  • Since students of the College of Maritime Sciences will become professionals contributing to the development of the Korean shipping industry after graduation, they are required to successfully complete school life including theoretical and practical curriculum with health promotion behavior. The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors influencing health promotion behavior by students of the College of Maritime Science in order to collect basic data through a survey for the development of health promotion programs. Health promotion behavior by students of the College of Maritime Sciences was less frequent than by other college students, and the levels of health promotion behavior sub-domains were lower in order of interpersonal relations, spiritual growth, stress management, nutrition, physical activity, and health responsibility. The most influential factors for health promotion behavior were learner participation, health promotion self-efficacy, self-esteem, and social support. It is necessary to develop a differentiated health promotion program considering the characteristics of students and to apply it systematically from the time of admission to improve health promotion behavior by students of the College of Maritime Sciences.

  • In 2016, the number of suicides per 100,000 population in Korea was 24.6, which is the highest record of OECD countries. The number of suicide deaths increased with age. Elderly people have a higher risk of completed suicide than any other age group. The purpose of this study was to analyze the panel data of the Korean Welfare Panel Study to identify the factors affecting the suicide of Korean older people. This study analyzed the data of the 11th Korean Welfare Panel Study, which was constructed in 2016. The mean age of the participants was 75.55 years and 37% were man and 63% were women. The annual prevalence of suicidal ideation was 3.4%. The effects of depression(Exp(B)=1.113) and subjective health status((Exp(B)=.767) on suicidal ideation was statistically significant by stepwise logistic regression analysis(Nagelkerke $R^2=.248$). Therefore, for the effective application of suicide prevention program for the older people, assessment of subjective health status and depression screening should be preceded.

  • This study was conducted to understand the relationship between elementary students' beliefs supporting aggression, aggression and self-esteem. In addition, we aimed to provide basic data for controlling the aggression of children and developing effective coping strategies. This study population consisted of 184 elementary school students. Data were analyzed using SPSS 24.0 program. As a result, the aggression of elementary school students showed a significant positive correlation with beliefs supporting aggression(r=.39, p<.001) and a significant negative correlation with self-esteem(r=-.46, p<.001). In addition, Results of the hierarchical regression analysis revealed that self-esteem has the mediating effect on the relationship between beliefs supporting aggression and aggression(${\beta}=.26$, p<.001). In other words, the higher the beliefs supporting aggression, the higher the aggression, and self-esteem means to act as a mediating effect in the relationship between them. Therefore, when arranging an intervention plan to control the aggression of elementary school students, it is necessary to find strategies to control the beliefs spporting aggression and increase self-esteem.
