  • Power system technologies in the area of smart grid are being converged with communication system technologies or information technologies(IT). This interdisciplinary action affects on two parts vigorously so that IT has become a essential part of power industry. But terminologies of two parts are confused and it is necessary that these are standardized to develop the industry. The writing system of the Open Korean Knowledge Dictionary for standardization of smart grid terminologies which are IEC TC 57 glossary and non-glossary is proposed. The writing system includes the process of collection, writing guideline and standardization of terminologies. Writing results of 90,000 terminologies for electricity, communication and computer fields including smart grid terminologies, which are registered in the Open Korean Knowledge Dictionary, are shown. The system provides the capability of collection and delivery of academic society opinions for the selected and interpreted terminologies through the internet for standardization and industry propagation of smart grid terminologies.

  • A new classification system with 9 main categories and 56 subcategories for the Open Korean Knowledge Dictionary is proposed. The classification system setup is to prepare for the standard classification system to be used to manage effectively vast of terminologies which were published in the Open Korean Knowledge Dictionary and is meant to enhance the fifteen-year old classification system for the standard korean great dictionary to match up to the trend of the modern terminology. The new terminology classification system covering all the academic areas such as humanity, sociology, politics, science, medicine, agriculture, engineering, etc, is designed and proposed after investigating several classification systems. The classification system setup procedures follow as ${\circ}$ The classification system is designed and planed by both the classification system and the academic expert. ${\circ}$ Classification system design covers all the academic areas following National Science and Technology standard classification system after investigating several classification systems such as the National Research Foundation, National Science and Technology Standard Act, Ministry of Knowledge Economy. ${\circ}$ Poll and survey is made to collect comments from total 93 members of several academic areas. ${\circ}$ The poll result is reviewed among working group members and utilized to update the new terminology classification system. Reclassifications are made for the around 200,000 terms in electricity, computer, medicine, pharmacy, biology, and economics according to the new terminology classification system.

  • The Korean Archaeological Dictionary, which represents Korean archaeological knowledge information, contains refined and high-quality information written by expert collective intelligence. This is a characteristic that clearly distinguishes it from overseas archaeological data archives, and can be called differentiated infrastructure data. However, it has not played a role as an information service or knowledge information platform reflecting the latest digital technology. As a way to maximize these strengths and compensate for weaknesses, it was proposed to develop and operate a GIS-based knowledge and information platform for Korean archaeology. To realize this, it is necessary to develop a title management system centered on repositories and metadata that can collect and store various information, link open linked data design and related systems, develop a search function that can analyze and visualize data in response to the big data era, and establish a WebGIS-based information service system. This will be a platform to continuously manage, supplement, and update Korean archaeological knowledge information, build a ubiquitous environment where anyone can use information anytime, anywhere, and create various types of business models.

  • Wikipedia as an open encyclopedia contains immense human knowledge written by thousands of volunteer editors and its reliability is also high. In this paper, we propose to automatically construct a Korean named entity dictionary using the several features of the Wikipedia. Firstly, we generate class hierarchies using the class information from each article of Wikipedia. Secondly, the titles of each article are mapped to our class hierarchies, and then we calculate the entropy value of the root node in each class hierarchy. Finally, we construct named entity dictionary with high performance by removing the class hierarchies which have a higher entropy value than threshold. Our experiment results achieved overall F1-measure of 81.12% (precision : 83.94%, recall : 78.48%).

  • Hand shape is one of important elements in Korean Sign Language (KSL), which is a communication method for the deaf. To express sign motion in a virtual reality environment based on OpenGL, we need an editor which can insert and modify sign motion data. However, it is very difficult that people, who lack knowledge of sign 1anguage, exactly edit and express hand shape using the existing editors. We also need a program to efficiently construct and store the hand shape data because the number of data is very large in a sign word dictionary. In this paper we developed a KSL hand shape editor to easily construct and edit hand shape by a graphical user interface (GUI), and to store it in a database. Hand shape codes are used in a sign word editor to synthesize sign motion and decreases total amount of KSL data.
