Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop an elderly care volunteer program for nursing students and to evaluate its effects. Method: An elderly care volunteer program was developed and then used with 77 nursing students for 6 months. Before and after the program, students responded with a questionnaire on knowledge, attitude and behavior toward the elderly. Data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, $x^2$-test, t-test, and Repeated measure ANOVA. Result: The elderly care volunteer program significantly improved knowledge toward elderly between the experimental and control groups but not in attitude and behavior toward elderly. Conclusion: This study shows that the elderly care volunteer program was an effective service-learning program to improve knowledge toward elderly for nursing students.

Purpose: This study was performed to explore the effects of an admission-education program on knowledge, self-efficacy, self-care and glucose control in type 2 diabetes patients. Method: A single group pre-post test design was used. Twenty-one patients participated in this program during 6 days which consisted of education and practice about exercise, diet, self-care and prevention of complications. Variables at baseline, 3 months, and 6 months were measured. Results: Knowledge level, self-care level and self-efficacy were significantly increased over time after the admission-education program. The $HbA_1C$ level and glucose level in urine were significantly decreased over time after the admission-education program. Conclusion: The admission-education program can increase levels of knowledge, self-care, self-efficacy and decrease glucose levels. Therefore, this admissioneducation program was shown to have a positive effect on the management of diabetes.

This study describes the development of nursing education program on web-based instruction for Nursing Management Practice of nursing school. The program has been developed based on five steps of the teaching-learning design model developed by Chung, In-Sung which is widely used in Web-Based Instruction(WBI). The objective of this study was to develop nursing education program on WEI and to evaluate its effectiveness. The subjects consisted of twenty-four senior nursing students taking the Nursing Management Practice course. Two sets of questionnaires were used for this study. They were asked to evaluate the program in terms of appropriateness of the teaching strategy, precision of the contents, easiness of use, easiness of approaching system, interface design, system management, enhancement of communication, and effectiveness of learning. The program was developed in five steps, analysis of the student, design of the contents, production of the system, implementation of the system, and evaluation of the effectiveness. It is concluded that this program was very useful in increasing the effectiveness of learning and motivation in the students. In addition to this, the web-based learning system would be one of the best qualified educational method for nursing students. Therefore, I would suggest that it can be used for other nursing courses which is available on the Web.

Purpose: This study was conducted to verify the effectiveness of a cost management education program, focusing on the differences between a web-based group and a mobile-based group. Method: This was a quasi-experimental study using a two-group pretest-posttest design. Participants were 74 nurses in a web-based group and 69 nurses in a mobile-based group. Data were collected between January 2 and February 10. The cost management education program was configured such that the participants studied eight modules over four weeks. The after-program post-test was conducted for one week. Results: Both the web-based group and the mobile-based group showed significantly higher values for cost management knowledge (S=5.98, p<.001 and S=2.76, p=.006, respectively). The web-based group had statistically significantly higher values for cost management knowledge (S=4,461.50, p<.001) than the mobile group. Conclusion: The cost management education program showed improvement in knowledge in both the web-based and mobile-based groups; however, the web-based approach was more effective for nurses. A cost management education program which can be implemented effectively across all range of nurses is recommended.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of an education program on child health and safety for teachers in child daycare centers. Method: Using a nonequivalent one group pretest-posttest design, 41 day care staff(N=41) from 12 day care centers in Seoul and D-gun in Chung-Nam were assigned to experimental group. A program that is appropriate for preventing injuries and protecting the health of young children at child daycare centers was developed. Health and safety education program was provided for the intervention group for 2 weeks two times. Results: After education session, the mean score of knowledge, self confidence, practice on safety and health in child care teachers were significantly increased. There were significant differences in the degree of knowledge according to education, and in the degree of practice according to age. Conclusions: The education program for child care teachers was effective in promoting knowledge, self confidence and practice on child health and safety. The results suggest that health and safety education program should be provided systematically and continuously for child care teachers.
Increasing interest in computer-mediated learning technologies has prompted educators to incorporate them into many learning environments ; however, there is still little evaluative evidence to support their effectiveness. This report describes the development and evaluation of a web-based instructional program on basic nursing science for nursing students. Researcher-designed questionnaires were used to assess the characteristics of our students, and to solicit their ratings of the instructional program on ease of use, accuracy of content, clarity of content, interest, and convenience of the program, using 5-point Likert scales. The respondents indicated that the package was easy and convenient to use, with high technical quality, and of a level challenging to some but not all of the students. On-line quizzes were most highly rated. Also it was confirmed that frequent users of electronic bulletin board showed much higher achievement score than that of nonfrequent users. It was also found that the effect of cyber education was dependent on the active participation of the students. These data suggest that the use of web-based instructional program as a distance education strategy can be an effective method for nursing students and nurses.
1. The purpose of this study. The purpose of this study is to plan and investigate short-term nursing education of two-years associate degree program to produce middle-level professional nurses which are needed by-society and nation. Current nursing education in Korea is divided into four years degree program, three years diploma program Even (though) there are differences in the aims of their education, the curriculums are not much different between the education for producing leaders which is its basic purpose and training middle-level professional nurses. Therefore the purpose of associate degree program lies in minimizing the waste of time and finance which are invested for long-term education for middle-level professional nurses. And also this coincide with the policy of national technical training and definite supply of nurse manpower according to health policy for effective role and ability of nurse. 2. The method of study. This is based on the study of literature, research on the actual condition and investigation of opinion- through questionnaire. L) The study of literature: Domestic and foreign literatures for two years associate degree program were studied and investigated. 2) Research on the actual condition : Current three years nursing education program was collected and analysed. 3) Investigation of opinion. The problem of curried nursing education system and the possibility of two years associate degree program were investigated through questionnaire. 3. The result of the study. 1) The trend of recent nursing education. a. The aims of nursing in past chiefly taking care of physical disease of patient has recently changed to nursing of character including physical, mental, socio-economic, educational and psychological condition. b. For the performing systematic and effective nurse's duty according to her role, the-change of educational system which is classified as a range of education the period of education and certificate after graduation has been enforced or fulfilled. c. Nursing education also has a trend to become a collage or two years associate degree program which can get same legal protection as other educational institutions whose basic purpose is education. Attached nursing school to hospital is getting disappeared because of disadvantage of educational system. 2) Problems. Depending upon research on actual condition of current 3 years nursing education program. a. There are too many subjects. b. Contents of education could be doubled because major subjects are subdivided in detail. c. The credits for graduation are too heavy comparing to the period of study or the ability of students. (The necessary credits are 150.8 for three years according to actual investigation 4. There is no certain standard in organizing curriculum therefore there are too much differences between schools. 4. Basic Plan. The plan for two years associate degree program in nursing education depending on demand of professional nursing field of society is based on following items. 1) Training middle-level professional nurse lay emphasis on liberal arts and basic major field. 2) Liberal arts are divided into required and optional subjects and students could take courses by choice. 3) Major subjects are compound together by fields and they become the sciences of nursing Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ,Ⅳ and every items has its educational purposes and contents major study includes laboratory practice and clinical experience. 4) The required credits for graduation are to which means 17-18 credits a semester. The above has been planned to solve the problems of current three years nursing education program. In conclusion for the achievement of this system, following items are needed. 1) It is necessary to change educational administration and system such as amendment of educational law or order of educational application of law. 2) Qualified professors should be available to understand and develope the idea or purpose of this educational system. 3) Local medical institutions should be opened widely and educational for clinical training. 4) The job after graduation should he secured positively.
Purpose: This study was conducted to develop an e-Learning program that assists nursing students' clinical Purpose: This study was conducted to develop and evaluate a web-based education program for secondary stroke prevention. Methods: A web-based secondary stroke prevention education program was developed using the system's life cycle methods and evaluated by comparing the effects of education among three groups, a web group, a booklet group and a control group. Results: Knowledge level of both patients and family, as well as some health behavior compliance in the web-based and booklet education groups were significantly higher than those of the control group. Family support in the web-based and booklet education groups was significantly higher than that of the control group after 12 weeks. The urine cotinine level in the web-based education group was significantly lower than that of the control group after 12 weeks. Medication adherence, blood pressure and perceived health status were not statistically different among the three groups at any time. Conclusion: Webbased and booklet education programs were equally effective regarding the level of knowledge of patients and their families, family support, health behavior compliance, and urine cotinine level. These results demonstrate the potential use of a webbased education program for secondary stroke prevention.

Purpose: This study was done to develop a web-based education program on appropriate antibiotic use and test the effects of the program on knowledge and attitudes towards antibiotic use in Korean adolescents. Methods: The web-based education program was developed through an extensive literature review and professional advisory meetings including technical assistance from a web-based education programmer and content experts. A convenience sample of 851 students from middle and high schools participated in the assessment of effects of the program. Knowledge and attitudes of the students towards antibiotic use and satisfaction with the web-based education program were measured. Descriptive statistics and paired t-test were used to analyze the data. Results: There were significant improvements in knowledge and attitudes towards antibiotic use following self-learning via the web-based education program in both middle and high school students. High school students demonstrated higher scores in knowledge and attitudes than middle school students. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that this web-based education program on appropriate antibiotic use is a convenient and effective medium for self-learning in adolescents. Therefore the web-based program should be put into wide use as an effective and convenient teaching method for health education in secondary schools.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a hospice and palliative care education program including meaning in life on attitudes to end-of-life care and meaning in life for nursing students. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental and non- synchronized with a non-equivalent control group design. The experimental group (n=28) participated in a hospice and palliative care education program including meaning in life. The control group (n=28) participated only in a hospice and palliative care education program. The 30-hour course examined hospice and palliative nursing care and logotherapy. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire consisting of general characteristics, attitudes to end-of-life care, and meaning in life. Collected data were analyzed for frequency, percentage, ${\chi}^2$-test, and t-test using SPSS 19.0 WIN Program. Results: Scores for the attitude towards end-of-life care in the experimental group were significantly higher than in the control group. The meaning in life scores in the experimental group were significantly higher than in the control group. Conclusion: These findings suggest that the hospice and palliative care education program, including meaning in life, was effective in enhancing the attitude to end-of-life care and meaning in life among nursing students.
