  • Clothing shape is principally described in seven factors that are composed of clothing design, clothing material, clothing size, pattern design, sewing method and body motion etc. The aims of this study was to measurement out-line space-shape variation of clothing fitness with body by using the image processing. The subjects for direct anthropometric measurements were 248 female college students aged from 19 to 22. The data were statistically analyzed by principal analysis and cluster analysis. The results selected one somatotype. for the out-line space-shape variation of clothing fitness with body, there dimensional clothing shapes measured. and cross-sectional clothing shape obtained by the measurement was considered to be space wave form. The out-line space-shape variation of clothing fitness with body was observed between the node number and amplitudes of clothing wave form, and node number was determined at the maxim of space-shape amplitude, and the space-shape amplitudes have related with aspect ratio of cross-sectional shape. • Orderings and electronic structures of organic molecules on metal substrates have been studied due to possible applications in electronic devices. In molecular systems, delocalized pi-electrons play important roles in the adsorption behaviors and electronic structures. We studied the adsorption and electronic structures of Co-Porphyrin molecules on Au(111) using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and spectroscopy (STS) at low temperature. Molecules form closely packed two-dimensional islands on Au(111) surface with two different types, having different shape evolutions in our energy-dependent STM observations. The Kondo resonance state, occurred by spin exchange interaction between the Co center atom and conduction electrons in the metal substrate, was observed in one type, while it was absent in the other type in scanning tunneling spectroscopy measurements. Possible origins of two molecular shapes will be discussed.

  • A technique for damage localization and assessment based on measurements of both eigenvectors curvatures and eigenfrequencies is proposed. The procedure is based on two successive steps: a model independent localization, based on changes of modal curvatures, and the solution of a one-dimensional minimization problem to evaluate damage intensity. The observability properties of damage parameters is discussed and, accordingly, a suitable change of coordinates is introduced. The proposed technique is illustrated with reference to a cantilever Euler beam endowed with a set of piezoelectric transducers. To assess the robustness of the algorithm, a parametric study of the identification errors with respect to the number of transducers and to the number of considered modal quantities is carried out with both clean and noise-corrupted data.

  • The magnetoresistance (MR) and the magnetization reversal of a lateral spin-injection device based on a spin-polarized field effect transistor (spin FET) have been investigated. The device consists of a two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) system in an InAs single quantum well (SQW) and two ferromagnetic $(Ni_{80}Fe_{20})$ contacts: all injector (source) and a detector (drain). Spin-polarized electrons are injected from the first contact and, after propagating through the InAs SQW are collected by the second contact. By engineering the shape of the permalloy contacts, we were able to observe distinct switching fields $(H_c)$ from the injector and the collector by using scanning Kerr microscopy and MR measurements. Magneto-optic Kerr effect (MOKE) hysteresis loops demonstrate that there is a range of magnetic field (20~60 Oe), at room temperature, over which the magnetization in one contact is aligned antiparallel to that in the other. The MOKE results are consistent with the variation of the magnetoresistance in the spin-injection device.

  • The pressure dependence of the Curie temperature was determined in 2-dimensional like ferromagnet, MnAlGe up to a maximum pressure of 7.5 Gpa through measurements of electric resistance vs temperature curves. The pressure coefficient was positive with a considerably high rate of 9 K/GPa in the low pressure ragion, while it decreased gradually down to one order of magnitude smaller value at the maximum pressure. It was concluded that ther is an upper limit of about 550 K in the super-exchange type ferromagnetic interaction between Mn layers.

  • Exact optical characterization of virtual and augmented reality devices using conventional luminance measuring methods is a time-consuming process. A new measurement method is proposed to estimate in a relatively short time the boundary of ray trajectories emitting from a specific position on a virtual images. It is assumed that the virtual image can be modeled to be formed in front of one's eyes and seen through some optical aperture (field stop) that limits the field of view. Circular and rectangular shaped virtual images were investigated. From the estimated ray boundary, optical characteristics, such as the viewing direction and three dimensional range inside which a eye can observe the specified positions of the virtual image, were derived. The proposed method can provide useful data for avoiding the unnecessary measurements required for the previously reported method. Therefore, this method can be complementary to the previously reported method for reducing the whole measurement time of optical characteristics.

  • The effects of acoustic resonance and volute geometry on phase resonance are studied theoretically and experimentally using a centrifugal fan. One dimensional theoretical model is developed taking account of the reflection from the discharge pipe end. It was found that the phase resonance occurs, even with the effects of acoustic resonance, when the rotational speed of rotor-stator interaction pattern agrees with the sound velocity. This was confirmed by experiments with and without a silencer at the discharge pipe exit. The pressure wave measurements showed that there are certain effects of the cross-sectional area change of the volute which is neglected in the one dimensional model. To clarify the effects of area change, experiments were carried out by using a ring volute with a constant area. It was demonstrated that the phase resonance occurs for both interaction modes travelling towards/away from the volute. The amplitude of travelling wave grows towards the volute exit for the modes rotating towards the volute exit, in the same direction as the impeller. However, a standing wave is developed in the volute for the modes rotating away from the volute exit in the opposite direction as the impeller, as a result of the interaction of a growing wave while travelling towards the tongue and a reflected wave away from the tongue.

  • We developed a line standards measurement system using an optical microscope and measured two kinds of line standards. It consists of three main parts: an optical microscope module including a CCD camera, a stage system with a linear encoder, and a measurement program for a microscopic image processing. The magnification of microscope part was calibrated using one-dimensional gratings and the angular motion of stage was measured to estimate the Abbe error. The threshold level in line width measurement was determined by comparing with certified values of a line width reference specimen, and its validity was proved through the measurement of another line width specimen. The expanded uncertainty (k=2) was about 100 nm in the measurements of $1{\mu}m{\sim}10{\mu}m$ line width. In the comparison results of line spacing measurement, two kinds of values were coincide within the expanded uncertainty, which were obtained by the one-dimensional measuring machine in KRISS and the line standards measurement system. The expanded uncertainty (k=2) in the line spacing measurement was estimated as $\sqrt{(0.098{\mu}m)^2+(1.8{\times}10^{-4}{\times}L)^2}$. Therefore, it will be applied effectively to the calibration of line standards, such as line width and line spacing, with the expanded uncertainty of several hundreds nanometer.

  • Today, great percentage of apparel fabrics comprise knit products. A few apparel items are almost exclusively made from knit products including sweaters, T-shirts, lingerie, and hosiery. In weft knits, intermeshing yarn traverses the fabric crosswise. The production rate of knitting machines is about four times higher than that of conventional looms iin proportion to the amount of fabric produced per unit time. Knit apparels fabrics are noted for freedom of body movement, easy-care, resilience, soft draping and quality. The appearance of fabrics is of prime importance along with tactile features such as smoothness, crispness, stiffness when we deal with the handling evaluation of the textiles. In practice, the quality and performance of fabrics judged by sighted evaluators, and it is perhaps logical, in attempting to establish an effective fabric objective measurement system. It is worthwhile to make objective measurement that correlate well with subjective evaluations made by sight and touch together. However, it often imposes difficulties to effectively measure and analyze the appearance or optical properties of the textile surface features. In this study, an attempt is made to provide a preliminary approach to the analysis of the gloss property, which is one of the optical properties of fabrics. The specimens range from 70/24 nylon 6 filament yarn knit fabric to 70/68 nylon 6 filament yarn knit fabric, the latter being finer. A few three-dimensional models based on Peirce's model of knit stitch have been proposed and material properties were given to calculate the properties. Goniophotometric measurements of the specimens were also carried out.
