A Study on the Practicality of Vision Control Scheme used for Robot's Point Placement task in Discontinuous Trajectory (불연속적인 궤적에서 로봇 점 배치작업에 사용된 비젼 제어기법의 실용성에 대한 연구)

  • This paper is concerned with the application of the vision control scheme for robot's point placement task in discontinuous trajectory caused by obstacle. The proposed vision control scheme consists of four models, which are the robot's kinematic model, vision system model, 6-parameters estimation model, and robot's joint angles estimation model. For this study, the discontinuous trajectory by obstacle is divided into two obstacle regions. Each obstacle region consists of 3 cases, according to the variation of number of cameras that can not acquire the vision data. Then, the effects of number of cameras on the proposed robot's vision control scheme are investigated in each obstacle region. Finally, the practicality of the proposed robot's vision control scheme is demonstrated experimentally by performing the robot's point placement task in discontinuous trajectory by obstacle.

The Obstacle Avoidance Algorithm of Mobile Robot using Line Histogram Intensity (Line Histogram Intensity를 이용한 이동로봇의 장애물 회피 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we present two types of vision algorithm that mobile robot has CCD camera. for obstacle avoidance. This is simple algorithm that compare with grey level from input images. Also, The mobile robot depend on image processing and move command from PC host. we has been studied self controlled mobile robot system with CCD camera. This system consists of digital signal processor, step motor, RF module and CCD camera. we used wireless RF module for movable command transmitting between robot and host PC. This robot go straight until recognize obstacle from input image that preprocessed by edge detection, converting, thresholding. And it could avoid the obstacle when recognize obstacle by line histogram intensity. Host PC measurement wave from various line histogram each 20 Pixel. This histogram Is ( x , y ) value of pixel. For example, first line histogram intensity wave from ( 0, 0 ) to ( 0, 197 ) and last wave from ( 280, 0 ) to ( 280, 197 ). So we find uniform wave region and nonuniform wave region. The period of uniform wave is obstacle region. we guess that algorithm is very useful about moving robot for obstacle avoidance.

The Effect of Obstacle Number, Shape and Blockage Degree in Flow Field of PEMFC on its Performance

  • Proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) has received extensive attention as it is the most common hydrogen energy utilization device. This research not only investigated the effect of obstacle number and shape on PEMFC performance, but also studied the effect of the blockage degree in the channel of PEMFC on its performance. It was found that compared with traditional scheme, longitudinally distributed obstacles scheme can significantly promote reactants transfer to catalyst layer, and the blockage degree in the channel effect PEMFC performance most. The scheme with 10 rectangular obstacles in single channel and 60% channel blockage had the best output performance and the most uniform distribution of reactants and products. Obstacle height distribution can significantly affect PEMFC performance, the blockage degree in the whole basin was large, particularly as the channel was blocked to higher degree in region 2 and region 3, higher net power density and better mass transfer effect can be obtained. Among them, the fuel cell with the blockage degree of 40%, 60% and 60% in region 1, region 2 and region 3 have the best PEMFC output performance and mass transfer, the net power density was 29.8% higher than that of traditional scheme.

  • This paper presents the radio propagation effects in the shadow region due to the presence of obstacle, like building and tree, along the path at the B-WLL band. Using the Uniform Theory of Diffraction(UTD), the total field was obtained as the sum of contributions with diffraction ray from the each obstacle's edge, the direct ray, and the reflected rays from ground. The normalized signal level(in ㏈) is calculated with the parameters of the base station elevation and the distance between obstacle and receiver. This results are used to provide the suitable radio cell planning and coverage prediction in the area of shadow region.

The Study of Plantar Foot Pressure Distribution during Obstacle Crossing with Different Height in Normal Young Adults (보행 시 장애물 높이에 따른 정상 성인의 족저압 분포 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of different obstacle heights on the plantar foot pressure during obstacle crossing. Sixteen healthy adults who had no musculoskeletal disorders were instructed to perform unobstructed level walking and to step over obstacles corto 10cm, 20cm, 30cm. Plantar foot forces and pressures were recorded by the Footmat system(Tekscan, Boston, USA) during level and obstacle walking with barefoot. Plantar foot surface was defined as seven regions for pressure measurement; two toe regions, three forefoot regions, one midfoot region, one heel region. One-way ANOVA was used to compare each region data of foot according to various heights. The results indicated that there are significant differences on peak pressure and maximal forces regarding each region at stance phase. As height of obstacle became high, the pathway of COP had a tendency to be short and abducted. Plantar pressure of foot could be changed by obstacle height and these findings demonstrated that obstacle with different height have an effect on structure and function of the foot.

  • When artificial potential field approach is used to avoid obstacle, the problem can be occurred in case that manipulator selects the path which across over an obstacle among paths. In thiscase manipulator can't reach the desired goal form obstacle. This problem is a case of structual local minimum. so this paper proposes the method to solve structual local minimum in this case. The method is that the manipulator goes via temporary goal. This paper proposes that visual region concept to select the temporary goal. The temporary goal is selected on the border of the visual region. To prove its effectiveness, two simulation examples are done by two link manipulator in two dimension and by three link manipulator in three dimension.

  • In autonomous robots, obstacle avoidance is a key feature. Potential Field is the most widely used method in this field. Such method requires real-time calculation of the nearest point of the obstacle from the robot, which involves difficulty of reliably segmenting the obstacle region from the distance sensor data profile. In this paper, Active Min-Depth Filter is introduced to obtain the nearest point of each obstacle using real-time calculation but without segmentation. Through simulations on various sensor noise environments, the robustness of the Active Min-Depth Filter could be confirmed, and successful results were obtained by applying real-world moving robots.

Image-Based Maritime Obstacle Detection Using Global Sparsity Potentials

  • In this paper, we present a novel algorithm for image-based maritime obstacle detection using global sparsity potentials (GSPs), in which "global" refers to the entire sea area. The horizon line is detected first to segment the sea area as the region of interest (ROI). Considering the geometric relationship between the camera and the sea surface, variable-size image windows are adopted to sample patches in the ROI. Then, each patch is represented by its texture feature, and its average distance to all the other patches is taken as the value of its GSP. Thereafter, patches with a smaller GSP are clustered as the sea surface, and patches with a higher GSP are taken as the obstacle candidates. Finally, the candidates far from the mean feature of the sea surface are selected and aggregated as the obstacles. Experimental results verify that the proposed approach is highly accurate as compared to other methods, such as the traditional feature space reclustering method and a state-of-the-art saliency detection method.

  • In this paper, we propose the method of lane and obstacle detection using edge and horizontal projection. we convert color image to gray image and detect edge. After lane detection using edge, we detect the obstacle using horizontal projection in the region of lane. The simulation shows that our method is able to detect lane and obstacle in the place of monotonous light.
