This study is about occurrence pattern of vacant spaces as a urban decline indicator to consider a decline of old hillside residential area from spatial structure perspective. For investigation based upon vacant space and the street structure, this study selects Ami Chojang-dong in Seo-gu, Busan, of which 79.7% of total area is over a gradient of $10^{\circ}$. Focused on relationship between occurrence pattern of vacant spaces and 'vertical alleys(link)' serving as main movement path of local residents in hillside residential area, the length, numbers, slopes, and use characteristic of vertical alleys were analyzed using Arc GIS 9.3 program to classify characteristic zone types of spacial structure in hillside residential area. After the occurrence pattern of vacant space are interpreted in relation with building density, vertical alleys' number length slope, the social and economic issues have been considered as well. After analyzing the occurrence pattern of vacant space, this study argues that the occurrence pattern of vacant space in old hillside residential area is rather affected by street structure system consisting of vertical alleys than the impacts of social economical issues.

This paper presents an improved feature extraction method to achieve a good performance in the detection of splicing forged images. Strong edges caused by the image splicing destroy the statistical dependencies between parent and child subbands in the wavelet domain. We analyze the co-occurrence probability matrix of parent and child subbands in the wavelet domain, and calculate the statistical moments from two-dimensional characteristic function of the co-occurrence matrix. The extracted features are used as the input of SVM classifier. Experimental results show that the proposed method obtains a good performance with a small number of features compared to the existing methods.

High voltage induction motor is the important equipment for ensuring the driving performance of the electric train. PD(partial discharge) is a good indicator for showing the insulation performance of stator coil in HV induction motor. This paper has investigated the characteristics of PD occurrence aspects for both the sound and defective stator coil which consist of maximum PD amplitude(V), total occurrence number, average PD amplitude(V) and PD amplitude(v) - PD occurrence number(n). They were compared with each other depending on applied voltages and reconstructed to $60{\times}60$ matrices of PD amplitude(v)-occurrence phase (${\phi}$)-occurrence number(n) which is the good way to estimate the PD sources in stator coil.

It was studied the relationship between the red tide occurrence and the meteorological factors, and the satellite monitoring for red tide. From 1990 through 2001, the red tide continuously appeared and the number of red tide occurrence increased every year. A common condition for the red tide occurrence was heavy precipitation 2${\sim}$4 days earlier, and the favorable conditions for the red tide formation were high air temperature, proper sunshine and light winds for the day in red tide occurrence. From satellite images, it was possible to monitor the spatial distributions and concentrations of red tide.

Because of the flat slope of the magnetic characteristic curves at high saturation, the transformer inrush current peakes may assume an extreme magnitude. Even though such is rarely any danger to the transformer itself, the currents can cause serious problems in associated apparatus. This paper has analyzed various limiting factors of excess inrush currents, and then has suggested how to determine the frequency of encountering the inrush current peaks higher than an arbitrarily chosen value by deriving the probability equations of inrush current occurrence.

본 연구는 우리나라 지역별 특성요인이 천식환자 발생에 미치는 영향 요인을 알아보았다. 연구대상은 2010년도 건강보험환자 중 천식 (J45~J46)으로 확진된 2,266,451명을 대상으로 하였다. 기초자치단체별로 천식환자 발생 차이를 비교한 후 위계적 회귀분석을 통하여 각 인자들이 천식환자 발생에 미치는 영향력을 분석하였다. 위계적 회귀분석 결과, 전체 천식환자 발생은 영유아 비율, $SO_2$, 기온차, 분지인 지형, 댐 지역에서 유의한 차이가 있었으며, 영유아 천식환자 발생은 주관적 건강수준 인지율, $SO_2$, 분지인 지형, 댐 지역에서 유의한 차이가 있었고, 노인 천식환자 발생의 경우는 영유아 비율, $NO_2$, 기온차, 해안지역에서 유의한 차이가 있었다. 지역별 다양한 특성요인이 상호 복합적으로 작용하여 천식을 유발하거나 악화시켜 천식환자 발생에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 취약계층인 영유아 및 노인은 천식 유해환경으로 부터 보호되고 예방될 수 있는 지역별 맞춤형 환경보건대책이 마련되어야 할 것이다.

본 연구의 목적은 공동주택에서 발생하는 실내 외 생활소음원들의 종류를 파악하고, 발생 빈도가 높거나 소음레벨이 높은 특정 소음원을 선정하여 소음원별 발생 실태 및 특성을 분석하는 것이다. 공동주택 생활 소음원 실태 조사를 통해 24개의 생활 소음원을 도출하였으며, 그 중 소음의 발생 빈도 및 소음레벨이 높은 소음원 10개를 선정하여 실태조사 분석을 수행하였다. 연구 결과, 생활 소음원 10개 모두 시간대별 소음 발생 특징이 다르게 나타났다. 따라서 생활 소음 저감을 위해서는 소음원별 소음레벨이 크거나 발생빈도가 높은 시간대를 중심으로 강화된 법적 소음 기준 및 소음원별 발생 특성에 관한 거주자 대상의 교육 시행이 필요할 것이다.

Climate change due to global warming and changes in land use increase the development time and distribution, as well as the abundance, of mosquitoes, thereby negatively affecting human life and health. In this study, we investigated the habitat characteristics of mosquito occurrence sites in Danwon-gu, Ansan city, Korea, based on a daily record of civil pest complaints lodged at the Danwon-gu Community Health Center. We considered two types of factors (natural and artificial) known to affect mosquito occurrence. We confirmed a total of 554 cases of mosquito occurrence from March 2014 to August 2017. The total study area was $49.11km^2$, with urban areas constituting the largest proportion. Additionally, we investigated habitat preferences of mosquitoes in terms of terrain factors; generally, mosquitoes occurred at low elevations and on low slopes. Regarding the preference of oviposition sites, mosquitoes occurred at higher rates near streams and crops lands. The rate of mosquito occurrence tended to increase in areas with dense human populations. Regarding climatic factors, the rate of mosquito occurrence increased in areas with high temperature and low precipitation.

In this study, we studied failure cause of check valve through analysing characteristic of it used in turbo compressor. We researched how to improve to reduce chaterring occurrence which is cause of main failure mode and suggested how to improve reliability of check valve through it.

Texture analysis is an important role for automatic visual insfection. This paper presents an application of wavelet extension and Gray level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM) for detection of defect encountered in textured images. Texture characteristic in low quality images is not to easy task to perform caused by noise, low frequency and small dimension. In order to solve this problem, we have developed a procedure called wavelet image extension. Wavelet extension procedure is used to determine the frequency bands carrying the most information about the texture by decomposing images into multiple frequency bands and to form an image approximation with higher resolution. Thus, wavelet extension procedure offers the ability to robust feature extraction in images. Then the features are extracted from the co-occurrence matrices computed from the sub-bands which performed by partitioning the texture image into sub-window. In the detection part, Mahalanobis distance classifier is used to decide whether the test image is defective or non defective.
