Purpose: The aim of this study was to analysize net income of a surgical nursing ward in a general hospital. Method: Data collection and analysis was conducted using a performance-based costing and activity-based costing method. Result: Direct nursing activities in the surgical ward were 68, indirect nursing activities were 10. The total cost volume of the surgical ward was calculated at \119,913,334.5. The cost volume of the allocated medical department was \91,588,200.3, and the ward consumed cost was \28,325,134.2. The revenue of the surgical nursing ward was \33,269,925.0. The expense of a surgical nursing ward was \28,325,134.2. Therefore, the net income of a surgical nursing ward was \4,944,790.8. Conclusion: We suggest that to develop a more refined nursing cost calculation model, a standard nursing cost calculation system needs to be developed.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate NICU nurses' nursing interventions for pain and factors affecting nursing interventions for pain. Methods: Participants were 120 NICU nurses from 5 university hospitals located in Daejeon Metropolitan City and Chungcheong Province. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA and Duncan test, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression analysis with SPSS Windows 23.0 IBM program. Results: The factors affecting nursing interventions for pain included knowledge about non-pharmacological nursing interventions for pain and self-efficacy about nursing interventions for pain. These variables explained 28.3% of nursing interventions for pain. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that it is necessary to develop education programs in which effective nursing interventions for neonatal pain are considered. The programs should be made available to NICU nurses.
Purpose: This study aimed to compare the quality of nursing care as perceived by registered nurses and mothers of hospitalized children in South Korea. Methods: This was a descriptive study that recruited 70 mothers of hospitalized children and 70 nurses in pediatric units in university hospitals as participants. The quality of pediatric nursing care was measured using importance and performance scores for 19 items describing various elements of nursing care. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the independent t-test. Results: The hospitalized children mothers'mean importance scores were significantly higher than those of the nurses (t=2.94, p=.004). However, there were no significant differences in the mean performance scores of nurses and mothers (t=0.91, p=.363) or between nurses'and mothers'perceptions of quality of nursing care, with the exception of a significant difference for the quality of explanations (t=2.78, p=.006). The quality of explanations was assessed more positively by nurses than by mothers. Conclusion: This study suggests that when developing strategies to improve the quality of nursing care in pediatric wards, ensuring that pediatric nurses provide detailed explanations should be considered as a way to improve the quality of nursing care in pediatric units.

The data was collected from September 3 to 30, 1997. Sub-scale of Nursing Ethical Values(Lee, 1990) were used to measure human life area, nurse-patient relationship area, nurse-nursing task relationship area, nurse-colleague relationship area. Data were analyzed by SPSS for Windows program. The results of this study were summarized as follows: 1. The students took the position of utilitarian slightly in human life area. 2. The students took deontological position slightly in nurse-patient relationships area. 3. The students took deontological position slightly in nurse-nursing task relationships area. 4. The students took deontological position greatly in nurse-colleague relationships area. 5. There were significant relationship between nurse-colleague relationship area and both human life area and nurse-patient relationship area(p< .01). 6. The ethical values of human life area related to religion(p< .01) and attitude of nursing(p< .05). The ethical values of nurse-colleague relationships area related to attitude of nursing(p< .01).
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between sense of coherence and quality of life in the freshman nursing students. Method: The subjects of this study were 377 freshmen of nursing colleges. Data were collected through structured questionnaires of sense of coherence and quality of life. Data analysis was done using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and canonical correlation analysis. Result: There was static correlation between sense of coherence and quality of life in the freshman nursing students. And high correlation with quality of life were meaningfulness in sense of coherence and psychological domain in quality of life. Conclusion: These results were shown very important to improve meaningfulness in sense of coherence and psychological domain in quality of life to raise the quality of life in the freshman nursing students. Therefore, in order to improve the quality of life, it is necessary to develop a nursing intervention program that focus on stress, and psychological health.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the differences between gender identity, gender equality, and self-esteem among nursing college students. Methods: The subjects were nursing college students who were selected from 4 different nursing colleges. We measured gender identity, gender equality, and self-esteem using verified measurement tools. Data were analyzed using descriptive and comparative statistical methods. Results: Gender equality among nursing college students showed a significant difference between male students and female students. Male students had higher gender equality scores than female students on all 4 types of gender equality. Conclusion: Male nursing college students that there are differences in gender equality, especially in the areas of education and employment. Based on these results, we suggest that future work should focus on developing a curriculum to increase awareness of gender equality among under graduate students, and thereby build an organizational culture of mutual respect for gender equality among clinical nurses.
Purpose: This study aimed to describe the process of developing a validated pediatric nursing simulation scenario template using the real-time Delphi method. Methods: A panel of 13 pediatric nursing experts participated in a real-time Delphi survey conducted over two rounds. Initially, 83 items were included in the questionnaire focusing on the structure and content of the simulation scenario template. Data analysis involved calculating the content validity ratio (CVR) and the coefficient of variation to assess item validity and stability. Results: Through iterative rounds of the Delphi survey, a consensus was reached among the experts, resulting in the development of a pediatric nursing simulation scenario template comprising 41 items across nine parts. The CVR values ranged from 0.85 to 1.0, indicating a high consensus among experts regarding the inclusion of all items in the template. Conclusion: This study presents a novel approach for developing a pediatric nursing simulation scenario template using real-time Delphi methods. The real-time Delphi method facilitated the development of a comprehensive and scientifically grounded pediatric nursing simulation scenario template. Our template aligns with the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning standards, and provides valuable guidance for educators in designing effective simulation scenarios, contributing to enhanced learning outcomes and better preparation for pediatric clinical practice. However, consideration of cultural and contextual adaptations is necessary, and further research should explore alternative consensus criteria.
As a cross-sectional study, this study was aimed to investigate and compare the job efficiency and satisfaction of nurses according to the hospital grade. Survey was conducted by mail on June 2009, and the respondents were 1,016 nurses working in 15 hospitals which are 9 high-grade general hospitals and 6 general hospitals. The percent of nurses acknowledging their hospital grades is 34.5%, and that is 20.5% at high-grade general hospitals. As the result of review of studies, it is concluded that under the circumstance that differential rates are contracted to calculate fees for hospital services and copayment of patients are according to nursing grades and hospital grades, the degree of nurses' awareness of insurance fees impact on their performance like recording of care and prescription. In order to improve nurses' performance, they need to be educated about the national insurance fee system. In hospitals with higher nursing grade and more beds, the levels of nursing quality and faithfulnes and their job satisfaction were higher. Nurses' awareness of their hospital nursing grade was related to the quality of nursing but not the faithfulness. Nurses working in higher nursing-grade hospital are more self-respect and satisfied at their jobs, and their job efficiencies are not significantly different. The current nursing fees based on the proper number of nurses per beds of nursing units should be changed to be based on the amount of job per nurse by their nursing protocol, and the nurse staffing standard should be differentiated between nursing grades. As the aspect of nursing, 24-hours patient care, it is difficult to improve nurses' job satisfaction, and in the other hand, that tends to depend on their income level. In the current circumstance, comprehensive research is required to investigate the propriety of 25% of the inpatient fees as the nursing management charge.
