마찰저항이 연속누출과 순간누출을 가지는 액체 풀의 확산에 미치는 영향에 대한 해석적 연구 (Effect of Frictional Resistance Force on a Liquid Pool Spreading Model with Continuous and Instantaneous Release)

  • In this study, solutions for a liquid pool spreading model with continuous and instantaneous release are discussed based on the model used in the FERC's report. The effects of the release time on the liquid pool volume and radius are investigated for the continuous release. For the continuous release with the frictional resistance force in the liquid pool spreading model, the vaporization time decreases as the release time increases. On the other hand, for the continuous release without the frictional resistance force in the liquid pool spreading model, the vaporization time increases as the release time increases. These phenomena are deeply related to the pool radius. In addition, the effects of the initial pool radius for the instantaneous release in the liquid pool spreading model are discussed. For the case with the frictional resistance force in the liquid pool spreading model, as reducing release time in the model with the frictional resistance force for the continuous release, the solution for a continuous release approaches to that for an instantaneous release. On the contrary to this, the pool volume and radius for the instantaneous release without the frictional resistance force are totally different from those for the continuous release without the frictional resistance force.

KSTAR 용 소선-소선 접합부의 직류저항 계산 (Calculation of DC resistance of strand-to-strand joints for KSTAR)

  • Since the strand-to-strand type joint far CICC (Cable-In-Conduit Conductor) is small in size and has low DC resistance, it is expected to be useful type fur a superconducting magnet system which had a compact structure like the KSTAR (Korea Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research) coil system. The DC resistance is changed according to the distribution patterns of strands in cables connected together in the joint. A commercial code was used for the calculation of the DC resistance. With the decrease of outer diameter of the Joint, Which means the increase of strand volume fraction in the joint, the calculated DC resistance decrease rapidly and non-lineally. The variation of resistance depends mainly on the volume fraction of solder which has higher resistivity than copper. The resistance decrease inversely with the increase of the length of the joint. The resistance increase with increase of number of triplets in each stack contacted with that of another terminal cable. In case of the strand-to-strand joint that has 62mm of outer diameter, 52mm of inner diameter, 100mm of overlap length, and four triplets in each stack, the calculated DC resistance is less than 1 n-Ohm.

A Study on Composites of Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate Copolymer and Ethylene-Propylene-Diene Rubber with Aluminum Hydroxide as a Fire Retardant

  • The composites of EVA/EPDM including aluminum trioxide (ATH) as a fire retardant were manufactured for the purpose of improving low temperature property and flame resistance in the rubbery materials. The ratio of EVA to EPDM didn't affect the flame resistance of the rubber composites. The addition of ATH resulted in increase of the flame resistance. In the evaluation of the cold resistance, the increasing EPDM content showed enhancement of cold resistance in the composites due to increasing low Tg EPDM. It was found out that tensile strengths of the composites showed a maximum value at 100 phr of ATH by reinforcing effect, but a minimum value at 200 phr of ATH owing to slippage between the flame retardant by the external stress. In the measurement of solvent resistance in tetrahydrofuran, the increasing ATH content yielded enhancement of solvent resistance by reducing swelling of the composite, and increasing EPDM content also resulted from increase of the solvent resistance by reduction of polarizability as well as increase of crosslink in the composites.

Effects of the Abduction Resistance of the Hip Joint during Bridge Exercise in Patients with Chronic Back Pain: A Cross-Over Study

  • PURPOSE: This study examined the effects of the resistance levels on the muscle activities around the hip and spine during bridge exercise with hip abduction resistance in patients with chronic back pain. METHODS: A cross-over study design was used. Twenty subjects with low back pain were enrolled in this study. The subjects performed bridge exercises with hip abduction resistances (20 mmHg, 40 mmHg, and 60 mmHg). A Narrow Sling was used to provide resistance. Surface electromyography was used to measure the activity of the erector spinae, biceps femoris, gluteus maximus, and gluteus medius. RESULTS: The muscle activity of the gluteus maximus and gluteus medius increased significantly with increasing resistance levels. There was a significant difference in the muscle activity of the biceps femoris with a resistance level between 20 mmHg and 40 mmHg, but there was no significant difference in the other resistance levels. There was no significant difference according to resistance level in the erector spinae. The muscle activity ratios of the gluteus medius/erector spinae and gluteus maximus/erector spinae increased significantly with increasing resistance strength. CONCLUSION: The different levels of abduction resistance for hip abduction during bridge exercise will help activate the gluteus maximus selectively in patients with chronic back pain.

Significance of Clopidogrel Resistance Related to the Stent-Assisted Angioplasty in Patients with Atherosclerotic Cerebrovascular Disease

  • Objective : To evaluate the prevalence and risk factors of clopidogrel resistance, and association between thromboembolic complications and clopidogrel resistance in patient with stent-assisted angioplasty for atherosclerotic cerebrovascular disease. Methods : Between September 2006 and June 2008, clopidogrel resistance test was performed on 41 patients who underwent stent-assisted angioplasty for atherosclerotic cerebrovascular disease. It was performed before drug administration and about 12 hours after drug administration (loading dose : 300 mg, maintain dose : 75 mg). Two patients were excluded, and 41 patients were included (mean : $67.59{\pm}7.10$ years, age range : 41-79). Among 41 patients, 18 patients had intracranial lesions, and 23 had extracranial lesions. We evaluated the prevalence, risk factors and complications related to clopidogrel resistance. Results : Twenty-one patients (51.2%) showed clopidogrel resistance [intracranial : 10 patients (55.6%), extracranial : 11 patients (47.8%)] and no clopidogrel resistance was seen in 20 patients. Hypercholesterolemia was an indepedent risk factor of clopidogrel resistance. Stent-assisted angioplasty was technically successful in all patients, but acute in-stent thrombosis occurred in 5 patients with intracranial lesions (4 patients with clopidogrel resistance and 1 without clopidogrel resistance). Acute thrombi were completely lysed after intra-arterial infusion of abciximab. Conclusion : There was relatively high prevalence of clopidogrel resistance in patients with atherosclerotic cerebrovascular disease. Hypercholesterolemia was an independent predictive factor of clopidogrel resistance. Acute in-stent thrombosis was more frequently seen in the clopidogrel resistant group. Therefore, clopidogrel resistance test should be performed to avoid thromboembolic complications related to stent-assisted angioplasty for atherosclerotic cerebrovascular disease, especially patients with hypercholeterolemia and intracranial lesion.

Oleamide 및 아라미드 칩을 첨가한 NBR 고무재료의 내소음성 및 물성 연구 (A Study on Noise Resistance and Physical Properties of NBR Rubber Materials Containing Oleamide and Aramid Chip)

  • 내소음성과 내균열성을 가진 고무재료의 개발을 목적으로 NBR에 oleamide와 아라미드를 첨가하여 함량에 따른 가황특성, 물리적 성질, 내열성, 내유성, 내마모성, 내균열성 및 내소음성을 조사하였다. 가황특성과 Mooney 점도를 측정한 결과, 미가황고무의 가황특성은 oleamide의 양이 증가할수록 torque가 감소하였다. oleamide의 함량이 3 phr까지 증가함에 따라 경도 및 모듈러스 값은 조금씩 감소하였고 신장률은 감소하는 경향을 나타내었으며 인장강도는 거의 변화가 없었다. 내열성 시험(70시간, $120^{\circ}C$) 및 내유성 시험(70시간, $40^{\circ}C$)을 수행한 결과. 인장강도와 신장률이 모두 감소하였으며, TGA/DSC 분석 결과 첨가제에 따른 배합고무재료의 열적특성은 변화가 없었다. 기본물성, 내마모성, 내소음성 및 내균열성을 종합한 결과, NBR 227001 고무재료에서 내마모성과 내소음성에 대한 oleamide의 최적배합비는 3 phr였으며, 내균열성에 대한 아라미드의 최적배합비는 1 phr로 나타났다.

CDRgator: An Integrative Navigator of Cancer Drug Resistance Gene Signatures

  • Understanding the mechanisms of cancer drug resistance is a critical challenge in cancer therapy. For many cancer drugs, various resistance mechanisms have been identified such as target alteration, alternative signaling pathways, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, and epigenetic modulation. Resistance may arise via multiple mechanisms even for a single drug, making it necessary to investigate multiple independent models for comprehensive understanding and therapeutic application. In particular, we hypothesize that different resistance processes result in distinct gene expression changes. Here, we present a web-based database, CDRgator (Cancer Drug Resistance navigator) for comparative analysis of gene expression signatures of cancer drug resistance. Resistance signatures were extracted from two different types of datasets. First, resistance signatures were extracted from transcriptomic profiles of cancer cells or patient samples and their resistance-induced counterparts for >30 cancer drugs. Second, drug resistance group signatures were also extracted from two large-scale drug sensitivity datasets representing ~1,000 cancer cell lines. All the datasets are available for download, and are conveniently accessible based on drug class and cancer type, along with analytic features such as clustering analysis, multidimensional scaling, and pathway analysis. CDRgator allows meta-analysis of independent resistance models for more comprehensive understanding of drug-resistance mechanisms that is difficult to accomplish with individual datasets alone (database URL: http://cdrgator.ewha.ac.kr).

수직밀패형 지중열교환기의 설계인자가 보어홀 전열저항에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Effects of Design Parameters of Vertical Ground Heat Exchanger on the Borehole Thermal Resistance)

  • 현재 지열 열펌프 시스템에 수직밀폐형 지중열교환기가 가장 많이 적용되고 있으며, 수직밀폐형 지중열교환기의 성능에 영향을 미치는 주요 인자로는 지중 열전도율(k)과 보어홀 전열저항($R_b$)이 있다. 본 연구에서는 현장에서 측정된 열응답시험 데이터를 이용하여 보어홀 전열저항을 계산하였으며 지중열교환기 개별 설계인자들(순환수유량, 파이프 수, 그라우팅재)이 보어홀 전열저항에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 또한 도출된 그라우팅 열저항은 문헌에 제시된 다양한 상관식과 비교 분석하였다. 시험데이터를 통해 본 시험에서의 지중열교환기 보어홀 전열저항은 0.1303 W/m.K로 나타났으며, 보어홀 전열저항에서 그라우트 열저항이 66.6 %, 파이프 열저항이 31.5 %, 순환수 대류열저항이 1.9 %를 차지하여 그라우트가 보어홀 열전달에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 인자임을 확인하였다. 또한 각 설계인자의 설계변수가 보어홀 전열저항에 미치는 영향을 분석한 결과 실리카샌드를 혼합하여 그라우트 열전도율를 높이는 방법이 파이프 수 증가나 순환수 유량증가보다 열전달 증진에 더 효과적임을 알 수 있었다.

개수로 측벽 세로돌출줄눈의 흐름저항 (Flow Resistance of Vertical Rib Sidewall in Open Channel)

  • 급경사 산지하천 수충부의 호안은 대부분 콘크리트 옹벽으로 되어있다. 표면이 매끄러운 콘크리트 옹벽호안은 유속을 더 강화시키기 때문에 수충부 홍수피해의 원인이 되기도 한다. 본 연구에서는 개수로의 한 측벽에 설치한 정사각형 단면의 세로돌출줄눈이 흐름저항에 미치는 영향을 파악하기 위해 수리실험을 수행하였다. 돌출줄눈의 설치간격은 무차원 돌출줄눈 간격 ${\lambda}_{nv}$를 기준으로 조도유형 d형과 k형을 포함하도록 설계하였다. 흐름의 Froude 수는0.81~1.12의 범위였다. 흐름저항은 돌출줄눈의 설치간격과 유량에 좌우되었다. ${\lambda}_{nv}$가 9일 때 흐름저항이 가장 큰 것으로 나타났다. 세로돌출줄눈은 유량이 증가하면 d형 조도에서는 흐름저항을 감소시켰으나 k형 조도에서는 흐름저항을 증가시켰다. 흐름저항의 증가폭은 ${\lambda}_{nv}$이 9~12의 범위에서 상대적으로 더 크게 나타났다. 세로돌출줄눈에 의한 흐름저항은 대부분 형상저항에 의한 것이며 그 등가조도높이는 수심규모로 발생할 수 있고 흐름저항에 미치는 영향이 매우 크다. 측벽의 세로돌출줄눈은 흐름저항을 증가시키고 최대유속의 발생위치를 수로의 횡단면 중앙방향으로 이동시키는 수단으로 사용될 수 있을 것이다.
