic records of the library of C university, and the effectiveness of the Open APIs were compared and analyzed. On the basis of the results of this analysis, 12 Open API application models, which were judged to be useful in expanding the function of the access point of the bibliographic records and enhancing the library catalog using Open API, were experimentally implemented. Various methods of augmenting access points of bibliographic records and expanded library catalogue were investigated using the unique identifier described in the KORMARC fields of 001, 010, 012, 020, 035, 246, 505, 520, 850, 856 for the integrated format for bibliographic data, and Open API. Finally, using Open API for the brief display and detailed display screen as a result of search of the OPAC of the sample bibliographic records, the devices for the expanding library catalog were implemented as examples.

  • To solve the problems of the traditional scholarly communication system, global interest in the open access paradigm continues. Nevertheless, there is still a lack of research to understand global research and growth trends in the field of open access through data-based quantitative methods. This study aims to identify which sub-fields exist in open access and analyze how long each research field will grow in the future. To this end, topic modeling and growth curve analysis were applied to global academic papers in the field of open access. This study identified 14 research topics related to open access, open data, and open collaboration, which are three key elements of open science, and foresaw that the field of open access will grow over the next 65 years. The results of this study are expected to support researchers and policymakers in understanding global research trends of open access.

  • A set with an operation defined on a family of subsets is studied. The operation is used to generalize the topological space itself. The operation defines the operation-open subsets in the set. Relations are studied among two types of the interiors and the closures of subsets. Some properties of maximal operation-open sets are obtained. Semi-open sets and pre-open sets are defined in the sets with operations and some relations among them are proved.

  • 722 open clusters in the Sim open cluster catalogue show the outermost structure of open clusters. The catalogue is based on the proper motion and parallax of the stars. These results reveal the hidden structures of weak membership signals in the field star contamination. It contains the tidal tails, flattened structure along the galactic plane, interacting double clusters and very poor and spread clusters. We will show these interesting structures.

  • This article presents a novel notion of hesitant fuzzy cleanly covered in hesitant fuzzy topological spaces;moreover two strong hesitant fuzzy separation axioms are investigated. Based on fuzzy maximal open sets few properties of hesitant fuzzy cleanly covered are obtained. By dint of hesitant fuzzy minimal open and fuzzy maximal closed sets two strong hesitant fuzzy separation axioms are extended.

  • The revised curriculum in 2007 includes open inquiry approach to increase students' interest in science and to build up creativity. So teachers and pre-service teachers should be equipped with the ability of open inquiry performance. In order to investigate pre-service teachers' readiness to perform open inquiry tasks, we analyzed reports written as homework by a group of 71 juniors in a national university of education. The investigation tool was composed of four domains: topic selection, the inquiry process, the conclusion, and reporting. Each domain had three or four sub-domains. By using the framework, four raters scored the students' inquiry reports. The findings reveal that the pre-service elementary school teachers have difficulty in the domain of 'topic selection' and the 'conclusion' compared with the other domains. Under the topic selection domain, they showed weaknesses in 'creativity' and 'scientific topic' and under the conclusion domain, they had difficulty in 'recognizing limits' and 'value of conclusion'. The finding suggests that pre-service teaching program should provide with opportunities to perform open inquiry continually.

  • This study analyzed the type, subject and open level of research data in the field of library and information science field shared by Figshare, and statistically analyzed the characteristics of data with relatively high recyclability. The results of the analysis showed that datasets and papers were most common data types, and open access and research data were the most common keywords of data, and that 70% of the data were published in a form that can not be processed mechanically such as pdf. As a result of analysis of the relationship between characteristics of research data and degree of sharing, open access areas such as APC (Article Processing Charge) were found to be most common in the subject. However in data type, gray literature such as paper found to be highly utilized rather than dataset.
