Intelligent System based on Command Fusion and Fuzzy Logic Approaches - Application to mobile robot navigation (명령융합과 퍼지기반의 지능형 시스템-이동로봇주행적용)

  • This paper propose a fuzzy inference model for obstacle avoidance for a mobile robot with an active camera, which is intelligently searching the goal location in unknown environments using command fusion, based on situational command using an vision sensor. Instead of using "physical sensor fusion" method which generates the trajectory of a robot based upon the environment model and sensory data. In this paper, "command fusion" method is used to govern the robot motions. The navigation strategy is based on the combination of fuzzy rules tuned for both goal-approach and obstacle-avoidance. We describe experimental results obtained with the proposed method that demonstrate successful navigation using real vision data.

  • In this paper, the prototype of a walking guide robot with tactile display is introduced, and the psychophysical experiment of the tactile recognition for a tactile display is carried out and analyzed. The objective of this research is the development of a walking guide robot for the blind to walk safely. A walking guide robot consists of a guide vehicle and a tactile display device. A guide vehicle, located in the front of the walking blind, detects the obstacle using ultrasonic sensors and offers the information of position and walking direction acquired from GPS module to the walking blind by voice. The tactile display device, located in the handle which is connected with the guide vehicle by cane, offers the processed obstacle information such as position, size, moving, shape of obstacle and safe path, etc. The psychophysical experiments for the threshold of perception and recognition ability of tactile stimulation are carried out by the estimation of the subject group. As a result the appropriate tactile stimulus intensity and frequency to recognize tactile stimulation effectively are discussed and derived.

Laser Scanner based Static Obstacle Detection Algorithm for Vehicle Localization on Lane Lost Section (차선 유실구간 측위를 위한 레이저 스캐너 기반 고정 장애물 탐지 알고리즘 개발)

  • This paper presents the development of laser scanner based static obstacle detection algorithm for vehicle localization on lane lost section. On urban autonomous driving, vehicle localization is based on lane information, GPS and digital map is required to ensure. However, in actual urban roads, the lane data may not come in due to traffic jams, intersections, weather conditions, faint lanes and so on. For lane lost section, lane based localization is limited or impossible. The proposed algorithm is designed to determine the lane existence by using reliability of front vision data and can be utilized on lane lost section. For the localization, the laser scanner is used to distinguish the static object through estimation and fusion process based on the speed information on radar data. Then, the laser scanner data are clustered to determine if the object is a static obstacle such as a fence, pole, curb and traffic light. The road boundary is extracted and localization is performed to determine the location of the ego vehicle by comparing with digital map by detection algorithm. It is shown that the localization using the proposed algorithm can contribute effectively to safe autonomous driving.

  • In this paper, we have designed and implemented an obstacle detecting device based laser radar. It is an alternative to solve through problem analysis of that are currently operated safety equipment and status research of domestic railway crossing. It is target to improve the safety and reliability of the rail traffic through effective obstacle detection at crossing account for a large proportion of train accidents. suggest a system to overcome the problems caused by aging and limitation of existing safety equipment. Design a crossing obstacle detection device that utilizes laser radar scanner, proved this through performance evaluation and testing of the prototype.

Tele-operated Control of an Autonomous Mobile Robot Using a Virtual Force-reflection

  • In this paper, the relationship between a slave robot and the uncertain remote environment is modeled as the impedance to generate the virtual force to feed back to the operator. For the control of a tele-operated mobile robot equipped with camera, the tele-operated mobile robot take pictures of remote environment and sends the visual information back to the operator over the Internet. Because of the limitation of communication bandwidth and narrow view-angles of camera, it is not possible to watch the environment clearly, especially shadow and curved areas. To overcome this problem, the virtual force is generated according to both the distance between the obstacle and robot and the approaching velocity of the obstacle. This virtual force is transferred back to the master over the Internet and the master(two degrees of freedom joystick), which can generate force, enables a human operator to estimate the position of obstacle in the remote environment. By holding this master, in spite of limited visual information, the operator can feel the spatial sense against the remote environment. This force reflection improves the performance of a tele-operated mobile robot significantly.

Improved View-Based Navigation for Obstacle Avoidance using Ego-Motion

  • In this study, we propose an improved view-based navigation method for obstacle avoidance and evaluate the effectiveness of the method in real environments with real obstacles. The proposed method possesses the ability to estimate the position and rotation of a mobile robot, even if the mobile robot strays from a recording path for the purpose of avoiding obstacles. In order to achieve this, ego-motion estimation was incorporated into the existing view-based navigation system. The ego-motion is calculated from SURF points between a current view and a recorded view using a Kinect sensor. In conventional view-based navigation systems, it is difficult to generate alternate paths to avoid obstacles. The proposed method is anticipated to allow a mobile robot greater flexibility in path planning to avoid humans and objects expected in real environments. Based on experiments performed in an indoor environment using a mobile robot, we evaluated the measurement accuracy of the proposed method, and confirmed its feasibility for robot navigation in museums and shopping mall.

Internet-based Teleoperation of a Mobile Robot with Force-reflection (인터넷 환경에서 힘반영을 이용한 이동로봇의 원격제어)

In general, for the teleoperation, the teleoperated mobile robot takes pictures of the remote environment and sends the visual information back to the operator over the Internet. It is demonstrated by experiments that this collision vector based haptic reflection improves the performance of teleoperated mobile robot significantly.

  • Currently the credit card settlement system which is used from off-line credit card joining point is composed of the credit card settlement terminal, the VAN company which do settlement relay service and the credit card company. When the credit card company occurs obstacle, the service VAN company executes as proxy an approval and it controls. When the service VAN company occurs obstacle, the credit card settlement service does not become accomplished in the normality. The dissertation which it sees when the service VAN company occurs obstacle, the possibility of doing a settlement relay service from the different VAN company in order to be, proposed the credit card settlement system which uses the Switching Agent.

  • The delivery using drones has been attracting attention because it can innovatively reduce the delivery time from the time of order to completion of delivery compared to the current delivery system, and there have been pilot projects conducted for safe drone delivery. However, the current drone delivery system has the disadvantage of limiting the operational efficiency offered by fully autonomous delivery drones in that drones mainly deliver goods to pre-set landing sites or delivery bases, and the final delivery is still made by humans. In this paper, to overcome these limitations, we propose obstacle detection and landing site selection algorithm based on a vision sensor that enables safe drone landing at the delivery location of the product orderer, and experimentally prove the possibility of station-to-door delivery. The proposed algorithm forms a 3D map of point cloud based on simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) technology and presents a grid segmentation technique, allowing drones to stably find a landing site even in places without prior information. We aims to verify the performance of the proposed algorithm through streaming data received from the drone.

  • This paper deals with the method of using the three dimensional characteristic information to classify the front environment in travelling by using the images captured by a CCD camera equipped on a mobile robot. The images detected by the three dimensional characteristic information is divided into the part of obstacles, the part of corners, and th part of doorways in a corridor. In designing the travelling path of a mobile robot, these three situations are used as an important information in the obstacle avoidance and optimal path computing. So, this paper proposes the method of deciding the travelling direction of a mobile robot with using input images based upon the suggested algorithm by preprocessing, and verified the validity of the image information which are detected as obstacles by the analysis through neural network.
