  • LQG/LTR method have a theoretical constraint that it cannot applied to nonminimum phase plant. In this paper, we suggest two methods of approximation of minimum phase plant for a given nonminimum phase plant to solve this constraint. Error is described by additive form which can reduce its magnitude in broad frequency range. A optimal approximation method was suggesetd by using Hankel operator theory and Nehari theory. It is showen by example that the methods suggested can resolve the frequency domain constraint arised in Stein and Athans approximation.

  • This work is concerned with the development of digital contouring controller formulti-axial servosystems. Digital optimal contouring controller is proposed to coordinate each of the controllers of multiple feed drives and specifically improve the controuring performance. The optimal control formulation includes the contour error explicity in the performance index to be minimized. The contouring control is exercised for straight line and circular contours. Substantial improvement in contouring perfomance is obtained for a range of contouring conditions. Both steady state and transient error measures have been considered. The simulation study presented has estiblished the potential of the proposed controller to improve contourning perfomance.

  • The A* algorithm is usually used in game programming, mainly because it is fast in finding a optimal path to goal. In this paper. This algorithm was utilized for path finding, HIMM(Histogramic In-Motion Mapping) method is used in map-building. Map is updated continuously with range data sampled by PSD sensors From the map, A* algorithm finds a optimal path and sends subsequently the most suitable point to the Eyebot. A* algorithm has been tested on the Eyebot in various unknown maps of unknown and proved to work well. It could escape the local minimum, also.

  • State variables of an observer were made use of to realize the optimal position control of a hydraulic servosystem with the inherent nonlinearities. The range of eigenvalues of an observer suitable for the hydraulic servosystem was investigated through computer simulation. The effect of direct state feedback of hydraulic servosystem was compared with that of estimated state feedback using observer to ascertain the possibility of performance increase using observer.

  • This paper presents an analysis of the man-machine control system. A man-machine system depends on the performance of a human operator for proper operation. The analysis method is based upon the assumption that human operator will act in a near optimal controller. Optimal control theory and its associated state space representation is used as the basis for the analytic procedure. The computer simulation for a given plant shows that plant parameters have limited range by the human operator.

  • In this paper, we propose a design method of PID controller using an improved Tabu Search. Tabu Search is improved by neighbor solution creation using Gaussian random distribution and generalized Hermite Biehler Theorem for stable bounds. The range of admissible proportional gains are determined first in closed form. Next the optimal PID gains are selected by improved Tabu Search. The results of Computer simulations represent that the proposed Tabu Search algorithm shows a fast convergence speed and a good control performance.

  • The optimal control theory is applied to the design of a digital control system for a nuclear reactor. A linear dynamic model obtained at 85% of rated power and a quadratic performance index are used. A minimal order observer used in cascade with the feedback controller is suggested as a state estimator. The total reactor power control is studied in the range of 80% to 100% of rated power, with the steady state and load-following control. The control algorithm considered is suitable for implementation in direct digital control.

  • A linear programming problem of the optimal proportioning of concrete aggregates is discussed; and a self-adaptive genetic algorithm is developed to solve this problem. The proposed method is based on changing a range of variables for capturing the feasible region of the optimum solution. A computational verification of this method is compared with the results of the linear programming.

  • In this paper, we carried out the numerical examination of the initial value setting-up method to extend the range of optimal step parameter in a adaptive system which is controlled by LMS algorithm. For initial value setting-up methods, the general method which select the initial value randomly and the other method which applies the approximate value obtained from the direct method to initial value, were used. And then, we compared to the ranges of step parameter setting, the convergence speeds of mean-square-error, and the stabilities during the convergence process when the initial values were applied to the optimal directivity synthesis problem. According to the numerical simulation results, the initial value setting-up method by means of the direct method provides wider range for the step parameter, more efficient capability for convergence and stability, and more error correction ability than the general method.
