대면적 OLED 증착용 새도우 마스크 설계 (A Design of the Shadow Mask for Large Size OLED Vapor Deposition)

  • Deformation of the shadow mask is one of the problems encountered during the deposition of organic materials for manufacturing large size organic light emitting diode (OLED). The larger the glass substrate, the larger the shadow mask becomes. As the size of the shadow mask increases, its deformation becomes more severe, thereby making it difficult to deposit organic materials in a precise pattern on a substrate. In this paper, a new method for reducing drooping of the shadow mask for large size OLED vapor depositions is proposed. The proposed shadow mask with cross stripe wires has higher stiffness than the pure shadow mask, which results in reducing drooping of the shadow mask. A commercial FEM program, ANSYS, is used for the evaluation of the proposed shadow mask. The analysis showed that the shadow mask with cross stripe wires have an effect on reducing drooping about 18.6% or more.

  • Shadow mask는 OLED의 R-G-B 컬러를 구현하기 위한 유기화합물을 증착하는데 사용하는 금속막으로 수없이 많은 홀이 뚫려있고 디스플레이의 화질, 선명도 및 색상을 좌우하는 핵심적인 소모성 부품이다. 하지만 증착공정시 발생되는 열에 의해 홀의 치수변화가 발생되기 때문에 이를 방지하기 위하여 본 연구에서는 열팽창에 치수변화가 없는 인바소재를 이용하여 Shadow mask를 제조하였다.

Manufacturing of Organic Light Emitting Display by Polymer Inkjet Printing

  • The characteristics of polymer inkjet printing were investigated systematically in this paper. PEDOT/PSS as a hole injection layer and MEH-PPV as a light emitting layer were used for inkjet printing experiment. Inkjet head controlling technology and surface modification technology were also applied for polymer inkjet printing. With the developed polymer inkjet printing technology, OLED(Organic Light Emitting Display) was successfully fabricated and demonstrated.

  • A profitable mass production of Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) displays needs a new type of manufacturing equipment. We have developed a vertical In-Line machine (VES400) equipped with linear etch sources (e.g. to activate an ITO layer), standard magnetron sputter sources for ITO and metal and linear evaporation sources for the organic and metal materials. We present new results concerning the linear evaporation sources for organic materials. We have optimized the vertical thickness non uniformity for the evaporation of different organic materials and achieved deviations of less than ${\pm}$ 5 % for the vertical thickness over a substrate height of 400 mm. We will further report first results about the long term stability of the deposition rate for different organic materials using rate control..

  • In this presentation we will describe two core elements, which combination gives a new approach to layout verification; they are a computational algorithm for modeling of photolithographical processes and a method for physical layout verification that uses output contours of that algorithm. Utilization of this approach allows to improve the quality of LCOS/AM OLED backplanes physical verification, because it considers discrepancies between mask features and printed contours on a wafer.

  • Thermal transfer of emitting layer from the donor film to the substrates depends on the physical interaction between the donor film, the emitting layer, and the hole-transport layer (HTL). The interfacial adhesion between the donor film and the EML, the cohesive force of the EML, and the interfacial adhesion between the EML and the HIL have to be optimized to achieve good LITI pattern quality. It was found that surface pretreatment of the donor plate was important on the laser induced thermal transfer of the emitting layer onto the HIL layer of the OLED devices.

  • The roll printing technique is the updated technology which will substitute a existing lithography technique for a field of the display such as LCD, PDP, OLED and FED etc. Currently, the patent trend analysis about research and development of the different enterprises are demanded, because it is forecast that the dominion of display market will be exchanged by research and development result of roll-printing technique.   • 최근 많은 정보를 신속하게 전달하기위한 방법으로 디스플레이의 역할은 아주 중요하며 다양한 색을 자연색에 가깝게 재현하기 위한 연구가 진행 중이다. 특히 정확하고 풍부한 색을 표현하기 위한 방법으로 발광 구조에 대한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 기술의 고도화, 디바이스의 소형화로 인해 작지만 높은 시인성과 에너지 소모에서 높은 효율을 가진 디스플레이의 필요성이 지속적으로 증가되고 있는 실정이다. OLED의 효율을 향상시키기 위해서는 운반자 주입의 향상, 전자와 정공이 수적인 균형을 이루며 효율적으로 재결합 할 수 있는 소자의 구조, 발광 효율이 큰 물질의 개발 등 OLED의 효율을 향상시키고자 하는 노력은 다방면에서 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 7층 적층구조 배면발광 청색 OLED 소자의 전기적 특성 및 광학적 특성을 분석하였다. 소자는 제작이 용이하며, 고효율 및 고휘도화가 가능한 Blue 발광물질인 4,4'-Bis(carbazol-9-yl)biphenyl : Ir(difppy)2(pic)를 사용하였다. OLED 소자 제작은 SUNICEL PLUS 200 시스템을 이용하여 5×10-8 Torr 이하의 고진공 상태에서 In-Situ 방식으로 증착하였다. Electron or Hole Injection Layer(EIL or HIL) Electron or Hole Transport Layer(ETL or HTL) 등이 추가된 5층 구조에 Electron or Hole Blocking Layer(EBL or HBL)을 추가한 7층 구조로 실험을 진행하였다. 제작한 소자의 전기적, 광학적 특성을 분석한 결과 EBL 층과 HBL층을 삽입하여 색의 확산을 방지한 소자는 색 순도가 우수하게 나타났다. 본 연구결과를 이용하여 청색 OLED 디스플레이 소자의 연구 개발 기초 및 실용화에 크게 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

PLD법에 의한 OLED 제작 공정 개발 (Development of OLED manufacturing process using PLD method)

  • Organic light entitling diode panel was fabricated using pulsed laser deposition (PLD) method Nd-YAG laser with Q-Switched and 355 nm pulse was used for the PLD. While TPD(N,N'-Di-[naphthaleny]-N, N'-diphenyl-benzidine) was used as a HTL(Hole transport layer), $Alq_3$(8-Hydroxyquinoline, Aluminum Salt) was used as EML/ETL(Emitting Layer/Electron Transport Layer) Organic pellet was fabricated and employed for the PLD method. The absorbances of the organic films were investigated and the measured absorbance values of TPD and $Alq_3$ films was 362 nm and 399 nm, respectively. The turn-on voltage of the OLED panel was 7.5 V and its luminance was $90\;cd/m^2$

Radio Frequency Plasma Power변화에 따른 ITO 특성 및 OLED의 광학적 특성 (Optical Properties of Organic Light Emitting Diode and Characteristics of ITO by Variation of Radio Frequency Plasma Power)

  • We has been analysed optical properties of OLED(organic light emitting diode) and characteristics of ITO(Indium Tin Oxide) in terms of $O_2$ plasma treatment for manufacturing high efficiency OLED, RF power of $O_2$ plasma was changed 25, 50, 100, 200 W. $O_2$ gas flow, gas pressure and treatment time were fixed. Sheet resistance and surface roughness of ITO were measured by Hall-effect measurement system and AFM, respectively. The ranges of sheet resistance and surface roughness were $5.5{\sim}6,06\;{\Omega}$ and $2.438{\sim}3.506\;nm$ changing of RF power, respectively, PM(Passive Matrix)OLED was fabricated with the structure of ITO(plasm treatment)/TPD($400\;{\AA}$)/$Alq_3(600\;{\AA})$/LiF($5\;{\AA}$)/Al($1200\;{\AA}$). Turn-on voltage of PMOLED was 7 V and luminance was $7,371\;cd/m^2$ at the RF power of 25 W, $O_2$ plasma treatment of ITO surface was result in lowering the operating voltage and improving luminance of PMOLED.
