Properties of the Powders of the System Al2O3-ZrO2-Y2O3 Prepared by Precipitation Method (침전법으로 제조한 Al2O3-ZrO2-Y2O3계 분말의 특성)

  • The properties of the powders of the system Al2O3-ZrO2-Y2O3 prepared by precipitation method were investigated. Al2(SO4)3$.$18H2O3, ZrOCl2$.$8H2O and YCl3$.$6H2O were used as starting materials. Amorphous aluminum hydrate prepared by precipitation method was completely transformed to alpha Al2O3 as a result of calcining at 1100$^{\circ}C$ for 1 hr and gamma, delta and theta phases appeared as transition phases. In ZrO2-Y2O3 system prepared by co-precipitation method, the crystallization temperature of ZrO2 was increase with Y2O3 contents. The coupled crystallization occured in coprecipitated Al2O3-ZrO2-Y2O3 system, therefore the formation temperature of alpha Al2O3 and ZrO2-Y2O3 system. In this ternary system, the powder morphology showed a particular shape which was composed of large Al2O3 grains having small spherical ZrO2 particles within large Al2O3 grain and relatively large ZrO2 particles along the grian boundaries.

Effects of $Fe_2O_3$ Addition on the Properties of MgO and Dolomite (마그네시아와 돌로마이트의 특성에 미치는 $Fe_2O_3$ 의 첨가영향)

  • MgO clinker and two kinds of dolomite clinkers with different microstructures and CaO contents were used as starting materials, and the effects of Fe2O3 addition on the properties of MgO and dolomite were investigated in the range of 2 to 8 wt% of Fe2O3 content. Secondary phases contributed to densification of MgO-Fe2O3 and dolomite-Fe2O3 were magnesioferrite and dicalciumferrite, respectively. Sinterabilities of MgO-Fe2O3 and dolomite-Fe2O3 were directly proportional to the amount of secondary phases. Also, sinterability of dolomite itself was dependent on the microstructure of starting material including distribution of CaO and MgO as well as the addition amount of Fe2O3. The flexural strength of MgO-Fe2O3 content was almost constant. The hydration resistance of dolomite with large size of MgO and discontinuous distribution of CaO was higher than that of dolomite with small size of MgO and continuous distribution of CaO. Also, the minimum content of Fe2O3 to prevent they hydration of dolomite was about 4wt%. As increasing Fe2O3 content, the penetration resistance of MgO-Fe2O3 was improved by the increment of magnesioferrite. On the other hand, the penetration resistance of dolomite-Fe2O3 was decreased because of the increment of dicalciumferrite having low melting point.

The Dielectric Properties of $BaTiO_3/SrTiO_3$ Heterolayered Thick Films with Stacking Periodicity (적층주기에 따른 $BaTiO_3/SrTiO_3$ 이종층 후막의 유전 특성)

  • $BaTiO_3/SrTiO_3$ heterolayered thick films on the $Al_2O_3$ substrate by screen printing method with stacking periodicity. The stacking periodicity of $BaTiO_3/SrTiO_3$ heterolayer structure was varied from $(BaTi_O_3)_1/(SrTiO_3)_1$ to $(BaTi_O_3)_3/(SrTiO_3)_3$. The total thickness of the $BaTiO_3/SrTiO_3$ films was about $120{\mu}m$. There was an interdiffusion at the interface of the $BaTiO_3$ and $SrTiO_3$ layers. The dielectric constant of $BaTiO_3/SrTiO_3$ heterolayered thick films was increased with decreasing stacking periodicity of the $BaTiO_3/SrTiO_3$. The dielectric constant of the ($(BaTi_O_3)_1/(SrTiO_3)_1$ herterolayered thick films was about 1780.

  • In this study, (Sr.Pb.Ca)TiO3-Bi2O3.3TiO2(SPCT) systems were investigated to develop a new material which has a high dielectric constant, a low dielectric loss and a small TCC(Temperature Coefficient of Capa-citance), and are suitable for high voltage applications as a function of the additions of Bi2O3.3TiO2 from 5 mol.% to 9 mol.%. The result obtained from our investigation showed that up to 6 mol.% Bi2O3.3TiO ad-dition the dielectric constant increased and it deteriorated at higher concentrations with increasing amount of the acicular grains. As a result of some dopants (SiO2, Nb2O3, MnO2) addition to SPCT, the specimens with MnO2 showed good dielectric properties. The dielectric constant decreased, but the TCC was improved with the addition of MnO2 from 0.15 wt.% to 0.45 wt. %.

  • ZnO co-doped Er:$LiNbO_3$ single crystal thin films have been grown on $LiNbO_3$ (001) substrate by liquid phase epitaxy (LPE) method. The melts of ZnO co-doped Er:$LiNbO_3$ was fixed $Er_2O_3$, concentration (1 mol%) and different ZnO concentrations 3 and 5 mol%. The crystallinity of ZnO co-doped Er :$LiNbO_3$ films became better than the $LiNbO_3$ substrate. At ZnO 5 mol% concentration, the surface of ZnO co-doped Er:$LiNbO_3$ film is affected by compressive stress along both the perpendicular and the parallel direction. Also the surface of ZnO 3 mol% co-doped Er:$LiNbO_3$film is smoother than the original $LiNbO_3$ substrate surface.

  • ZnO varistor based on ZnO-Bi2O3-Co3O4-MnCO3-Cr2-O3-Sb2O3 system with Sb2O3 contents were studied for grain size variation and microstructure properties. The composition of pure ZnO varistor was observed composition was inhibited owing to formation of Zn7Sb2O12 spinel phase and did not observed abnrmal grain growth. With Sb2O3 contents, the grain sizes of ZnO varistor were remarkably decreased and the microstructure had the distribution of dense and homogeneous grains.

  • "Electrical Properties of Barium Titanates with Addition Sb2O3." PTC BaTiO3 in low resistance at room temperature was prepatred. Al2O3, SiO2 and TiO2 were doped with a view to improving reproduction. Sb2O3 was doped as impurity in order to control of resistivity of the specimens. The relations between the amount of Sb3O3 and electrical properties wereinvestigated. Of the compositions studied, additions of 3.75mole% Al2O3, 1.25mole% SiO2, 2.25mole% TiO2 and 0.16~0.25wt% Sb2O3 to BaTiC3 was low resistivity in 14-300 ohm-cm.00 ohm-cm.

  • Glass films in the binary system B2O3-SiO2 and Al2O3-SiO2 were prepared on soda-lime-silica slide glass by the dip-coating technique from TEOS and boric acid or aluminum nitrate. Thickness of the films varying with viscosity and withdrawal speed were measured and effect of composition and firing temperature on the properties such as transmittance and refractive index were investigated. nM2O3.(100-n)SiO2(M=B or Al) films containing up to 20mol% B2O3 and 40mol% Al2O3 were transparent. Maximum transmittance at visible range were obtained for the sample containing 15mol% Ba2O3 and 32.5mol% Al2O3 and heat-treated at 50$0^{\circ}C$, respectively. Refractive index of the film containing 15mol% B2O3 was mininum in the B2O3-SiO2 binary system and minimal refractive index was appeared at the film containing 32.5mol% Al2O3. In IP spectra, addition of B2O3 were increased absorption peak intensity of B-O and Si-O-B bond and addition of Al2O3 were decreased absorption peak intensity of Si-O bond, respectively.

  • The microwave dielectric materials of the BaO-Nd$_2$O$_3$-TiO$_2$and BaO-(Sm, Nd)$_2$O$_3$-TiO$_2$system were synthesized by conventional ceramic processing and sintered 1220 to 140$0^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours respectively. Their crystallization and dielectric properties were examined. In the BaO-Nd$_2$O$_3$-TiO$_2$ and BaO-(Sm, Nd)$_2$O$_3$-TiO$_2$system. Nd$_2$Ti$_2$O$_{7}$ and (Sm, Nd)$_2$Ti$_2$O$_{7}$ were observed as a second phase respectively. The maximum relative dielectric constant were 79,99 for the BaO-Nd$_2$O$_3$-TiO$_2$system and 105.07 for the BaO-(Sm,Nd)$_2$O$_3$-TiO$_2$system and their Q-value were over 2000 at 3GHz.GHz.

Color and COD Removal of Rhodamine B Using Ozone, Photocatalyst and Ozone-Complex Process (오존, 광촉매 및 오존-복합 공정을 이용한 Rhodamine B의 색도와 COD 제거)

  • The effect of advanced oxidation processes such as $O_3$, $UV/TiO_2$, $O_3/UV$ and $O_3/UV/TiO_2$ on decolorization and COD removal of Rhodamine B(RhB) wastewater were considered. The results showed that the higher the $O_3$ concentration was, the higher the decolorization observed and the optimum $TiO_2$ dosage was 0.4 g/L in $UV/TiO_2$ and $O_3/UV/TiO_2$ process. $O_3/UV$ process showed the higher initial decolorization rate constant and the shorter termination time for decolorization than those of the $O_3$ process. The decolorization rate constants in various systems followed the order of $O_3/UV/TiO_2>O_3/UV>O_3{\gg}UV/TiO_2$. The decolorization rate of the RhB solution in every processes was more rapid than the mineralization rate identified by COD removal. The latter took longer time for further oxidation. The COD removal rate constants in four systems followed the order of $O_3/UV/TiO_2>O_3/UV>UV/TiO_2{\geqq}O_3$. Among four processes, combined photocatalysis and ozonation$(O_3/UV/TiO_2)$ was the most prospective process for removing color and COD such as dye wastewater.
