  • In the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Line-Of-Sight datalink system, there is a possibility that the communication line is disconnected because line of sight can not be secured by one antenna due to changes in position and posture of the air vehicle. In order to prevent this, both top and bottom of air vehicle are equipped with antennas. At this time, if the signal can be transmitted and received by switching to an antenna advantageous for securing the line of sight, communication disconnection can be minimized. The legacy antenna switching method has disadvantages such that diffraction, fading due to the surface or obstacles, interference and reflection of the air vehicle are not considered, or antenna switching standard is not clear. In this paper, we propose an airborne antenna switching method for improving the performance of UAV LOS datalink system. In the antenna switching method, the performance of each of the upper and lower parts of the mounted antenna according to the position and attitude of the air vehicle is predicted by using the deep learning in an UAV LOS datalink system in which only the antenna except the receiver is duplicated. Simulation using flying test dataset shows that it is possible to switch antennas considering the position and attitude of unmanned aerial vehicle in the datalink system.

  • In this paper, a GNSS-based AGV system was designed, and steering tested on a golf cart using electric wires in order to confirm the control efficiency of the low speed vehicle which used only position information of GNSS. After analyzed the existing AGVs system, we developed controller and steering algorithm using GNSS based position information. To analyze the performance of the developed controller and steering algorithm, straight-type and circle-type trajectory test are executed. The results show that steering performance of GNSS-based AGV system is ${\pm}\;0.2m$ for a reference trajectory.

  • This study has confirmed that subjective positive and negative aspects a driver feels by applying haptic seat on a vehicle to substantiate vehicle navigation system. Our experiment with total twenty subjects provides that the reaction time (RT) is superior in haptic interface than visual or auditory interface but subjective satisfaction, which subjects feel, and workload is less low in a simulator environment. Although, the difference of individuals and unfamiliarity is relatively high inasmuch as the experiment of absolutely new technology, but overall satisfaction of haptic seat is high. The result of study provides some consideration and direction to need in implementation of a haptic seat and it also confirms their possibility meaningfully. We expect the interaction between a driver and a vehicle and safety improvement potentially through applied haptic seat on actual vehicles.

  • Smart Device Communications using the development of anti-theft system for vehicles have been investigated. because Progress of Smart Device If someone get the Key for Vehicle theft, he can be easily stolen vehicle. We thought about the concept of dual security devices. Using vehicle's identifier ID of CAN, when Comparing Smat phone identifier ID value and identifier ID received from the Can in the Head, If the same ID is compared. At this point after the activity of the vehicle's ACC On/Off the system allows the vehicle's ignition.

  • It has been considered that factors affecting accuracy of the estimated weight of moving vehicle by BWIM system are vehicle and bridge characteristics, and measurement conditions which is related to the strain curve. In this study, theoretical review and field test were performed to evaluate effect of these factors in BWIM system. From these evaluations, we proposed a way to improve accuracy of the estimated vehicle information in BWIM system. As the results, it was known that girder type and continuity of spans in bridge are not governing factor, but its plane shape gives large influence on accuracy of the estimated vehicle information. In addition, running speed of vehicle has also large effect on the estimated accuracy of axle distance if the distance between second and third axles is short. However, weight sum of the two axles can be estimated reasonably by assuming them as one axle.

  • This study is concerned with the control system design using Labview Simulation Interface Toolkit and Matlab/simulink combined system for an application to the personal rapid transit system which has very short headway, requiring accurate speed control to avoid the impact between the vehicles. A simple equation of motion for a vehicle which is activated on the linear motor is introduced. A speed profile that should be tracked by a rear vehicle is produced based on the state information of the two vehicles(the preceding vehicle and the rear vehicle). The speed profile tracking control system is designed by Matlab/simulink. The simulation results show that the proposed control system is effective to evaluate the speed tracking performance.

  • In next-generation electric vehicles, research is being conducted on an in-wheel motor system that directly controls torque by each wheel to improve total cost and driving performance. Accordingly, in this paper, a study was conducted on an algorithm that distributes the torque applied to each wheel in a torque vectoring system applied to an in-wheel motor for driving an electric vehicle. In order to implement a vehicle model that applies actual vehicle characteristic parameters according to vehicle driving and steering, a simulation was conducted in the MATLAB Simulink environment, and it was confirmed that torque distribution was performed according to the proposed algorithm.

  • This paper presents an image processing technique to get traffic information such as vehicle volume, velocity, and occupancy for measuring the traffic congestion rate. To obtain these information, two horizontal lines are previously set on the screen. A moving vehicle is detected using the gray level difference on each line, and also template matching method at night. Threshold values are determined by sampling pavement grey level, and updated dynamically to cope with the change of ambient light conditions. These technique is successfully used to calculate vehicle volume, occupancy, and velocity. This study can be applied to traffic signal control system for minimizing traffic congestion in urban areas.

  • We propose a vehicle-mounted, location-aware mobile digital signage system that can be used for public transportation through mobile communication. This paper proposes the installations of the LED display panels at the backside of the bus., which display traffic information to cars behind the bus. Information to be displayed would include, but is not limited to, road information, public commercials and private commercials. We propose the system architecture and further implement the prototype of mobile digital signage system for demonstration. The system is based on the Client-Server system. Each bus has a client terminal which detects the current location by a GPS receiver and sends its location information to the server using mobile communication function. The terminal device receives advertisements and traffic information from the server and displays it to the large LCD or LED panel installed at the inside and outside of the bus. We use the Android smartphone as a client system, which inherently equipped with GPS and mobile communication function. GPS detects the location of bus and reports its geo-location data to the traffic information center server via a wireless communication network. On the server side, we developed a specially designed control server, where it communicates with the other traffic information center and updates and manages the databases contents being displayed by each position. The server contains location dependent variable information and returns selected information back to the vehicle in real time. Spatial database is used to process location based data. Server system periodically receives the real time traffic information from the road information center database. And it process the information by bus location and bus line number. In this paper, we propose a mobile digital signage service and explain the system implementation of this service.

  • In this paper, we analyze the Non-Holonomic Constraint (NHC) satisfaction of Inertial Navigation System (INS) for vehicular navigation according to Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) location. In INS-based vehicle navigation, NHC information is widely used to improve INS performance. That is, the error of the INS can be compensated under the condition that the velocity in the body coordinate system of the vehicle occurs only in the forward direction. In this case, the condition that the vehicle's wheels do not slip and the vehicle rotates with the center of the IMU must be satisfied. However, the rotation of the vehicle is rotated by the steering wheel which is controlled based on the Ackermann geometry, where the center of rotation of the vehicle exists outside the vehicle. Due to this, a phenomenon occurs that the NHC is not satisfied depending on the mounting position of the IMU. In this paper, we analyze this problem based on Ackermann geometry and prove the analysis result based on simulation.
