In this paper, we propose a new data encoding algorithm for a two-dimensional bar code system. In general, the one-dimensional bar code is just a key which can access detailed information to the host computer database. But the two-dimensional bar code is a new technology which can obtain high density information without access to the host computer database. We implemented the encoding algorithm for Data Matrix bar code which is the most widely used among the many kinds of two-dimensional bar codes in the field of marking using Digital Signal Processor (TMS320C31). The performance of the proposed algorithm is verified by comparing the imprinted symbols on the steel surfaces with the codes which are decoded by a bar code reader.

The supersonic gas ejector, as gas dynamic appliance, has been applied for a long time because of simplicity and reliability. However, for the prediction of ejector performances with given parameters, that is, working gas pressure and the nozzle shape, it is necessary to raise accuracy of modelling for properties of ejector gas flow. The purpose of the represented work is to compare one-dimensional modelling and numerical results with experimental results. The ejector with a conic nozzle has been designed and tested (Mach number at the nozzle exit section was 3.31, the nozzle throat diameter - 6 mm). Working gas - nitrogen, was brought from system of gas bottles. Diameter of the mixture chamber at the nozzle exit section was limited by condensation temperature of nitrogen and equaled 20 mm. The one-dimensional theory predicted the minimal starting pressure equaled 8.18 bar (absolute) and 0.051 bar in the vacuum chamber. Accordingly the minimal starting pressure was 9.055 bar and 0.057 in the vacuum chamber bar have been fixed in experiment.

This paper presents a super-resolution reconstruction method based on sparse representation for two-dimensional bar code images. Considering the features of two-dimensional bar code images, Kirsch and LBP (local binary pattern) operators are used to extract the edge gradient and texture features. Feature extraction is constituted based on these two features and additional two second-order derivatives. By joint dictionary learning of the low-resolution and high-resolution image patch pairs, the sparse representation of corresponding patches is the same. In addition, the global constraint is exerted on the initial estimation of high-resolution image which makes the reconstructed result closer to the real one. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm for two-dimensional bar code images by comparing with other reconstruction algorithms.
Conventional bar code has the appearance of line bars and spaces, called as one-dimensional bar code. In contrast, the information in two-dimensional bar code is represented by either a small, rectangular or square with the types of mosaic and Braille. The two-dimensional bar code is much more efficient than one-dimensional bar code because it can allow to store and express large amounts of data in a small space and so far there is also a little information about decoding the Data Matrix in base 256 mode. According to the ISO international standards, there are four kinds of bar code: QR code, Data Matrix, PDF417, and Maxi code. In this paper, among them, we focus on describing the basic concepts of Data Matrix in base 256 mode, how to encode and decode them, and how to organize them in detail. In addition, Data Matrix can be organized efficiently depending on the modes of numeric, alphanumeric characters, and binary system and expecially, we focus on describing how to decode the Data Matrix code by four modes.

In this paper we propose a new watermarking scheme using a data matrix and a cryptograph key. The data matrix of two-dimensional bar codes is a new technology capable of holding relatively large amounts of data compared to the conventional one-dimensional bar code. And a cryptograph key is used to prevent a watermark from malicious attacks. We encoded the copyright information into a data matrix bar code, and it was spread as a pseudo random pattern using the owner key. The experimental results show that the proposed scheme has good quality and is robust to various attacks, such as JPEG compression, filtering and resizing. Also the performance of the proposed scheme is verified by comparing the copyright information with the information which is extracted from the watermark.

We embedded a randomized watermark into the image using watermark's embedding position, pattern generated with a secret key. The experimental results have shown that the proposed scheme has good quality and is very robust to various attacks, such as JPEG compression and noise. Differential pressure flow meters which have a shape of triangular separate bar(TSB) were tested for investigating the flow rate characteristics of the flow meters with varying the temperature of the gas flow. Three kinds of the triangular separate bar flow meters whose aerodynamic angles are different one another are used. The mass flow rate of the flow meters are evaluated using a non-dimensional parameter which includes the gas temperature, exhaust gas pressure and differential pressure at the flow meters, and atmospheric pressure. A burner system which is similar to gas turbine was used for raising the gas flow temperature. The burner system was operated with varying the air/fuel ratio by controlling both the fuel injection rate from the fuel nozzle and air flow rate from a blower. An empirical correlation between the mass flow rate at the TSB flow meter and the non-dimensional parameter was obtained. The empirical correlation showed linear relationship between the mass flow rate and the non-dimensional parameter H. Also, the mass flow rate characteristics at the TSB flow meter was affected by the gas temperature.
Reinforced concrete (RC) structures consist of two different materials: concrete and steel bar. The stress transfer behaviour between the two materials through bond plays an important role in the load-carrying capacity of RC structures, especially when they subject to lateral load such as blast and seismic load. Therefore, bond and slip between concrete and reinforcement bar will affect the response of RC structures under such loads. However, in most numerical analyses of blast-induced structural responses, the perfect bond between concrete and steel bar is often assumed. The main reason is that it is very difficult to model bond slip in the commercial finite element software, especially in hydrodynamic codes. In the present study, a one-dimensional slide line contact model in LS-DYNA for modeling sliding of rebar along a string of concrete nodes is creatively used to model the bond slip between concrete and steel bars in RC structures. In order to model the bond slip accurately, a new approach to define the parameters of the one-dimensional slide line model from common pullout test data is proposed. Reliability and accuracy of the proposed approach and the one-dimensional slide line in modelling the bond slip between concrete and steel bar are demonstrated through comparison of numerical results and experimental data. A case study is then carried out to investigate the bond slip effect on numerical analysis of blast-induced responses of a RC column. Parametric studies are also conducted to investigate the effect of bond shear modulus, maximum elastic slip strain, and damage curve exponential coefficient on blast-induced response of RC columns. Finally, recommendations are given for modelling the bond slip in numerical analysis of blast-induced responses of RC columns.

The coiling station of ISP coil box is an equipment that winds a hot bar rolled at reduction unit into a coil without mandrel. In the coiling process, the roll gap of the bending unit is a significant one of several factors that influence bar coiling. To obtain a good bar-coil, the roll gap must be set appropriately according to the bar thickness. In this study, with 2-dimensional isothermal elastic-plastic finite element method, authors investigated influence of the change of the roll gap on the initial coiling shapes and the formed inner diameters of coils. Based on finite element analysis, authors proposed the appropriate roll gap according to the bar thickness to be able to wind a hot bar. The inner diameters of coils by results of analysis comparatively agreed with coling operation conducted in plant.
The split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) technique is widely used to characterize the dynamic mechanical response of engineering materials at high strain rates. In this paper, attendant problems associated with testing 70 mm diameter concrete specimens are considered, analysed and resolved. An adaptation of a conventional solid circular striker bar, as a means of achieving reliable and repeatable SHPB tests, is then proposed. In the analysis, a pseudo one-dimensional model is used to analyse wave propagation in a non-uniform striker bar. The stress history of the incident wave is then obtained by using the finite difference method. Comparison was made between incident waves determined from the simplified model, finite element solution and experimental data. The results show that the simplified method is adequate for designing striker bar shapes to overcome difficulties commonly encountered in SHPB tests. Using two specifically designed striker bars, tests were conducted on 70 mm diameter steel fibre reinforced concrete specimens. The results are presented in the paper.
