  • The notion of object oriented analysis and design in software engineering has many rewards that aid the programmer to have an understanding of and improve the program efficaciously. Object oriented metrics helps rather a lot to a programmer or developer to comprehend and unravel the thing-oriented trouble readily and exactly. Object oriented metrics helps in examining the usefulness of object oriented applied sciences or in simple phrases Object-oriented metrics depict characteristics of object-oriented programming. The intention of this paper is to have an understanding of concerning the UML, Object oriented evaluation and design and the way it plays in UML.

  • This research deals with an object-oriented task description(OOTD) method to solve problems such as being hard to understand and a lack of description in existing task description methods. The OOTD method includes an object-oriented task structure diagram and an object-oriented task attribute diagram. The former shows some relationship between a task and a derived task. The latter includes important attributes to define each task. Finally, a sample case is introduced to show how efficient these two diagrams are for the task description.

  • In this paper, we suggest the object-oriented methodology for the design and implementation scheme for the program development in the application of control and instrumentation such as the detection system of RFID defective tags which needs the embedded programming. We apply the design methodology of UML in the system design phase, and suggest the implementation scheme of LabVIEW programs using LVOOP(LabVIEW Object Oriented Programming)in which make it possible to write the object-oriented programming. We design the class diagram and the sequence diagram using UML, and write the classes of LVOOP from the designed class diagram and the main VI from the sequence diagram, respectively. We show that it is possible to develop the embedded programs such as the RFID application through the implementation example of the detection system of RFID defective tags in this paper. And, we obtain the advantages based on the object-oriented design and implementation using the LVOOP approach such as the development of LabVIEW programs by adding the classes and the concept of object of the object-oriented language to LabVIEW.

  • State diagrams describe the dynamic behavior of an individual object as a number of states and transitions between these states. In this paper, we propose an automated technique to the generation of a state diagram from class operations with pre/post conditions. And I also develop a supporting tool, SDAG (State Diagram Automatic Generation tool). Additionally, we propose a complexity metric and a state diagram generation approach concerning types of each operation for decreasing complexity of generated state diagram.

  • A moving object detection algorithm for surveillance video is here proposed which employs background initialization based on two-stage median filtering and a background updating method based on state transition diagram. In the background initialization, the spatiotemporal similarity is measured in the subinterval. From the accumulated difference between the base frame and the other frames in a subinterval, the regions affected by moving objects are located. The median is applied over the subsequence in the subinterval in which regions share similarity. The outputs from each subinterval are filtered by a two-stage median filter. The background of every frame is updated by the suggested state transition diagram The object is detected by the difference between the current frame and the updated background. The proposed method showed good results even for busy, crowded sequences which included moving objects from the first frame.

  • UML is a very good description of object-oriented concepts and supports the use case diagram for analyzing the system functionality, the class diagram for representing the domain object in the analysis step, the sequence diagram for connecting the action in the class. The visual-based, object-oriented LabVIEW OOP is an intuitive design tool that can be executed at the same time as a development tool. However, even the system developer using LabVIEW OOP is needed known about the object-oriented concept in the design stage. In this paper, we suggest the method to applying the UML modeling diagram to LabVIEW OOP design.

  • Nowadays, XML has been favored by many companies internally and externally as a means of sharing and distributing data. there are many researches and systems for modeling and storing XML documents by an object-oriented method as for the method of saving and managing web-based multimedia document more easily. The representative tool for the object-oriented modeling of XML documents is UML (Unified Modeling Language). UML at the beginning was used as the integrated methodology for software development, but now it is used more frequently as the modeling language of various objects. Currently, UML supports various diagrams for object-oriented analysis and design like class diagram and is widely used as a tool of creating various database schema and object-oriented codes from them. This paper proposes an Efficinet Query Modelling of XML-GL using the UML class diagram and OCL for searching XML document which its application scope is widely extended due to the increased use of WWW and its flexible and open nature. In order to accomplish this, we propose the modeling rules and algorithm that map XML-GL. which has the modeling function for XML document and DTD and the graphical query function about that. In order to describe precisely about the constraint of model component, it is defined by OCL (Object Constraint Language). By using proposed technique creates a query for the XML document of holding various properties of object-oriented model by modeling the XML-GL query from XML document, XML DTD, and XML query while using the class diagram of UML. By converting, saving and managing XML document visually into the object-oriented graphic data model, user can prepare the base that can express the search and query on XML document intuitively and visually. As compared to existing XML-based query languages, it has various object-oriented characteristics and uses the UML notation that is widely used as object modeling tool. Hence, user can construct graphical and intuitive queries on XML-based web document without learning a new query language. By using the same modeling tool, UML class diagram on XML document content, query syntax and semantics, it allows consistently performing all the processes such as searching and saving XML document from/to object-oriented database.

  • Many researches and validations for the complexity metrics of the object-oriented systems have been studied. Most of them are aimed for the measurement of the partial aspects of the systems, for example, the coupling between objects, the complexity of inheritance structures, the cohesion of methods, and so on. But the software practitioners want to measure the complexity of overall system, not partial. We studied the complexity of the overall structures of object-oriented systems by analyzing the class diagram of UML. The class diagram is composed of classes and their relations. There are three kinds of relations, association, generalization, and aggregation, which are making the structure of object-oriented systems to be difficult to understand. We proposed a heuristic metric to measure the complexity of object-oriented systems by putting together the three kinds of the relations. This metric will be helpful to the software developers for their designing tasks by evaluating the complexity of the structures of object-oriented system and redesigning tasks of the system.

  • In conventional analysis methods, data and process are loosely coupled for building information systems. Several object oriented approaches have been proposed to integrate data and process. However, object oriented analysis requires a radical paradigm and thus system analysts find difficulties in generating object models direcctly from end users. To alleviate these difficulties, this paper proposes a methodology for deriving an object model by using structured analysis results. Objects are obtianed primarily from entities in Entity-Relationship Diagram. Methods are obtained through the analysis of the relationship between processes and data stores in Data Flow Diagram Methods are assigned to the objects by using object/process matrices. A real-life case is illustrated to demonstrate the usefulness of the methodology.

  • We propose the iconic animation of the software requirement specifications by using the object and dynamic models of the object modeling technique(OMT) methodology. In order to produce the iconic animation, we use "graphical classes" and "icon transformations." In general, the graphical classes are defined for each class of the object diagram. The icon transformations which show the activities of the application are constructed by considering the meaning of the activities and are defined by either basic or compound icons. The icon transformations are added to the state diagrams to generate extended state diagrams. The animation system generates the header files and the code instantiating GUI from the object diagram having graphical classes. The system also generates "event methods" from the extended state diagrams. When the event methods are executed, the behavior of the events is animated by the icon transformations.
