  • The scope of the problems that could be solved by monitoring and the improvement of the recognition time is directly correlated to the performance of the management function of the business process. However, the current monitoring process of business activities decides whether to apply warnings or not by assuming a fixed environment and showing expressions based on the design rules. Also, warnings are applied by carrying out the measuring process when the event attribute values are inserted at every point. Therefore, there is a limit for distinguishing the range of occurrence and the level of severity in regard to the new external problems occurring in a complicated environment. Such problems cannot be ed. Also, since it is difficult to expand the range of problems which can be possibly evaluated, it is impossible to evaluate any unexpected situation which could occur in the execution period. In this paper, a process-evaluating model based on the goal scenario is suggested to provide constant services through the current monitoring process in regard to the service demands of the new scenario which occurs outside. The new demands based on the outside situation are analyzed according to the goal scenario for the process activities. Also, by using the meta-heuristic algorithm, a similar process model is found and identified by combining similarity and interrelationship. The process can be stopped in advance or adjusted to the wanted direction.

  • This study was conducted to develop a Web-GIS based monitoring module of smart city that can effectively respond, manage and improve situation in all stages of illegal dumping management on a city scale. First, five technologies were set for the core technical elements of the module configuration. Five core technical elements are as follows; video screening technology based on motion vector analysis, human behavior detection based on intelligent video analytics technology, mobile app for receiving civil complaints about illegal dumping, illegal dumping risk model and street cleanliness map, Web-GIS based situation monitoring technology. The development contents and results for each set of core technical elements were evaluated. Finally, a Web-GIS based 'illegal dumping monitoring module' was proposed. It is possible to collect and analyze city data at the local government level through operating the proposed module. Based on this, it is able to effectively detect illegal dumpers at relatively low cost and identify the tendency of illegal dumping by systematically managing habitual occurrence areas. In the future, it is expected to be developed in the form of an add-on module of the smart city integration platform operated by local governments to ensure interoperability and scalability.

  • This study was undertaken to develop a subacute murine model for predicting occurrence of systemic anaphylaxis and to evaluate efficacy of various immunological parameters as the monitoring indices for the occurrence of anaphyalxis. The murine anaphyalxis model was developed through intraperitoneally sensitizing 100 $\mu\textrm{g}$ ovalbumin (OVA) in the presence of 1 mg alum and 300 ng cholera toxin twice a week interval followed by challenging 500 $\mu\textrm{g}$. OVA intravenously. Typical anaphylaxis symptoms were demonstrated at the both BALB/c mice, a strain prone to type-2 response, and C57BL/6 mice. a strain prone to type-1 response. Level of plasma histamine was approximately 50-fold or 30-fold higher in the mice sensitized with OVA than the mice sensitized with alum plus cholera toxin or the saline-treated mice after OVA challenge, respectively. Sensitization and challenge with OVA significantly enhanced plasma leukotriene $B_4$ level but not IgE levels in comparison with the control mice, which indicated the role of leukotriene $B_4$ for progression of anaphyalxis. Furthermore, among mice suffered from anaphylaxis, levels of OVA-specific IgGl were significantly higher in the BALB/c mice than in the C57BL/6 mice, which implied the genetic susceptibility for the induction of systemic anaphylaxis. Conclusively, simultaneous evaluation of histamine, leukotriene $B_4$, and allergen-specific IgG isotype may serve as more efficient monitoring tool for vaccine-related anaphyalxis.

  • This study was performed to investigate antimicrobial resistance in bacterial isolates obtained from companion dogs in veterinary hospitals and an animal shelter in Incheon. Drug resistance was examined respectively with the isolates of Escherichia coli, Enterococcus faecalis, and Staphylococcus pseudintermedius. The prevalence of drug resistance was calculated for each bacterial species towards 163 E. coli isolates, 156 E. faecalis isolates, and 86 S. pseudintermedius isolates by using selected antimicrobials. E. coli isolates were highly resistant to ampicillin, ciprofloxacin and tetracycline (47.9%, 28.2% and 28.2%, respectively). E. faecalis isolates were highly resistant to quinupristin-dalfopristin, tetracycline, kanamycin, rifampicin (69.8%, 66.0%, 53.8% and 51.9%, respectively). Higher levels of resistance were detected for ampicillin, penicillin, tetracycline, erythromycin, trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole, telithromycin in S. pseudintermedius isolates (83.7%~52.6%, respectively). Occurrence of methicillin-resistant S. pseudintermedius (MRSP) was confirmed by oxacillin disc diffusion method, resulted in 23.3% occurrence among the S. pseudintermedius isolates (20/86 strains). The occurrence ratio of multidrug-resistance in the isolates of E. coli, E. faecalis, and S. pseudintermedius was 34.5%, 56.9%, and 67.9%, respectively. In this study, higher levels of antimicrobial drug resistance were observed in bacterial isolates obtained from dogs in Incheon. A regular monitoring and surveillance program should be implemented to prevent the emergence and spread of the drug-resistant bacteria carried in companion dogs.

  • A survey of weed occurrence was conducted to identify problematic weed species in a horticultural crop field to get basic information for effective weed control. Surveys of weed species occurring in horticultural crop fields (garlic, onion, red pepper and Chinese cabbage) were conducted in Chungnam province of Korea from April to October in 2014. A total of 516 sites of the 17 regions were identified as having 114 weed species belonging to 32 families. The most dominant weed species in the horticultural crop fields were Chenopodium album var. centrorubrum (8.83%), followed by Digitaria ciliaris (5.71%), Conyza canadensis (5.46%) and Capsella bursa-pastoris (4.67%). Specifically, as a result of this study, the occurrence of 35 species of exotic weeds, such as Chenopodium album and Taraxacum officinale, were confirmed. Almost 68% of the investigation sites was determined under dominance value 1 (range of cover < 10; numerous individuals) by Braun-Branquet cover-abundance scale, indicating a proper weed control in horticultural crop field. As a result of scientific and technological advances, an improved cultivation method is changing the weed occurrence in agricultural land. Additional research needs to be undertaken for the development of weed control methods through such periodic monitoring of occurrence of weeds.

  • Understanding the occurrence characteristics of pine wilt disease (PWD) is essential for determining a suitable strategy to minimize the damage caused by PWD. Thus, in this study, we characterized various environmental conditions, including meteorological factors, geographical factors, and artificial factors influencing the occurrence of PWD. The occurrence data of PWD from May 2016 to April 2018 and spatial data of various environmental factors, including natural and anthropogenic factors, were collected. We evaluated the relative contribution of the environmental variables on the number of dead pine trees by PWD. In this study, among the 17 natural and anthropogenic factors, the factors affecting the occurrence of dead trees by PWD were verified. The results showed that altitude and temperature from May to August, among natural factors, and distance to building and forest road among anthropogenic factors were the most influential factors on the occurrence of PWD.

  • Trend of earthquake occurrence of Korea represents that the term from 1978 to 1982 may be called as "active period", the term from 1983 to 1991 is rather tranquil, and from 1992, the occurrence number is increasing greatly. Instrumental earthquake observation of Korea started in 1905 by Japan. It continued until 1943 and ceased then through social disorders such as the independence from Japan Empire and the civil war. After that the observation restarted in 1963 by the establishment the World Wide Standard Seismograph Network. And the fundamental earthquake observation period started in 1978 with the Hongsung earthquake event. KMA(Korea Meteorological Administration) has constructed and operated the 24-hour earthquake and tsunami monitoring system and it propels new construction project of the national seismographic network system. In the result of this project, KMA operates 27 seismic networks, 42 accelerator networks, seismic analyzing system, and sea level monitoring system now. It has the plan to enlarge these systems that 31 seismic networks and 75 accelerator networks until 2001.

  • A suitable monitoring method is necessary for successful policy implementation and its evaluation, required for effective prevention of abnormal fire occurrences. To do this, there were studies for applying control charts of quality management to fire occurrence monitoring. As a result, it was proved that more fire occurs in winter and its trend moves yearly-basis with some patterns. Although it has trend, if we apply the same criteria for each time, inefficient overreacting fire prevention policy will be accomplished in winter, and deficient policy will be accomplished in summer. Thus, applying different control limits adaptively for each time would enable better forecasting and monitoring of fire occurrences. In this study, we treat fire occurrences as time series model and propose a method for configuring its coefficients with ARIMA model. Based on this, we expect to carry out advanced analysis of fire occurrences and reasonable implementation of prevention activities.

  • As one of the most important parameters in structural health monitoring, structural frequency has many advantages, such as convenient to be measured, high precision, and insensitive to noise. In addition, frequency-change-ratio based method had been validated to have the ability to identify the damage occurrence and location. However, building a precise enough finite elemental model (FEM) for the test structure is still a huge challenge for this frequency-change-ratio based damage detection technique. In order to overcome this disadvantage and extend the application for frequencies in structural health monitoring area, a novel method was developed in this paper by combining the cross-model cross-mode (CMCM) model updating algorithm with the frequency-change-ratio based method. At first, assuming the physical parameters, including the element mass and stiffness, of the test structure had been known with a certain value, then an initial to-be-updated model with these assumed parameters was constructed according to the typical mass and stiffness distribution characteristic of shear buildings. After that, this to-be-updated model was updated using CMCM algorithm by combining with the measured frequencies of the actual structure when no damage was introduced. Thus, this updated model was regarded as a representation of the FEM model of actual structure, because their modal information were almost the same. Finally, based on this updated model, the frequency-change-ratio based method can be further proceed to realize the damage detection and localization. In order to verify the effectiveness of the developed method, a four-level shear building was numerically simulated and two actual shear structures, including a three-level shear model and an eight-story frame, were experimentally test in laboratory, and all the test results demonstrate that the developed method can identify the structural damage occurrence and location effectively, even only very limited modal frequencies of the test structure were provided.
