For the office work environmental design, the importance of the design management is increased to improve operation efficiency as well as the aesthetic environmental implementation of the function today. Lighting is a required element ineffective operation environment. It has become more important for the aesthetic, economic, and practical reasons, to consider the luminous environment and the lighting of visual tasks separately. When the brightness is insufficient, productivity deteriorates, and the layout of the lighting located by mistake causes the fatigue of eyes. Productivity rises to office in a large number of studies so as satisfaction is low in general in the dark office, and to be bright. Therefore the purpose of this research is to suggest the right direction of lighting design of office building area. 11newly renovated office buildings are selected for this luminous environment research. We could conclusions as following through this research. First, it was planned brighter than the recommended lighting level in the most space. It shows that the accurate lighting design criteria is needed in order to achieve proper lighting environment. Second, the application of the LED lighting fixtures is continuously increased in the recent office lighting environment. It is explained that it is applied for reasons of the electrical energy reduction and the maintenance efficiency with the long life time. Third, the consideration of the lighting plan for the difference of working types is not enough. with various communication configuration through an independent plan, and the effective lighting plan that appropriateness preparation design and energy saving area vailable must be applied. Fourth, the lighting environment of the lobby needs a specialized lighting plan as are presentative space of the building.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the usability and satisfaction of space to which positive elements in Leed-Certified Office Building are applied. The study was conducted using the three-step approach. The first step was to understand the building and identify the issues which included the analysis of floor plans, documentations, and the interview with designers and facility managers. The second step was FGI(Focus Group Interviews), which were conducted with mixed employees of rank and location of workplace. Finally, a web-based questionnaire survey was conducted on the 319 executives and employees. Methods of analysis used were quantitative analysis of questionnaire, qualitative analysis of open ended free-answer, and FGI in the second step. Satisfaction, preference, and comfort level were studied using cross tab, co-relation, ANOVA for quantitative analysis. The results of this study are as follows: First, lobby and atrium are representative elements that are functioning positively and it is recognized as sustainable spaces being utilized by users. Second, there are several dead spaces like green shaft, roof garden and sunken space although they can contribute to Leed-certification. Third, there are some problematic spaces such as the O.A. room and the urinals even though they contribute to the Leed-certification.

Diurnal variation of $PM_{10}$ concentration was investigated for 24 sites in library including reading room, bookstock room, lobby, office and so on, and 9 sites in student building at Kangwon National University using scattering light integrated type digital dust indicator. The dimensional conversion factors for mass concentrations (K) were determined by comparing between the $PM_{10}$ concentrations collected by $PM_{10}$ hig volume air sampler and the digital dust indicator. The dimensional conversion factor (K) was 3.33 for indoor air in this experiment. The highest concentrations were 649 $\mug/m^3$/day for smoking room in the library and 242 $\mug/m^3$/day for circle room in the student building. Most of spaces in the library except a office and bookstock rooms were over 150 $\mug/m^3$/day of $PM_{10}$ concentrations and 6 indoor spaces were over the guideline for indoor air quality in student building except a health center and two restaurants. Therefore, it should be required to make an improvement on the indoor air quaility for public facilities in the university buildings.
Because the demand or sensitivity of users of space has an important influence on the direction of design concerning indoor greening, this study examined the customers' preferences and trends for use in this field. By analyzing the results, types of space for indoor greening that can be utilized as indoor greening design such as vegetation selection, space positioning, design types, etc. were derived. The research and analysis was set for living space, business space, commercial space and public space. For each space, there were vegetations in over 50% of the space, and in all the spaces, the majority of people were of the positive opinion. As the desired space for the introduction of indoor greening, high levels of preference were seen in the following areas: 'veranda' and 'living room' for the residential space; 'main work space' and 'resting space' for the office space; and 'rest area,' 'entrance area' and 'lobby area' for the public space and commercial space. The preference of each of the spaces displayed slightly different trends in accordance with the characteristics of space and users. If indoor greening space were to be designed for these spaces according to the types, which are derived from the preference levels examined in this study, it is deemed that the satisfaction levels of users of the spaces could be increased.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristic of common space of public schools in New York City and how the common space can perform a decisive role in enriching public space not as simply connecting between programs but as common space for a wide range of uses for communities as well as students. This study illustrates with a general design guideline of SCA(School of Construction Authority) and how the rules help the common space as an interactive link between community and site/site and school building/building and outdoor space/outdoor space and lobby in the urban context. Since its founding in New York City, 1958, Mitchell/Giurgola Architects office has dedicated itself to working with institutions and public and private schools for 50 years and has been working with SCA for 10 public schools since 1990. Through five school examples by Mitchell Giurgola architects, the study describes how the office suggests public "place" interweaving inner public space and outer public space through lobbies. A result of this research can be proposed what improvements should be made on common space in domestic schools by analyzing of positive aspects of SCA schools.
In this paper, we propose a new algorithm to improve the accuracy of the Wi-Fi access point (AP) positioning technique. The proposed algorithm based on evaluating the trustworthiness of the signal strength quality of each measurement node is superior to other existing AP positioning algorithms, such as the centroid, weighted centroid, multilateration, and radio distance ratio methods, owing to advantages such as reduction of distance errors during positioning, reduction of complexity, and ease of implementation. To validate the performance of the proposed algorithm, we conducted experiments in a complex indoor environment with multiple walls and obstacles, multiple office rooms, corridors, and lobby, and measured the corresponding AP signal strength value at several specific points based on their coordinates. Using the proposed algorithm, we can obtain more accurate positioning results of the APs for use in research or industrial applications, such as finding rogue APs, creating radio maps, or estimating the radio frequency propagation properties in an area.
This research is intended to provide basal material on institute composition of nursing homes that will be built in the near future. According to the result, five of the passages are central type, one of them is extensive type, and the other is group type. Secondly, in living space bedroom area is widest, and both sizes of bedroom system and floor heating system are the same. Thirdly, the sizes of clinic room and physical therapy room are similarly widest in medical space, and people use physical therapy room most frequently. Fourth, dining room and kitchen area are widest in public space, and it is hard to move to program room. Fifth, office area is widest in superintendent space, and it is located near lobby on the first floor. Sixth, the dimension per individual doesn't reach the standard of bedroom size per individual. Seventh, in each space, the rate of whole dimension of living space is highest.

These days, it is essential that a business-class hotel provide customers with Internet service. So the most hotels have been installing facilities actively for Internet service. Businessmen also want to use Internet service level to their own office or home in hotel room. But now TV and VoD(partial) based-on CATV in hotel is supplied, and the additional network are installed for Internet service. The existing TV also must be replaced to HDTV within 2 or 3 years. The objective of this paper is to implement the next generation hotel multimedia service system using xDSL technology, VLAN mapping technology, and QoS technology. This system can provide each room in hotel with high-quality video service and Internet service simultaneously, and can also supply Internet access service using wireless LAN for the Places, such as lobby, conference room, and coffee shop in hotel. Therefore, this system can create the new market in hotel multimedia service field by connecting xDSL technology to VLAN mapping technology for charging and QoS technology for video stream transmission.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the smoking behavior and to provide the basic data required to develop a smoking cessation program. The study subjects were 407 industrial workers in Jecheon. The data were collected using a structured questionnaire. The data were analyzed by the SPSS 10.0 system using descriptive statistics, t-test, and Chi-square test. The study results were as follows 1. Current smokers were $64.0\%$, ex-smokers were $19.1\%$. and non-smokers were $16.9\%$. 2. The most common motives of smoking were anger. anxiety, depression. and stress in the workplace. 3. In smoking habits, about $65.1\%$ of the current smokers smoked 11-20 cigarettes/day, and $91.0\%$ had smoked for more than 5 years. The smoking areas of the workplace were outdoor $37.9\%,\;rest\;room\;34.2\%,\; lobby\;23.0\%,\;corridor\;21.4\%,\;and\;office\;8.6\%$. 4. Regarding smoking cessation, $78.2\%$ of current smokers had attempted. The frequency of smoking cessation attempts was 1-3 or less in $67.2\%$ of smokers. The duration of smoking cessation was 1-3 month or less in $61.6\%$ of the smokers. 5. The mean score for smoking knowledge was 17.62, smoking attitude 75.74. and perceived health state 12.27. 6. There were significant differences between smokers and non-smokers 10 smoking attitude (t=5.29, p=0.00), and perceived health state(t=6.47, p=0.00). 7. As a result of the homogeneity test, both types of smoking and perceived health state proved to have significant differences in the change of health state compared with 4 weeks ago'$(x^2=20.26,\;p=0.00)$ and the level of satisfaction of health state in activities of daily living'$(x^2=15.47,\; p=0.05)$. The important findings of this study showed that a smoking cessation program needs to be developed to enhance the negative smoking attitude. to promote the perceived health state through smoking cessation, to encourage the intention of smoking cessation, and to develop strategies of stress management.
The purposes of this study were 1) to investigate the importance level on factors affecting the foodservice management contract perceived by the clients in the office building, government and public offices and manufacturing company in Seoul and Kyungi 2) to compare the perceived importance levels of the present contract and future contract 3) to compare the perceived importance levels of the competitive bid with those of the private contract. To collect the data on the perceived importance level on the affecting the foodservice management contract, the questionnaires were developed by the delphi technique and modified by the pilot test. The questionnaires consisted of 4 categories and 19 items on the factors affecting the foodservice management contract and the importance level on the factors were measured by 5-likert scale. From March 12 to April 13 in 2003, the self-administrative questionnaires were mailed to 280 clients. The questionnaires were responded from the 50 clients (respondent rate: 25%). On the factors affecting the present contract and the future contract, among the 4 categories (the appropriateness of foodservice operation plan, the evaluation of the foodservice company, sales ability, the conditions of the cost in the contract), the importance level of the appropriateness of foodservice operation plan was higher than those of the other categories. In the comparison of the perceived importance level between the present contract and the future contract, the importance level of 4 items (sanitation and safety management plan, menu management plan, service management plan, food cost per meal) in the future contract were significantly higher than those in the present contract (p<.01, p<.05, p<.05, p<.01). There were the significant differences between the private contract and competitive bid on the factors affecting the present contract in the 3 items, which were $\ulcorner$renewal plan for interior and environment$\lrcorner$, $\ulcorner$strategic alliance with the contractor$\lrcorner$, $\ulcorner$lobby of the foodservice company$\lrcorner$ (p<.05, p<.05, p<.05). And on the factors affecting the future contract, there were significant differences in the 2 items, which were $\ulcorner$renewal plan for interior and environment$\lrcorner$and $\ulcorner$cost per meal$\lrcorner$in comparing the competitive bid and private contract (p<.05, p<.01). The clients perceived the appropriateness of foodservice operation plan was more important than the other categories in the future foodservice management contract. It was proposed that the foodservice management contract company should focus on the foodservice operation to satisfy the customers and clients in order to get more contract in the future.
