  • Secure multimedia multicast applications involve group communications where group membership requires secured dynamic key generation and updating operations. Such operations usually consume high computation time and therefore designing a key distribution protocol with reduced computation time is necessary for multicast applications. In this paper, we propose a new key distribution protocol that focuses on two aspects. The first one aims at the reduction of computation complexity by performing lesser numbers of multiplication operations using a ternary-tree approach during key updating. Moreover, it aims to optimize the number of multiplication operations by using the existing Karatsuba divide and conquer approach for fast multiplication. The second aspect aims at reducing the amount of information communicated to the group members during the update operations in the key content. The proposed algorithm has been evaluated based on computation and communication complexity and a comparative performance analysis of various key distribution protocols is provided. Moreover, it has been observed that the proposed algorithm reduces the computation and communication time significantly.

  • Accessing and searching in a sequence of numbers are fundamental operations in computing that are encountered in a wide range of applications. One of the applications of the problem is cryptanalytic time-memory tradeoff which is aimed at a one-way function. A rainbow table, which is a common method for the time-memory tradeoff, contains elements from an input domain of a hash function that are normally sorted integers. In this paper, we present a practical indexing method for a monotonically increasing static sequence of numbers where the access and search queries can be addressed efficiently in terms of both time and space complexity. For a sequence of n numbers from a universe $U=\{0,{\ldots},m-1\}$, our data structure requires n lg(m/n) + O(n) bits with constant average running time for both access and search queries. We also give an analysis of the time and space complexities of the data structure, supported by experiments with rainbow tables.

  • Passwords are a common method of identifying and authenticating a user who wishes to log on to a secure system. Password-based authentication techniques, however, do not provide strong security and recognized as being an poor form of protection. It is not all the responsibility of the user to control password and to protect its confidentiality. In this paper, confirm an appropriate response time and I propose a new and improved method of implementing two factor authentication using SMS via receiving apparatus(mobile and email).

  • Kvarnstrom et al. ${in}^{[10]}$ proposed a rule protection scheme by using one-way hash function to protect rules in security systems over ubiquitous environment. Son et at. ${in}^{[5-6]}$ also prooposed a rule protection scheme for Snort, which is one of the most common IDS. These schemes provide security only for the header information but not for its contents. To solve this problem, this paper presents a scheme based on the symmetric cryptosystem over Snort not only for the header information but also contents. This paper uses the key management based on PCMCIA security module proposed ${by}^{[12]}$ for the symmetric cryptosystem. Our scheme could be adjusted to other security systems, which use the rule based detection.

  • Recently, most of information services are provided by the computer network, since the technology of computer communication is developing rapidly, and the worth of information over the network is also increasing with expensive cost. But various attacks to quietly intercept the informations is invoked with the technology of communication developed, and then most of the financial agency currently have used OTP, which is generated by a token at a number whenever a user authenticates to a server, rather than general static password for some services. A 2-factor OTP generating method using the OTP token is mostly used by the financial agency. However, the method is vulnerable to real attacks and therefore the OTP token could be robbed and disappeared. In this paper, we propose a 3-factor OTP way using HMAC to conquer the problems and analyze the security of the proposed scheme.

  • Cloud services are readily available through a variety of media, attracting a lot of attention from users. However, there are various security damages that abuse the privacy of users who use cloud services, so there is not enough technology to prevent them. In this paper, we propose a protection model to safeguard user's privacy in a cloud environment so as not to illegally exploit user's privacy. The proposed model randomly manages the user's signature to strengthen the role of the middle manager and the cloud server. In the proposed model, the user's privacy information is provided illegally by the cloud server to the user through the security function and the user signature. Also, the signature of the user can be safely used by bundling the random number of the multiplication group and the one-way hash function into the hash chain to protect the user's privacy. As a result of the performance evaluation, the proposed model achieved an average improvement of data processing time of 24.5% compared to the existing model and the efficiency of the proposed model was improved by 13.7% than the existing model because the user's privacy information was group managed.

  • Recently, famous online shopping websites were hit by hacking attack, and many users' personal information such as ID, password, account number, personal number, credit card number etc. were compromised. Hackers are continuing to attack online shopping websites, and the number of victims of these hacking is increasing. Especially, the exposure of credit card numbers is dangerous, because hackers maliciously use disclosed card numbers to gain money. In 2007 Financial Cryptography Conference, Ian Molly et al. firstly proposed dynamic card number generator, but it doesn't meet reuse resistant. In this paper, we analyzed security weaknesses of Ian Molly's scheme, and we proposed a new one-time virtual card number generator using a mobile device which meets security requirements of one-time virtual card numbers. Then, we propose one-time credit card number generation and transaction protocol using Integrated Authentication Center for user convenience and security enhancement.

  • Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) through broadband cable network is a subscriber-based system which consists of software and set-top box. However, a weakness for the current IPTV system is the lack of security between users and CAS. This paper proposes a user authentication protocol at STB, which limits the service by the user-valued attribute to prevent illegal IPTV users. User attribute values change the order with bit form according to the certain rule, and apply to one-way hash function and Diffie-Hellman's elliptic curve key-exchange algorithm. The proposed protocol is able to improve on user authentication and computation. Also, each user generates an authentication message by smart card and receives various services based on the user-valued attribute.

  • Combining the concept of self-certified public key and message recovery, Li-Zhang-Zhu (LZZ) gives the proxy signature scheme with message recovery using self-certified public key. The security of the proposed scheme is based on the discrete logarithm problem (DLP) and one-way hash function (OWHF). Their scheme accomplishes the tasks of public key verification, proxy signature verification, and message recovery in a logically single step. In addition, their scheme satisfies all properties of strong proxy signature and does not use secure channel in the communication between the original signer and the proxy signer. In this paper, it is shown that in their signature scheme a malicious signer can cheat the system authority (SA), by obtaining a proxy signature key without the permission of the original signer. At the same time malicious original signer can also cheat the SA, he can also obtain a proxy signature key without the permission of the proxy signer. An improved signature scheme is being proposed, which involves the remedial measures to get rid of security flaws of the LZZ et al.'s. The security and performance analysis shows that the proposed signature scheme is maintaining higher level of security, with little bit of computational complexity.

  • Cloud computing that provides IT service and computer resource based on internet is now getting attention. However, the encrypted data can be exposed because it is saved in cloud server, even though it is saved as an encrypted data. In this paper, user certification protocol is proposed to prevent from illegally using of secret data by others while user who locates different physical position is providing secret data safely. The proposed protocol uses one way hash function and XOR calculation to get user's certification information which is in server when any user approaches to particular server remotely. Also it solves user security problem of cloud.
