  • This study is a descriptive evaluation of the differences in biomedical ethics consciousness, related knowledge, awareness, and attitude of nursing college students according to the completion of biomedical ethics education. The data were collected from 112 nursing students using self-report questionnaires and analyzed by t-test, Chi-Square test, Fisher's exact probability test and Pearson's correlation coefficient using SPSS 21.0. There were significant differences between the two groups in the sub-domains of biomedical ethics consciousness, artificial insemination, euthanasia and organ transplantation. The biomedical ethics consciousness was positively correlated with attitudes toward human tissue donation and transplantation, awareness of death, and awareness of hospice palliative care. The results of this study showed that after participating in the biomedical ethics education, nursing college students had statistically significant differences in the consciousness of artificial insemination, euthanasia, and organ transplantation. Moreover, the consciousness of biomedical ethics was related to attitude toward human tissue donation and transplantation and awareness of hospice palliative care. Based on the results of this study, we would like to suggest the need for development of various curricula related to death, hospice palliative care, human tissue donation and transplantation in the biomedical ethics curriculum. In addition, as the study was conducted in a single college, it is difficult to generalize the results; therefore, additional studies at different facilities are recommended.

The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 24.0. DISC behavioral style analysis showed that 10.6% were dominant, 33.8% were influence, and 48.5% were steadiness and 7.1% were conscientiousness. Knowledge score in accordance with the measured points of DISC behavioral style did not show differences in the first, but did show differences in the second and third. Conversely, clinical performance score in accordance with the measurement points of DISC behavioral style showed differences in the first, second and third.Knowledge and clinical performance scores revealed significant differences in the interactions between the groups, between measurement points and between groups and measurement points. As a result, DISC behavioral style of nursing college students vary, with each having merits and demerits. Therefore, it is necessary to provide an opportunity to understand these points and to develop merits in order to improve the learning outcomes of the curriculum.

  • This study was attempted to confirm the effects of nursing students' artificial intelligence literacy and grit on their creative convergence capabilities. This study targeted 133 students attending two nursing colleges located in G Province. Data analysis was analyzed using SPSS 21 program with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis. The average creative convergence competency of the subjects was 3.53 points, and there was a significant difference in creative convergence competency according to general characteristics in grades (F=8.65, p<.005) and major satisfaction (F=3.95, p=.021). there was. The subject's creative convergence capability had a statistically significant positive correlation with artificial intelligence literacy (r=.599, p<.001) and grit (r=473, p<.001). The influencing factors on the subjects' creative convergence capabilities were artificial intelligence literacy (β=0.350, p<.001) and grit (β=0.192, p<.001), and the explanatory power of these variables was 45.6%. Based on the above research results, it is necessary to develop and apply curriculum and extracurricular programs that can improve artificial intelligence literacy and grit in order to improve the creative convergence capabilities of nursing students.

  • Purpose: To evaluate the effectiveness of pilot program on standard curriculum of hospice palliative care education; a basic training program for physician, nurse, social worker and clergies at hospice institute. Methods: To develop an educational program, we used the Education in Palliative and End-of-life Care (EPEC) program as a paradigm and modified it to be suited in our situation: The standard curriculum consists of 19 modules, and it is designed to be applied to the teaching methods, including lecture, interactive lecture, small group discussions, and role play. To verify its contents and teaching methods, we implemented a pilot program which consisted of 3 modules, using various teaching methods; trigger video tapes, interactive lecture, small group discussions, and role play. Results: Overwhelming majority were satisfied with the teaching methods and learner-centered methods, and agreed that the contents were clinically relevant to the care of dying patients. They also indicated that their attitudes would likely change as a result of the education. Conclusion: The effects of the pilot program on standard curriculum of hospice and palliative care are very positive and has broader implications for improving hospice palliative care education. For successful implementation of the program, trainers must also be prepared to teach effectively. Also it must be accompanied with train-the trainer program.

  • The School Health Act was revised in 2007 and the contents of school health education was officially organized in the school curriculum in elementary, middle and high schools, since the contents of school health education disappeared in 1963. For the successful school health education, sufficient time for health education should be provided by opening health education course as an essential subject in every grade. The large scale schools need to have more school health teachers for performing efficient health education and in all schools there needs to be a reorganization of the teacher's complex works. For quality improvements of the health education, the change of principal's attitude and budget plan for health education are essential. Additionally, various training programs for school health teachers and developing effective educational materials should be provided.

  • Hospice, a concept of care for dying patients, focuses on providing comfort measures rather than aggressively searching for a cure. Hospice addresses symptom control from a wholistic view under the direction of an interdisciplinary team. Physical therapy fits with many of the tenets of hospice, such as the interdisciplinary team, inclusion of the patient and family as the care unit, provision of treatment in various in and out patient settings, and attention to the comfort of the patient. Physical therapy educators must recognize the need for medical ethics, psychosocial and medicolegal issues to be incorporated throughout the curriculum.
