A Development of Automation System of Auto-Recognition for Device Modules using Micro-Processing Unit (MPU를 이용한 디바이스 모듈 자동 인식 자동화 시스템의 개발)

  • This paper proposed design and implementation of automation system that recognize device module boards automatically that are connected on main control board. The system of this paper is divided to main board and device module boards, and the main board is designed a board by slot structure. The slot structure is possible a extension for upgrade and addition of board ability. Besides, it is easier a establishment and disjointing because it recognizes automatically a device board. The proposed system in this paper compares with K10S1 PLC. The result shows an advantage of extensibility and ability, and it is reduced expense and period for development.

Maritime radar display unit based on PC for safe ship navigation

  • A prototype radar display unit was implemented using inexpensive off-the-shelf components, including a nonlinear estimation algorithm for the target tracking in a clutter environment. Two custom designed boards; an analog signal processing board and a DSP board, can be plugged into an expansion slot of a personal computer (PC) to form a maritime radar display unit. Our system provided all the functionality specified in the International Maritime Organization (IMO) resolution A422(XI). The analog signal processing board was used for A/D conversion as well as rain and sea clutter suppression. The main functions of the DSP board were scan conversion and video overlay operations. A host PC was used to run the tracking algorithm of targets in clutter, using the discrete-time Bayes optimal (nonlinear, and non-Gaussian) estimation method, and the graphic user interface (GUI) software for Automatic Radar Plotting Aid (ARPA). The proposed tracking method recursively found the entire probability density function of the target position and velocity by converting into linear convolution operations.

  • In optimum design of packaging container for bulk materials, minimum board area, compression performance and distribution efficiency must be considered. In this study, mathematical models for minimum board area (RMA), compression strength (CS) and maximum compression strength per unit board area (MCSA) of container as algorithm for optimum design of packaging conatiner for bulk materials were developed as follows : RMA=f(V,D), ${\alpha}_{RMA}=f(V,D)$, MCSA=f(V,D), and ${\alpha}_{MCSA}=f(V,D)$. In order to develop these models, compression test according to various dimensions of container and response surface analysis for minimum board area, compression strength, and maximum compression strength per unit board area of container were carried out. In developed models, volume and depth of container were principal independent variables. Through the verified results for these models, optimum design of packaging container on the design conditions and limit conditions was possible. These models might be used in developing optimum design software of packaging container for bulk materials.

  • As communication technology, an enabling technology for ITS, becomes diversified with DSRC, CDMA, Wireless LAN, it is expected that type and function of ITS services will become gradually expanded. As a result, research and development of a standard platform that can provide support so that numerous communication technologies that are being used in various ITS services to receive various ITS services can be operated in one integrated terminal are being carried out. On Board Unit (OBU) for a recent standard platform was also built and tested recently. However, verification for standard suitability of the standard platform OBU that was developed must be carried out. Standard technology must be realized and sufficient functional and operational testing must be carried out in order to guarantee efficient operation in an actual ITS system and increase utilization of standard technology. Therefore, In this paper we had constructed test road and we had tested a standard platform OBU for a standard application.

  • In this paper, we installed three high brightness red, green, and blue LED in one socket and made one pixel unit. And we also developed the full-color display board module and control unit which can express various images such as text, graphics, video image with the combination of pixel units and a number of modules. LED display driver module have a driver circuit within the combination of the RGB pixel dot on unit area. These modules of the existing form can be high priced because of implementation a fixed resolution in specific space and installation space. To overcome these shortcomings, we developed a LED driver and LED pixel modules free in array at random pitch intervals. Display board module of this paper enabled to display smoothly video image which have many data processing quantity through dragging data speed up 36 frames per second. Also there are an effect which is provided more clear image because of improving the flickering of the existing display board.

  • This study analyzed the questions posted on the chemistry Q&A board by students and teachers in a chemistry education homepage, in order to understand the difficulties in learning and teaching chemistry. The different tendencies were found in the contents and the motivations of questions by students and teachers. In Chemistry I, students raised many questions in the 'Water' unit, while teachers raised many ones in the 'Chemical compound in our life' unit. In Chemistry II, students asked many questions in the 'Gas, liquid, solid' unit, while teachers did in 'Chemical reaction and energy' unit. Students' motivations of questioning were 'Explanation of unclear concept', and 'Problem solving', while teachers' motivations were 'Searching information', and 'Question in experiment'. The Q&A board provided a field in exchanging informations needed in learning and teaching chemistry. Educational implications were discussed on the use of Q&A board in chemistry education.

  • We have designed the power control unit which belongs to the power cabinet and controls the power supplied to Control Rod Drive Mechanism(CRDM) as a digital system based on Digital Signal Processor(DSP). The power control unit dualized as the form of Master/Slave has had its increased reality. The Central Process Unit(CPU) board of a power control unit possesses two Digital Signal Processors(DSPs) of the control DSP for performing the tasks of power control and system monitoring and the communication of the Control DSP and the Communication DSP. To accomplish the functions requested in the power control unit effectively, we have installed Field Programmable Gate Arrays(FPGAS) on the CPU board and have FPGAs perform the memory mapping, the generation of each chip selection signal, the giving and receiving of the signals between the power controllers dualized, the fault detection and the generation of the firing signals.

  • Printed Circuit Boards for satellite are composed of multi-layered copper plate and glass epoxy. Each copper layer have the complicated and different pattern to operate correctly for its mission. Especially. copper layer give effect on the PCB stiffness seriously. But It can make more complicate to predict the exact stiffness of PCB. In KOMPSAT-2 program, too many type of PCB are used for each electronic unit, and they have different type of pattern of copper layer. Solar array regulator has two type of PCB and it will be considered for this study. In this study. we calculate the PCB board stiffness of KOMPSAT-2 SAR unit considering the concept of simplified representative volume element. It will be correlated with the test results under KOMPSAT-2 vibration environmental condition to increase the reliability of this study.

PCB Board Impedance Analysis Using Similarity Transform for Transmission Matrix (전송선로행열에 대한 유사변환을 이용한 PCB기판 임피던스 해석)

  • As the operating frequency of digital system increases and voltage swing decreases, an accurate and high speed analysis of PCB board becomes very important. Transmission matrix method, which use the multiple products of unit column matrix, is the highest speedy method in PCB board analysis. In this paper a new method to reduce the calculation time of PCB board impedances is proposed. First, in this method the eigenvalue and eigenvectors of the transmission matrix for unit column of PCB are calculated and the transmission matrix for the unit column is transformed using similarity transform to reduce the number of multiplication on the matrix elements. This method using the similarity transform can reduce the calculation time greatly comparing the previous method. The proposed method is applied to the 1.3 inch by 1.9 inch board and shows about 10 times reduction of calculation time. This method can be applied to the PCB design which needs a lots of repetitive calculation of board impedances.

  • The VAL 208 in Uijeongbu Light Rail system is a light railway vehicle which could be operated in driverless supported by Siemens. It is a Rubber Wheel Type AGT (Automatic Guideway Transit). It will be operated in two car train about 11km of Uijeongbu line. In this paper, the technical overview of the ATC system and the interface between the system and the way side control equipments are presented. It includes the main functions of OBCU(On Board control Unit) and its information sharing method with WCU(Way side control Unit). The testing procedure of OBCU is also discussed.
