Education equipment for FPGA-based multimedia player design (FPGA 기반의 멀티미디어 재생기 설계 교육용 장비)

  • Education equipment for field programmable gate array (FPGA) based multimedia player design is introduced. Using the education equipment, an example of hardware design for color detection and augment reality (AR) game is described, and an example of syllabus for "Digital system design using FPGA" course is introduced. Using the education equipment, students can develop the ability to design some hardware, and to train the ability for the creative capstone design through conceptual, partial-level, and detail designs. By controlling audio codec, system-on-chip (SOC) design skills combining a NIOS II soft microprocessor and digital hardware in one FPGA chip are improved. The ability to apply wireless communication and LabView to FPGA-based digital design is also increased.

  • The thermoelectric device was applied to a car-seat to control the hot temperature in summer and cold temperature in the winter. The characteristics of the device used to a car-seat were analyzed. The air conditioning structure was designed to regulate the hot side of the thermoelectric device. To control the temperature of the car-seat, a robust control algorithm based on the sliding mode control was applied, and a controller using one-chip microprocessor was developed. The performance of the proposed controller through experiments was shown.

  • In this paper, closed loop V/f control of induction motor has been implemented by the estimated speed. Closed loop V/f control improve the performance of induction motor drive system at low speed compared to open loop V/f control. However, closed loop V/f control need speed sensor. By using the estimated speed, closed loop V/f control is possible without speed sensor. Rotor speed is calculated from the difference between synchronous frequency and slip angular frequency. 3-phase voltage reference is obtained from synchronous frequency. And the PWM technique using space vector PWM is applied in this scheme. In the space vector PWM, effective time of 3-phase voltage reference is used to simplify the calculation of effective voltage time. This scheme is simple to implement and one chip microprocessor was used in experimental system.

  • This paper presents a digital implementation of delta modulation Technique for Active Power Filters. Delta modulated scheme is to control the harmonic-compensating current indirectly by adjusting the capacitor voltage to be sinusoidal. The overall control system has two feedback loops. One is the outer propotional feedback for loop regulating the dc current of active filters and the other is the inner feedback loop for maintaining the ac current waveform to be sinusoidal, and have zero power factor angle(i.e. unity power factor). The characteristics of the proposed is investigated by digital simulation using ACSL and experimental results are obtained by TMS370C756 Single-Chip Microprocessor relative to analog delta modulation technique.

  • This paper presents development of a different substance monitoring system base reliable detection between the conveyer belt and hopper used lot materials transport line of steel company. Conventional detection method of a piece of iron separation system is losed the confidence, because of the place with bad surroundings of measurement so much that materials Production line are completely exposed to dust, moisture and vibration. For the solution of this problem, we developed a different substance detection system using the acoustic emittion sensor and one chip microprocessor which is available for bad surroundings and inexpensive. The reliability of the system was estimated by experiment.

  • The fully digitalized inverter has some difficulties in implementation because of the limitation of available memory capacity and computation time. In this paper schemes suitable for a one-chip microprocessor-based realization, which linearize notch angles of selected harmonic elimination (SHE) PWM, are presented. Also the detailed description of the scheme along with the realization is described. The simulation and experiment results show that proposed schemes have the predicted advantages such as good voltage waveforms and a memory-saving.

  • In this study, a solid-state laser system adopting a new real time multi-discharge (RTMD) method in which three flashlamps are turned on consecutively was designed and fabricated to examine the pulse width and the pulse shape of the laser beams depending upon the changes in the lamp turn-on time. That is, this study shows a technology that makes it possible to make various pulse shapes by turning on three flashlamps consecutively on a real-time basis with the aid of a PIC one-chip microprocessor, With this technique, the lamp turn-on delay time can be varied more diversely from 0 to 10 ms and the real-time control is possible with an external keyboard, enabling various pulse shapes. In addition, longer pulses can be more widely used for industrial processing and lots of medical purposes.

  • This paper presents the development of a keypad test system for the improvement of working environment and productivity using PTC 16F877 microprocessor. In order to detect the fault of keypad products, hardware and software design is performed in this system. Keypad fault detection system is controlled by the 8 bit one chip PIC microcontroller for the exactness and speed. Developed panel of the keypad test system is comprised of the sub-panel for selecting in the inspected keypad types and the main panel f3r displaying the working order and fault position. Furthermore, all data from keypad inspection are stored in main memory of personal computer for the database. All these functions lead to the improvement of working speed and environment.

  • Electrical motors are an integral part of industrial plants with no less than 5 billion motors built word wide every year and the BLDC motor have been increased demand on industrial application. This paper presents BLDC motor control algorithm for cost effective motor application using general purpose microprocessor which have only one on-chip timer and describes how to realize pulse width modulation(PWM) signals with general input/output(I/O) ports to control a three-phase permanent magnet brushless do motor using timer interrupt on MSP430F1232.

  • Recently, UPS(Uninterruptible Power Supply) have been largely used to improve power souse quality as well as to protect critical loads such as computer, industrial system, medical equipment, etc, against power outage by providing clean and uninterrupted power under power supply disturbance or interruptions. But UPS is bulky because used battery. So, UPS size issue have received attention in the power electronics industry. Therefore, this paper proposed a implementation of inside of the computer power supply with UPS by the one-chip microprocessor to minimize UPS size. To verify the proposed power supply, the detail simulation and experiment results indicate that high-frequency switching and operation UPS can be achieved.
