  • We present a new catalog of AGB stars based on infrared two-color diagrams (2CDs) and known properties of the pulsations and spectra. We exclude some misclassified objects from previous catalogs. We identify color areas in two IR 2CDs where most O-rich and C-rich objects listed in previous catalogs of AGB stars are found. By collecting new objects in these color selection areas in the two IR 2CDs, we find candidate objects for AGB stars. By using the color selection method, we identify 3996 new objects in the O-rich areas, 1487 new objects in the C-rich areas, and 295 new objects in the overlap areas of the two 2CDs simultaneously. We have found that 470 O-rich and 9 C-rich objects are Mira variables with positive spectral identification and they are newly identified AGB stars. We present a new catalog of 3828 O-rich AGB stars and 1168 C-rich AGB stars excluding misclassified objects and adding newly identified objects.

  • This paper describes real time object tracking of 3D objects in 2D image sequences. The moving objects are segmented from the image sequence using morphological operations. The moving objects are segmented by the method of differential image followed by the process of morphological dilation. The moving objects are recognized and tracked using statistical moments. The direction of moving objects are determined by the Hough transform. The straight lines in the moving objects are found with the help of Hough transform. The direction of the moving object is calculated from the orientation of the straight lines in the direction of the principal axes of the moving objects. The direction of the moving object and the displacement of the object in the image sequence is used to calculate the velocity of the moving objects. The simulation results of the proposed method are promising on the test images.

  • The era of the fourth industrial revolution, which will bring about a great wave of change in the 21st century, is the age of super-connection that links humans to humans, objects to objects, and humans to objects. In the smart city and the smart space which are evolving further, emotional engineering is a field of interdisciplinary researches that still attract attention with the development of technology. This paper proposes an emotional object prototype as a possibility of emotional interaction in the relation between human and object. By suggesting emotional objects that produce color changes and movements through the emotional interactions between humans and objects against the current social issue-loneliness of modern people, we have approached the influence of our lives in the relation with objects. It is expected that emotional objects that are approached from the fundamental view will be able to be in our lives as a viable cultural intermediary in our future living space.

  • Recently, location based services, which make use of location information of moving objects, have obtained increasingly high attention. The moving objects are time-evolving spatial objects, that is, their locations are dynamically changed as time varies. Generally, GIS server stores and manages the spatial objects, of which locations are rarely changed. The traditional GIS server, however, has a difficulty to manage the moving objects, due to the fact of locations being frequently changed and the trajectory information (past locations of moving objects) being managed. In this paper, we have designed a moving object server, which stores and manages the locations in order to support various location based services. The moving object server is composed of a location acquisition component, a location storage component, and a location query component. The contribution of this paper is that we integrate the each work for location acquisition, storage, and query into a moving objects server.

  • The present research is a study of the feared objects of children between 7 and 12 years of age. The data consisted of the replies to a questionnaire by 802 children and their mothers in Chun Chon City and Chunsung and Wonsung Counties plus. The questionnaire was divided into parts: 6 questions were designed to be answered by the children and 22 by their mothers. The children were asked about their feared objects, feared places, and feared colors, whereas their mothers about their own feared objects plus the backgrounds of their children's fear-objects. Frequency, percentage, and $X^2$-test were applied to the statistical analysis. The results were as follows: 1. Ghost (Kuishin), Devil (Toggaebi), and animals turned out to be the main feared objects of children. 2. Children's feared objects were same regardless of differentiating ages and regional backgrounds. Sex was the only factor which caused any differences. Girls were more sensitive to the animals as their feared objects. 3. Red and black proved to be the most frequently feared colors for all children. 4. Children's feared objects were influenced by the feared objects of their parents, grand parents and sisters and brothers. 5. Children's feared objects were related to the fairy tales and stories they have been told by their mothers.

  • Tracking of moving objects within video streams is a complex and time-consuming process. Large number of moving objects increases the time for computation of tracking the moving objects. Because of large computations, there are real-time processing problems in tracking of moving objects. Also, the change of environment causes errors in estimation of tracking information. In this paper, we present a new method for tracking of moving objects using optical flow motion analysis. Optical flow represents an important family of visual information processing techniques in computer vision. Segmenting an optical flow field into coherent motion groups and estimating each underlying motion are very challenging tasks when the optical flow field is projected from a scene of several moving objects independently. The problem is further complicated if the optical flow data are noisy and partially incorrect. Optical flow estimation based on regulation method is an iterative method, which is very sensitive to the noisy data. So we used the Combinatorial Hough Transform (CHT) and Voting Accumulation for finding the optimal constraint lines. To decrease the operation time, we used logical operations. Optical flow vectors of moving objects are extracted, and the moving information of objects is computed from the extracted optical flow vectors. The simulation results on the noisy test images show that the proposed method finds better flow vectors and more correctly estimates the moving information of objects in the real time video streams.

  • We present a novel method that can enhance the detection success rate of interstellar objects. Interstellar objects are objects that are not gravitationally bound to our solar system and thus are believed to have originated from other planetary systems. Since the finding of two interstellar objects, 1l/'Oumuamua in 2017 and 2l/Borisov in 2019, much attention has been paid to finding new interstellar objects. In this paper, we propose the use of Heliospheric Imagers (HIs) for the survey of interstellar objects. In particular, we show HI data taken from Solar TErrestrial RElation Observatory/Sun Earth Connection Coronal and Heliospheric Investigation and demonstrate their ability to detect 'Oumuamua-like interstellar objects. HIs are designed to monitor and study space weather by observing the solar wind traveling through interplanetary space. HIs provide the day-side observations and thus it can dramatically enlarge the observable sky range when combined with the traditional night-side observations. In this paper, we first review previous methods for detecting interstellar objects and demonstrate that HIs can be used for the survey of interstellar objects.

  • The partitioning of related objects should be performed before clustering for an efficient access in object-oriented databases. In this paper, a horizontal partition of related objects in object-oriented databases is presented. All subclass nodes in a class inheritance hierarchy of a schema graph are shrunk to a class node in the graph that is called condensed schema graph because the aggregation hierarchy has more influence on the partition than the class inheritance hierarchy. A set function and an accessibility function are defined to find a maximal subset of related objects among the set of objects in a class. A set function maps a subset of the domain class objects to a subset of the range class objects. An accessibility function maps a subset of the objects of a class into a subset of the objects of the same class through a composition of set functions. The algorithm derived in this paper is to find the related objects of a condensed schema graph using accessibility functions and set functions. The existence of a maximal subset of the related objects in a class is proved to show the validity of the partition algorithm using the accessibility function.

  • Ubiquitous service based on Spatio-temporal dataspaces requires not only the moving objects data but also the spatial objects. However, existing methods can not handle the moving objects and spatial objects together. To overcome the limitation of existing methods, we propose a new index structure called UIL (Union Indexing Lists) which contains two parts: MOL (Moving Object List) and SOL (Spatial Object List) to index the moving objects and spatial objects together. In addition, it can suppose the flexible queries on these data. We present the results of a series of tests which indicate that the structure perform well.

  • This paper deals with the problem of synthesis of stable and optimal grasps with unknown objects by 3-finger hand. Previous robot grasp research has analyzed mainly with either unknown objects 2D by vision sensor or unknown objects, cylindrical or hexahedral objects, 3D. Extending the previous work, in this paper we propose an algorithm to analyze grasp of unknown objects 3D by vision sensor. This is archived by two steps. The first step is to make a 3D geometrical model of unknown objects by stereo matching which is a kind of 3D computer vision technique. The second step is to find the optimal grasping points. In this step, we choose the 3-finger hand because it has the characteristic of multi-finger hand and is easy to modeling. To find the optimal grasping points, genetic algorithm is used and objective function minimizing admissible farce of finger tip applied to the object is formulated. The algorithm is verified by computer simulation by which an optimal grasping points of known objects with different angles are checked.
