Indonesia has a population of more than 260 million, of which, by 2020, Generation Y is predicted to account for 70% of the total. With different birth years, Generation Y is the backbone of Indonesia's product purchasing. Generation Y is interested in establishing strong relationships with specific brands on social media. They are also interested in working with companies to design a product. Most Generation Y utilizes more than one electronic device and they are also brand loyal. Therefore, this study seeks to examine the effect of social media (i.e., e-WOM, online community, and online advertising) on brand image and loyalty in Generation Y in Indonesia. The sampling method employed was purposive sampling. A total of 150 respondents in the age range of 23-30 years were involved as the sample. Using multiple regression model in data analysis, this study proved that e-WOM, not only have a positive and significant effect on the brand image, but also on brand loyalty. Furthermore, online community also positively and significantly affects brand image and brand loyalty. Likewise, online advertising has a positive and significant effect on brand image and brand loyalty. This study's findings indicated that all the proposed hypotheses were well accepted.
As the web advertising proliferates due to the explosive growth of Internet users, there is a research need for the consumers' general perception on the individual advertisements in the web. This research studies whether the characteristics of Internet advertising(entertainment, informativeness, purchase facilitation, irritation) influence the consumers' attitudes in the Internet environment. This is based on the fact that the web as an advertising channel is quite different from the traditional advertising channels. Twc different surveys are conducted; one is to study consumers' general responses for the Internet advertising in general, and the other is to study more specifically consumers' attitudes for the six different advertising messages(product advertising, corporate image advertising, on-line catalog, billboard, contest/game advertising and online directory of firms). Entertainment and informativeness factors are found to be positively related with the consumers' general attitudes for the web advertising, whereas purchase facilitation and irritation factors have no relationships. Also, a set of advertising strategies for the six different advertising messages are given based on the findings about the relationships between the six advertising messages and the four influencing factors.
The purpose of this research was to evaluate the possibility of sustainable development of online advertisements conducted by fashion companies. Factors composed of sustainable development indexes of online advertisement that had been developed in previous studies were identified, and then the relevance between purchase intention and advertisement experience was evaluated. An online survey of 573 persons in the 20 to 40 age range who own mobile phone and have experienced online advertisements of a fashion brand or a fashion company was conducted. The data collected from the survey and the results are as follows. First, the validity and reliability from confirmatory factor analysis of six factors (namely, personal information protection, web use infringement, advertisement expression harmfulness, advertisement expression objectivity, emotional responsibility, and environment-friendly) and 21 questions was confirmed. Second, it confirmed that consumers gave low points to the evaluation of sustainable development indexes of online advertisement of fashion companies. In particular, that consumers gave low points with regard to both environmental friendliness and web use infringement. Third, it was identified that personal indexes such as personal information protection, web use infringement, and indexes relating to advertisement expressions do not directly influence the consumer's purchase intention. However, social indexes like emotional responsibility and environmental friendliness do have an influence on the consumer's positive action intention.

As concerns about users' privacy infringement on Online Behavioral Advertising(OBA) increase, regulators are taking measures such as drawing up guidelines for OBAs, and websites provide OBA guidance in compliance with such guidelines. In modern socity, online communication plays a vital role in social interaction of communicities. It is so common for online users to see display advertisements online while surting the Net. Specifically, most web banners diaplayed on portral sites consist of words, phrase, and sentences. Considering that the primary purpose of adversiting is persuation, the advertisement such as web banners is an examplary case to show the interaction among pragmatics, translation and advertising because the linguistic expressions employed in the banners represent its pragmatic use, leading to persuation and functioning as a communicative tool for the smooth communication between source text producers (adversisers) and target audience (online users). This can be part of the so-called translation process. In particular, we can easily witness the use of English words in web banners. Thus, this paper looks at web banners displayed on major four portal sites-Naver, Daum, Nate, and Zum, giving a special attention to the content contained in the web banners as well as the use of English words. As s result, we found that the frequencies of English words in each portal site were higher when the advertised products were targeting young online users, whereas the frequencies were lower when the users are older group than young people. The finding supports the prgramatic perspective that linguistic expressions are understood in social contexts and shows the so-called translation process which involves a shift from semantic meaning of words to their pragmatic use. Finally, we can conclude that the interaction is possible when we have the framework where translation, pragmatics, and advertising are all communitative components for social interaction within social contexts.
Purpose As the number of SNS users increases, the importance of SNS advertisement is also increasing. Thus, the purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of factors on effectiveness of SNS advertising, and expand research on users' attitude and behavior intention toward SNS advertising. Design/methodology/approach This study was designed to examine the structural relationships among SNS service attribute, users' cognitive characters, psychological factors, users' attitude and behavior intention toward SNS advertising. Concretely, SNS service attribute was presented as online interactivity, and users' cognitive characters were presented as perceived relevance and perceived intrusiveness. In addition, psychological factors were presented as presence experience and message credibility, users' attitude toward SNS advertising was presented as advertisement attitude and users' behavior intention was presented as WOM. Findings The results showed that online interactivity has a positive effect on presence experience and message credibility, but perceived intrusiveness has a negative effect on presence experience and message credibility. Perceived relevance has a positive effect on presence experience, but does not have significant effect on message credibility. Presence experience and message credibility have positive effects on advertisement attitude and WOM, and advertisement attitude also has a positive effect on WOM. Based on the results from this study, academic and practical implications can be drawn. First, the study extended the scope of research about SNS advertising through focusing on SNS service attribute and SNS users' cognitive characters and identified the relationship between presence experience, message credibility, advertisement attitude and WOM. Second, the results of this research can provide practical guidelines to develop effective advertising strategies for companies which promoting SNS as a marketing tool.
This study examines the various responses of Chinese consumers, depending on the nationality of the fashion advertising model featured in an advertisement; it explores the effects of a congruence between self-image and advertising image (CSIAI) on consumer attitudes. This study was conducted by collecting data online; 200 samples selecting a Korean model and 200 samples selecting a Chinese model with a fashion brand were analyzed. A structural equation model confirms the conceptual framework for the influence of CSIAI on consumer attitudes and purchase intentions. The results show that the perceived CSIAI of consumers positively influences their attitude toward the advertising and the brand, and further, that advertising and brand attitudes significantly affect the purchase intention of consumers. This positive relationship is moderated by the nationality of the model. These findings suggest that the nationality of the model can serve as an important retail mix for global marketers. Other results and management implications are also discussed.
