Materials and Methods: This study used a pretest-posttest design with a single cohort of nurses and included a Difficulties in Palliative Care for Patients with MPM (DPCMPM) Scale with 15 items. The pre- and posttest scores were compared using a t-test. Results: We included 27 female nurses with a mean of 14.4 years of nursing experience. In 12 of 15 DPCMPM items, the posttest difficulty scores were lower than the pretest scores. Participants highly evaluated the program for validity, clarity, clinical usefulness, and the facilitators. The Palliative Care for MPM Handbook for Nurses was developed as an educational tool for clinical settings. • Purpose: Knowing the accurate gestational age(GA) is critical in nursing care of premature infants. A descriptive study was performed to examine the reliability and clinical applicability of the New Ballard examination(NBE) in premature infants. Method: A NBE was performed to measure GA by assessing the neuromuscular and physical maturity in the course of physical examination of a convenient sample of 74 premature infants. Result: 1. The highest item of NBE score was posture (mean=2.82) and the lowest item was breast (mean=1.84). 2. There was a highly correlation between both the GA by LMP(GA-LMP) and GA by NBE (GA-NBE)(r=.844, p=.000). 3. There was a greater positive relationship in neuromuscular maturity than physical maturity in the GA-NBE of the premature infants(r=.786 vs r=.933). 4. There was a positive correlation between neuromuscular, physical, total maturity, GA-LMP and GA-NBE in the birth weight, length, 1, 5 minute apgar score. 5. There was no significant difference neuromuscular, physical, total maturity in NBE by delivery history. Conclusion: The study supports the reliability a clinical relevance of NBE in assessment of the accurate GA in premature infants.

An historical research approach was used and all of the data were analyzed according to period, region, and pattern of the independence movement. Results: Throughout the historical literature and oral historical materials, it was found that from 1914 to 1945, thirty-eight women nurses actively participated in various types of independence activities such as mass hurrah demonstrations, raise the spirit of war, red cross activities, enlightenment movement and armed struggle to encourage the public to stand up against Japanese imperialism locally and abroad. Disease-related factors for inpatients falls were diagnostic department, admission from ER or OPD, admission by wheelchair or orther method and activity status. Environment-related factors for inpatient falls were re-education and side-rails. Assessment of the risk factor group related factors were age, history of falls, body balance, depression, communication, medication, chronic disease, urinary condition and total score for risk factors. Conclusion: Experienceing a fall among Korean inpatients was associated not only with individual factors, but also with disease and environmental factors. The findings of this study suggest that broad intervention programs should be provided to prevent inpatient falls.

  • Purpose: This study investigated the factors influencing the risk of relapse in community-dwelling adults with alcohol use disorder. Methods: This study included 122 community-dwelling individuals with alcohol use disorder who were receiving outpatient treatment at a mental health treatment hospital or were enrolled in a treatment program at the Community Addition Management Center in Gyeonggi Province. Data were collected using self-administered questionnaires from July to August 2020. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis using SPSS 25.0. Results: Abstinence self-efficacy (𝛽=-.56, p<.001), social support (𝛽=-.35, p=.009), female sex (𝛽=11.29, p=.015), and a family history of alcoholism (𝛽=9.41, p=.026) were significant predictors of relapse risk, accounting for 56% of the variance (F=12.68, p<.001). Conclusion: The findings of this study suggest that abstinence self-efficacy and social support are pivotal in reducing risk of relapse in individuals with alcohol use disorder. Therefore, relevant and effective interventions focusing on enhancing abstinence self-efficacy and social support are required.

  • This cross-sectional design study was undertaken to determine the factors associated with suicidal ideation in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected older adults. Data from a city-wide representative sample collected by the Seoul Metropolitan Government were used. The cross-sectional survey was conducted between February and March 2013. Participants selected and included in the analysis were HIV-infected adults living in Seoul, and aged 50 years and older. The overall adjusted model showed that being unemployed (adjusted odds ratio [aOR], 3.34; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.16-9.57), a history of depression treatment (aOR, 4.61; 95% CI, 1.02-20.66), perceived belongingness (aOR, 0.63; 95% CI, 0.41-0.99), and psychological functioning (aOR, 0.85; 95% CI, 0.73-0.99) were significantly related to suicidal ideation. Psychosocial features were found to be strongly associated with suicidal ideation among HIV-infected older adults. The findings could be useful for HIV nursing consultants to identify HIV-infected older adults who are vulnerable to suicidal ideation. Comprehensive mental health services should be provided as coping resources for HIV-infected older adults who have suicidal ideation.

Results: Of the total subjects, 149 (26.6%) had a family history of hypertension 253 (45.1%) knew their blood pressure, 365 (65.9%) did not measure blood pressure, and 388 (69.1%) were not interested in knowing their blood pressure. Subjects' knowledge related to hypertension averaged 11.54 points out of 22, hypertension-related health behavior averaged 2.31 points out of 4. With a higher score indicative of increased attention paid to healthy behavior. Conclusion: Knowledge of blood pressure and characteristics of hypertension and management of both blood pressure and hypertension can be inadequate in first-year college students. Increased knowledge of hypertension may lead to better health behavior.
