  • Dopant and host molecules for charge transport layer in OLED have been developed. They enable implementation of the PIN OLED technology in mass production. We review the status of PIN OLED with main focus on top-emission structures and operation stability at elevated temperatures. A green phosphorescent top-emission device with 2.5 V operating voltage and 90 lm/W at 1000 $cd/m^2$ is presented. For a red top-emission device, lifetime exceeding 100,000 h at 500 $cd/m^2$ initial brightness is reported. Operational stability at $80^{\circ}C$ has been investigated. A lifetime of 17,000 h at 500 $cd/m^2$ has been achieved. Finally, we comment on further reduction of the operating voltage in OLED.

  • OLED display are extremely sensitive to water and oxygen. Developing a thin film encapsulation for this technology has for a long time been elusive. Vitex has developed a multilayer barrier consisting of alternating inorganic and organic layers which can meet the requirements for a successful protection for such displays. In this paper we will discuss the basic process, the model, the results on top and bottom emission OLED displays as well as the application of Barix layers on plastic to create flexible OLED displays. We will show that for displays all the requirement for the telecommunication industry can be met and that the we can scale up to a mass manufacturing process.

  • In order to raise productivity of the OLED and realization of the OLED TV, the enlargement of the mother glass substrate is required. The large-size glass substrate has some difficulties regarding its deflection during handling operation due to its thin thickness (0.5$\sim$0.7t) which is not even enough to stand its mass itself. This paper is demonstrating a new solution of this difficult through clamping and bending boundary condition, which helps to minimize the deflection of the glass substrate. Based on the developed method, the experiments had been done for verifying the proposed method to minimize the glass-deflection. With the developed method, the new design of glass substrate handler can be proposed to allow the large OLED displays be manufactured.

  • First demonstrators of bi-directional OLED microdisplay devices have been developed and integrated into see-through HMD optics. The device combines 'display' and 'imaging' by nested OLED pixels and photodetectors in a single CMOS chip. Major aim of this integration is to provide capabilities for eyetracking to achieve gaze-based human-displayinteraction.

  • Cyclic measurement system using relay circuit for organic light emitting diode (OLED) was demonstrated. The OLED characterization such as current-voltage, impedance, and capacitance-voltage is performed in sequence, repetitively and automatically under full control of the personnel computer (PC) without changing the connection of cables. Owing to in situ degradation by cyclic measurement, the time dependence of the data can give good information on the reliability factor of the OLED devices. Therefore, both performance and reliability of the OLEDs can be evaluated, with no manual operation during the entire process.

  • Numbers of studies related to optimization of design of organic light emitting diodes(OLED) through machine learning are increasing. We propose the generative method of the image to assess the performance of the device combining with machine learning technique. Principle parameter regarding dark spot growth mechanism of the OLED can be the key factor to determine the long-time performance. Captured images from actual device and randomly generated images at specific time and initial pinhole state are fed into the deep neural network system. The simulation reinforced by the machine learning technique can predict the device parameters accurately and faster. Similarly, the inverse design using multiple layer perceptron(MLP) system can infer the initial degradation factors at manufacturing with given device parameter to feedback the design of manufacturing process.

  • The electrostatic chuck is a technology that uses electroadhesion to attach objects and is widely used in semiconductor and display processes. This research conducted Maxwell by varying parameters to examine the distribution and variations of chucking force in a bipolar-type ESC. The parameters that were changed include the material properties of the dielectric layer and attachment substrate, applied voltage to the electrode, and the gap and width between the electrodes. The analysis results showed that as the relative permittivity of the dielectric layer and substrate increased, the chucking force also increased, with the relative permittivity of the substrate having a greater impact on the chucking force. And increasing the applied voltage led to an increase in both the chucking force and its rate of change. Lastly, as the gap between the electrodes increased, the chucking force rapidly decreased until a certain distance, after which the decrease became less significant. On the contrary, increasing the electrode width resulted in a rapid increase in the chucking force until a certain width, beyond which the increase became less pronounced, eventually converging to a chucking force of 1700 Pa. This paper is expected to have high potential for the development and research of ESC for OLED deposition.

  • Power efficiency, lifetime and stable manufacturing processes are the crucial parameters for the success of organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) in display and lighting applications. Highest power efficiencies of PIN-OLEDs for all principal colours and for bottom and top emission OLED structures have been demonstrated. The PIN structure, which means the incorporation of intentionally doped charge carrier transport layer in a suitable OLED layer setup, lowers the operating voltage to achieve highest power efficiencies. Up to now the n-doping of the electron transport layer has been done by alkali metal co-deposition. This has main draw-backs in terms of manufacturability, since the handling of large amounts of pure Cs is a basic issue in production lines. Here we present in detail results on PIN-OLEDs comprising a newly developed molecular n-dopant. All the previous OLED performance data based on PIN-OLEDs with alkali metal doping could be reproduced and will be further improved in the future. Hence, for the first time, a full manufacturing compatible PIN-OLED is available.

  • Highly efficient and stable white PIN OLED structures have been developed with a focus on possible AM display applications. Due to the use of the novel air-stable Novaled n-dopant material NDN26, the mass production compatibility of the PIN approach is improved. With both a conventional n-dopant, NDN1, and a novel air-stable n-dopant, NDN26, similar performance in efficiency and lifetime are reached. Based on highly a stable red fluorescent emitter system, the Novaled PIN approach allows for reaching ultra-long lifetimes of 1,000,000 hours at a brightness of $1,000\;cd/m^2$, both for top and for bottom emission layouts. Furthermore, inverted PIN structures for a possible use in a-Si backplane applications for AM displays are shown. With a phosphorescent green emitter system it could be demonstrated that for bottom and inverted as well as non-inverted top emission, a brightness of $1,000\;cd/m^2$ can be reached at below 3 V. In addition to low operating voltages and long lifetimes, PIN OLEDs also enable for device structures with extremely low operating voltage drifts, a feature of increasing importance for future AM display developments.
