Web GIS Server Using GML

  • Recently, loosely-coupled systems are widely used for distributed computing environment. We develop a web GIS server who conforms to the international standards developed by the Open GIS Consortium (OGC), such as web feature service (WFS) implementation specification, Geography Markup Language (GML) implementation specification, and the simple features specification for OLE/COM. The web GIS server provides interoperable access of spatial data among data formats in the distributed environment.

  • Recently, many WMS(Web Mapping Services) and POI(Point of Interest) service on to be in service on the Internet using Web CIS(Geographic Information System) as information Technology and computer HW are evolved faster in its speed, network bandwidth and features. The Web GIS is, however, limited and constrained on the specification of its system configuration, the service class provided and the presentation methodology of a map. As the mobile Internet becomes popular in mobile service, Web GIS service on mobile environment is strongly required and to be provided by LBS(Location Based Service) on a mobile client such as PDA with location information of the user. In this paper, we made an effort to design and implement a GIS computing environment by thin client for mobile web mapping service. For implementing the thin client GIS computing environment, we were using NGII's(National Geographic Information Institute's) DXF map, representing the map by SVG(Scalable Vector Graphics) recommended by OGC(OpenGis Consortium), and adapting standard XML web service to provide the thin client GIS service on PDA by applying the location information of the user in realtime with GPS on mobile environment.

  • Technology of GIS evolved as a means of assembling and analyzing diverse spatial data. Many systems have been developed, and almost of systems are proprietary. There is a lots of lack of interoperability and reusability between them. This paper describes the development of Open GIS component software. The developing system have an end in view of GIS tool software which is interoperable and reusable. To increase the interoperability and reusability, the system is based on the OGC(Open GIS Consortium)'s Open GIS Simple Features Specification for OLE/COM. The OGC's specification is announced to increasing the full interoperability of various geospatial data and geoprocessing resources. With the Open specification, component based software ensures the reusability. We implement three kinds of component: Geometry component, Spatial Reference System Component, and MapBase Component. The first two components are compatible to the OGC's specification and the third one is designed to GIS tool software for variant GIS applications. The Open GIS component software system is developed on object-oriented computing environment, ATL/COM and Visual C++. As we made application programs using Visual Basic, the advantages of component based Open GIS software was proved.

  • The additional mechanism is required to set up a secure connection among the communication subjects in the internet environment. Each entity should transfer and receive the encrypted and hashed data to guarantee the data integrity. Also, the mutual authentication procedure should be processed using a secure communication protocol. Although the OpenSSL which implements the TLS is using by many developers and its stability and performance are proved, it has a difficulty in using because of its large size. So, this paper designs and implements the secure communication which the users can use easily by modification works of OpenSSL library API. We proved the real application results using the client/server case which supports a secure communication using the implemented API.

Modeling and simulation of VERA core physics benchmark using OpenMC code

  • Detailed analysis of the neutron pathway through matter inside the nuclear reactor core is exceedingly needed for safety and economic considerations. Due to the constant development of high-performance computing technologies, neutronics analysis using computer codes became more effective and efficient to perform sophisticated neutronics calculations. In this work, a commercial pressurized water reactor (PWR) presented by Virtual Environment for Reactor Applications (VERA) Core Physics Benchmark are modeled and simulated using a high-fidelity simulation of OpenMC code in terms of criticality and fuel pin power distribution. Various problems have been selected from VERA benchmark ranging from a simple two-dimension (2D) pin cell problem to a complex three dimension (3D) full core problem. The development of the code capabilities for reactor physics methods has been implemented to investigate the accuracy and performance of the OpenMC code against VERA SCALE codes. The results of OpenMC code exhibit excellent agreement with VERA results with maximum Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) values of less than 0.04% and 1.3% for the criticality eigenvalues and pin power distributions, respectively. This demonstrates the successful utilization of the OpenMC code as a simulation tool for a whole core analysis. Further works are undergoing on the accuracy of OpenMC simulations for the impact of different fuel types and burnup levels and the analysis of the transient behavior and coupled thermal hydraulic feedback.

  • Ubiquitous environment can be supported by various service on networked appliance, sensors and devices. In home network and telematics, open service gateway is widely used for ubiquitous environment and Present environment for service installation, deployment and execution. Service gateway is a middle layer which is located between service and various devices in ubiquitous environment and offers a unique opportunity for pervasive computing as a potential framework for achieving interoperability between various sensors, home appliances. and networked devices. In ubiquitous environments, these services must support the mobility among service gateway because users and devices has a mobility characteristic. However the OSGi framework supports only a remote installation of a bundle, which is a unit that installs and deploys services. This paper develops a system that can manage bundles for supporting this dynamic bundle's mobility between service gateway. This system we are proposing implements a bundle form which can perform in an OSGi framework as well as manage the mobile services. As a result, mobility in a ubiquitous computing environment will be supported more efficiently.

  • With the advance of network and software infrastructure, Grid-computing technology on a cluster of heterogeneous computing resources becomes pervasive. Grid computing is required a coordinated use of an assembly of distributed computers, which are linked by WAN. As the number of grid system components increases, the probability of failure in the grid computing is higher than that in a traditional parallel computing. To provide the robustness of grid applications, fault detection is critical and is essential elements in design and implementation. In this paper, a OGSA based process fault-detection services presented to provide high reliability under low network traffic environment.

Scalable Big Data Pipeline for Video Stream Analytics Over Commodity Hardware

  • A huge amount of data in the form of videos and images is being produced owning to advancements in sensor technology. Use of low performance commodity hardware coupled with resource heavy image processing and analyzing approaches to infer and extract actionable insights from this data poses a bottleneck for timely decision making. Current approach of GPU assisted and cloud-based architecture video analysis techniques give significant performance gain, but its usage is constrained by financial considerations and extremely complex architecture level details. In this paper we propose a data pipeline system that uses open-source tools such as Apache Spark, Kafka and OpenCV running over commodity hardware for video stream processing and image processing in a distributed environment. Experimental results show that our proposed approach eliminates the need of GPU based hardware and cloud computing infrastructure to achieve efficient video steam processing for face detection with increased throughput, scalability and better performance.

  • Purpose: Artificial intelligence is widely used, particularly in the popular neural network theory called Deep learning. The improvement of computing speed and capability expedited the progress of Deep learning applications. The application of Deep learning in education has various effects and possibilities in creating and managing educational content and services that can replace human cognitive activity. Among Deep learning, Deep fake technology is used to combine and synchronize human faces with voices. This paper will show how to develop e-Learning content videos using those technologies and open-source tools. Research design, data, and methodology: This paper proposes 4 step development process, which is presented step by step on the Google Collab environment with source codes. This technology can produce various video styles. The advantage of this technology is that the characters of the video can be extended to any historical figures, celebrities, or even movie heroes producing immersive videos. Results: Prototypes for each case are also designed, developed, presented, and shared on YouTube for each specific case development. Conclusions: The method and process of creating e-learning video contents from the image, video, and audio files using Deep fake open-source technology was successfully implemented.

Numerical Experiments Using Modified POM WAD with Computing Time Saving Technique (계산시간절약기법이 적용된 수정 POM WAD의 수치실험)

  • In order to effectively and economically apply the previous POM(Princeton Ocean Model) WAD(Wetting And Drying) to the coastal area, the POM WAD was modified such as the water elevation input of tidal harmonics in the open boundaries was included and a CTS(Computing Time Saving) technique was introduced to the model. The modified model was tested to the standing waves in the rectangular bay and the hydraulic experiments for the flow and heat diffusion in the 3D basin. The numerical results showed a good agreement with the analytical solutions of the standing waves and the observed values by the hydraulic experiments, respectively. And also when the modified model with the CTS technique was applied to Gwangyang Bay of Korea, the computing time was decreased by as much as 39.4%.
