  • This study examines the effect of sense of community on the relationship between learner satisfaction and influencing factors related to the online learning environment. Influencing factors related to the online learning environment are derived from previous literature and classified into two groups : social dimension (leader's enthusiasm, offline activities) and system dimension (usefulness, ease of use, enjoyability). Learner satisfaction is defined as the learners' perceived learning gains from taking an online class. Study participants included 250 university students from two different institutions. The participants were divided into 43 groups and asked to complete an online TOEIC preparation module using a commercial cooperative learning system over 4 weeks. Data were collected at three points for each participant, at the beginning, 3 weeks after, and at the end of the online module. Two system factors related to the online learning environment (ease of use, usefulness) directly influenced learner satisfaction, while social factors indirectly influenced learner satisfaction through the mediating role of sense of community.

  • Although the need for international online courses and the number of online learners has been rapidly increasing, the online class evaluation has been mostly relying on the quantitative survey analysis. So a more objective evaluation method has to be developed to more accurately assess online course satisfaction. This study highlights the benefits of using big data analysis from the bulletin board messages of online learning system as a method to evaluate the online courses. In fact, automatic classification technology is recognized as an important technology among big data analysis techniques. Our team applied this technique to evaluate the online courses. From the delphi analysis results, suggested method was concluded that the evaluation items and classification results are suitable for online course evaluation and applicable in schools or institutions. This study has confirmed that the rapidly accumulating big data analysis technology can be successfully applied to the education sector with the least change. It also diagnosed a meaningful possibility to expand the big data analysis for further application.

  • Recently, the COVID environment has had a serious impact on the university education system. Career guidance methods of students, which have a significant impact on enrollment and employment rates of universities, should be changed in the COVID environment. While a traditional career guidance activity mainly use offline counseling methods, it should consider online counseling methods more seriously in the COVID environment. In this paper, I propose a hybrid(online and offline) career guidance model that can be effectively used in both online and offline education environments. The proposed hybrid model, which has the characteristics of online and offline, can effectively guide college students even in the COVID environment. In this paper, I show the usefulness of the proposed model by applying it to a real-world counseling case.

  • The purpose of this thesis is to suggest the direction of various online education media to be developed in the future by studying the necessity and cases of non-face-to-face online craft education programs. To this end, among the online class platforms currently operated in Korea, four places that contain craft education programs were selected and analyzed for comparison. Class101, Hobbyful, Conects-Hobby Class, and Air Klass are examples. As a result of the study, the common features and advantages of the convenience of accessing contents and the diversity of class composition were found. However, there was a limitation in that the real-time inquiry and response system was not systematically implemented in most online class platforms. In particular, as the number of users of the online class platform is gradually increasing in the untact era caused by Covid-19, continuous research and development will be required to ensure that interaction, the most important characteristic of face-to-face, can also be performed well on online platforms.

  • This research is a case study about "Critical Thinking and Debate Education" class which was done for freshmen at the engineering college of "S" Women's University. Real time remote classes through LMS and ZOOM were the most effective tools under on-line circumstances, considering the fact that video lectures only cannot cultivate students' capabilities of critical thinking and communication. Throughout the analysis on students' self-reflection journals and lecture evaluations, this paper examined considerable future points and the pros and cons of "Critical Thinking and Debate Education" under online presentation and discussion situation. As research outputs, students told they could feel less nervousness and anxiety when they exercise and have a presentation because they could choose familiar space for them. In addition, students also told that they feel comfortable about both self-feedback and peer evaluation, repeatedly seeing the recorded video clip. However, on the contrary, sometimes students felt uncomfortable due to unstable internet connection through the online classes, and they also were regretful about the missing chances of interaction between a teacher and students and of intimate exchanges among students. They also told they had felt a kind of limit of enhancing their presentation skills just in front of the monitor. Considering these outcomes, this research paper points out that online education needs to be proceeded by strengthening multi layered feedback to students with the build-up of a non-face-to-face stable educational infrastructure, application of online instructional strategy, and utilization of YouTube platform and video contents. Through this research paper, I hope the new system of encompassing on/off line "Critical Thinking and Debate Education" and effective teaching and learning method can be developed soon by strengthening the strength of online education.

  • It is necessary to study creative problem solving(CPS) in cooperative level because numerous studies have reported that group approaches to CPS are more effective than individual approaches. There are also lots of researches that an online environment is effective to promote cooperative interactions among group members. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to develop an online support system for cooperative and creative problem solving. First, in this paper we created an integrated CPS model from existing CPS models. Second, we designed principles of an online cooperative CPS(CCPS) based on the integrated CPS model. Third, we developed an online support system for the cooperative CPS. Lastly, we conducted formative evaluations of the developed system and suggested ideas for improvement of the system. The developed system provides an effective and efficient online learning environment for CCPS. CCPS means the cooperative thinking processes to solve certain problems through identifying problems, stating problems, reviewing the data related withe the problems, producing creative ideas and making group decisions related with the solutions.

  • E-learning method has many advantages that supplement the shortfalls of offline education. For this reason, today's offline educational institutions adopted the online education technique to improve learning effectiveness. Recently, general universities have partially adopted online learning. As a result, a study is searching for ways to improve the effectiveness of education by copying the merits of the existing offline education onto the online education. Thus a proper evaluation of learners and a feedback provision are considered necessary to improve the effectiveness of online learning. This study aims to suggest a model that will improve learning efficiency by adapting the advantages of offline education to online learning. To evaluate properly, this study conducted Item Response Test to examine the learners and finally ensure them an adequate level of education. Also, this study suggested a way to enhance learning efficiency by finding out each learner's study habits and to address the weaknesses of online learning. It is expected that the suggested method would be helpful in bettering learner's ability to study in school environment.

  • The advancement of online technology in the 21st century has increased online courses and web-based communication in higher education. This type of education is not limited by time or location and has made it possible to expand university campuses globally and broaden the reach of university education to the general public and students from other universities. Changes such as a decrease in the school-age population and a reorganization of the university structure have also created an opportunity to change the perception of online education. In this paper, we conducted surveys on K University students, high school seniors, and the general public to assess their satisfaction with online courses, identify areas that require massive online courses, and determine students' needs for the operation of massive online courses. The survey showed that K University students are generally satisfied with online courses. However, improvements are needed to ensure a smooth online course-taking environment, increase system uniformity, and enhance the overall online course environment. High school students have a strong preference for natural science and should be offered online courses in subjects such as mathematics and physics as prerequisites to prepare for their major classes. The general public prefers the humanities, which is evident in the purpose of the liberal arts lectures.
