In this paper, we present an emulation library for the essential features and their API function calls provided by Direct3D, the most actively used API for computer game-related application programs on the MS-Windows-based desktop's, with OpenGL library in the Linux environment. In typical Linux-based systems, only the X window system and OpenGL graphics library are available. There are lots of needs for this kind of emulation library to convert the Direct3D-based game applications and user interfaces on these systems. Through carefully selecting the essential API functions from the DirectX version 9.0, we obtained the prototype implementation of that emulation library, to finally get the final full-scale DirectX implementation. Our implementation currently covers 3D coordinate transformations, light and material processing, texture mapping, simple animation features and more. We showed its feasibility through successfully executing a set of Direct3D demonstration programs including a real-world game character animation on our implementation.

Due to an inability to accommodate for the rapidly increasing number of printed materials, Korean academic libraries are facing serious space shortage problems. Very few academic institutions have the funds to expand existing libraries or construct new facilities in order to accommodate the influx of printed materials. Despite not having the luxury to create new space, many establishments continue to implement the open access system. Seeing that such a system is only user friendly when used in a spacious facility, the maintenance of the open access system is unreasonable. Only few libraries consider the space efficient closed access system which helps to resolve storage space shortage. In the current state of the problem, improving the efficiency to which books are stored in existing storage areas within a library facility is the only appropriate solution. Enacting methods to improve physical space utilization within a fixed volume library facility will undoubtedly diminish the space shortage issue at hand. In this article, several space efficiency improvement approaches are discussed. Methods of book storage plan re-layout (floor, plan, ceiling, height, bookshelf design), book arrangement possibilities, and the reduction of the physical volume of reserved materials are each examined.

Opening university library doors to the community is essential to meeting their demands and it is also the duty of university libraries. Since opening doors of university libraries have become more and more significant, this study analysed the conditions of the university libraries that have the open-door policy to external users and carried out an analysis of problems caused by the open-door policy. The following alternatives were suggested : the introduction of the membership system about the external users, the role division of university library and local public libraries, reinforcement of external library user education, and access management about external users.

Open access policies are very important for the successful open access projects in any institutions. This study aims to propose elements to consider for establishing open access policies of universities. The 3 university institutional repositories' open access policies in Korea and foreign universities' policies registered in the ROARMAP are analyzed. The major categories proposed in the study are materials, time of deposition, depositors, copyright, level of requirement, exemption, usage, options for open access, and support.

Recently, the Ministry of Education is striving to move education and school libraries toward the information age and to create an atmosphere open education. School libraries need to be furnished with lots of useful materials for the curriculum of open education. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. 1. Procedures for marketing strategies for school libraries are embodied in mission statement, environmental analysis, marketing audit, marketing mix, marketing segmentation, evaluation methods etc. 5. The opportunity provided for design method and strategy of community space for secondary school through the experience of public library and gallery, is the purpose of this paper. Community space is an important issue in school architecture as it seeks to revive the public area in educational building and to renew the open space as a multi-entertainment space. The latest works of school, however, which are evaluated as well reflected the reality of educational patterns, are still deficient in that communicational elements in school are underdeveloped and inadequate. The cases of this paper, which are grown up as entertainment library and multi-purpose cultural space such as Seattle Public Library, Sendai Mediatech, Tate Modem Gallery, and Kunsthaus, are suitable to offer the method of the creation of community space for school. This paper reviews an assessment of its success in community space for school architecture with multi-entertainment-purpose library and cultural space connected open space and concludes with the establishment of design method for future school; extraction of the factors contributing to development of community space in school and proposal of design method; implementation of school renewal with library and gallery plus open space for the creation of identity considering both of study and play.

This study is to suggest IC(Information Commons) as an alternative to solve the digital divide in the Information Age. The value of IC is based on the OA(Open Acess) and the essential elements of democracy. On the basis of previous studies, physical space was divided into six parts to realize the value of the IC. This study investigated and analyzed the use patterns and made several suggestions for applying IC in the Public Library.

This study draws on the current momentum to diversify open government data research through multidimensional scaling and model development. It formulates a quality assessment model applicable to library open data, taking into consideration the paucity of such research in the field. The model was developed using the Delphi method and verified for validity and reliability on the basis of a survey administered to library open data users. The results of the fourth round exhibited an average of 4.00 for all measured elements and a minimum validity of .75, rendering the model appropriate for use in quality assessments of library open data. The convergence and stability results provided by the expert panel fell below .50, confirming that there was no need to conduct further surveys in order to establish the validity of the Delphi method. The model's reliability likewise garnered results of .60 and above in all three dimensions. This Model completed with the input of the Delphi panel was put through a verification process in which library open data users such as domestic and international librarians, developers, and open data activists reviewed the model for validity and reliability. The model scored low on validity on account of its failure to load all measure factors and elements pertaining to the three dimensions. Reliability results, on the other hand, were at 0.6 and above for all dimensions and measured elements.

With the rapid development of computer technology and ongoing destruction of traditional buildings, more and more attention is paid to digital methods for the design and preservation of traditional buildings. Unlike 2D methods, Building Information Modeling (BIM) provides an object-oriented and parametric digital representation way for traditional building components. However, one of the main limitations currently is that parametric information cannot be exchanged between BIM software packages. Therefore each kind of software must have their own parametric library which causes extensive works. In this research, the authors developed an open BIM-based library using an XML parametric approach to solve the above problems, represented traditional components according to an XML schema, and parametrically implemented these XML files in a browser which can be accessed by users for their easy component edit and selection. And then based on the XML file of one component, implemented an Add-on in ArchiCAD for users to parametrically edit and directly utilize. Thus based on these XML files, a browser for users' view and selection purpose and an add-on for users' application purpose were developed. Future research will focus on implementing these XML files in other BIM tools like Revit and Digital Project. If the whole library was to be completed based on this XML approach, an open BIM-based library would be established that all kinds of BIM software users could apply this parametric library for easy modeling of traditional houses.
