Confinement effectiveness of CFRP strengthened concrete cylinders subjected to high temperatures

  • The current study investigated experimentally the effectiveness of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) in confining concrete cylinders after being subjected to high temperature. Parameters examined were: (a) the exposing temperatures (20, 100, 200, 400 600 and 700℃) and (b) the number of CFRP layers (1 and 3 layers). A uniaxial compressive testing was carried out on 36 concrete cylinders with dimensions of 150 mm×300 mm. The results obtained show that the compressive strength reduced with the increased of temperature compared to that measured at 20℃. In particular, the reduction in the compressive strength was more observed when the temperature exceeded 400℃. Further, the concrete cylinders confined with one and three layers of CFRP significantly increased the compressive strength compared to the counterpart unconfined specimen tested at the same temperature. Also, the average percentages of the increase in the compressive strength were approximately 112% and 158% when applying 1 and 3 layers of CFRP, respectively, compared to the counterpart unstrengthened specimen tested at the same temperature.

토너입자형 디스플레이의 광학특성에 관한 연구 (A study on Optical Characteristics of Charged Toner Particle Type Display)

  • We fabricated the charged particle type display using opposite-charged two toner particles. The particles were composed of polymer, colorant($TiO_2$, carbon black) and external additives(nano-sized silica and so on). In fabrication process we controlled the putting layers of this toner particles on the inner panel. To get the effect of number of layers ($1{\sim}3$), we measured the threshold, driving and breakdown voltages, reflectivity, viewing angle, and color characteristics using RT-300 anisotropic scattering system. We ascertained that these voltages are increased with increasing of layers of particles. Cell gap between electrodes must be enlarged with increment of layers and the size of particles. The lumping phenomena of particles at near of the rib observed by optical system with same CIE values.

코팅재로서 MMA 개질 폴리머 페이스트의 내구성능 평가 (Evaluation of Durability on MMA-Modified Polymer Paste for Coating materials)

  • In this study, MMA-modified paste of coating material for protecting the concrete structures was developed. The coating material was applied to cement concrete specimens by brush, roller and spray in each of which one, two and three layers to survey, by the cold-hot iterative test, the neutralization test, the chloride ion permeation test and the ante-abrasion test, the affect of painting methods and layers influencing on the durability of coating material. Results of the cold-hot iterative test showed that, regardless of the painting methods and layers, the defects such as crack or fuzz on surface were not produced. As the number of painting layers increased, the neutralization prevention as well as the chloride ion permeation prevention effects were increased. On the other hand, no difference was found between the painting methods. Reducing weight by abrasion of polymer paste coating material was $20\%$ comparing to that of cement mortar.

웨이브렛 변환된 다해상도 영상을 이용한 계층적 움직임 추정 (Multi-resolution hierarchical motion estimation in the wavelet transform domain)

  • In this paper, a new hierarchical motion estiamtion scheme using the wavelet transformed multi-resolution image layers is proposed. Compared with the full search motion estimation method, the existing hierarchical methods remarkably reduce the amount of the computation but their efficiencies are depreciated by the local minima problem. In order to solve the local minima problem, the multi-resolution image layers are composed using the wavelet transform and the number of layers participated in the motion estimation for a block is determined by considering of its low band energy and higher band energy on the first wavelet transformed layer. The ratio between higher band energy and low band energy of each block is evaluated and in the case of the blocks which include relatively large higher band energy, the motion estimation is carried out in the high resolution layer. Otherwise, all layers are used. The final motion vectors are obtained in the first wavelet transformed layer. So less bits for motion vectors are transmitted, and the decomposition of received image using inverse wavelet transform decreases the blocking effect.

Effects of Rearing Systems on Performance, Egg Characteristics and Immune Response in Two Layer Hen Genotype

  • White (Lohmann LSL) and Brown (ATAK-S) laying hens, were reared under organic and conventional cage rearing systems, and the effects of the rearing system on performance parameters, egg production, egg characteristics, and immune response were investigated. For this purpose, a total of 832 laying hens of two commercial hybrids, i.e., 416 white (Lohmann LSL) and 416 Brown (ATAK-S) layers, were used. The experiment lasted between 23 and 70 wk of age. In this study, the white layers yielded more eggs as compared to the brown layers in both organic and conventional production systems. Egg weight exhibited a similar pattern to that of laying performance. However, the total hen-housed egg number for the white birds in the organic system was fewer than that of white birds in the conventional cage facility; conversely, a contradictory tendency was observed for the brown birds. Livability of the white layers in the organic system was remarkably lower (14%) than that of the brown line, whereas the white line survived better (3.42%) than their brown counterparts in conventional cages. The feed conversion ratio of the white hens was markedly inferior in the organic system as compared to that of the white hens in the conventional system, whereas relatively lower deterioration was reported in brown layers when reared in an organic system. The organic production system increased egg albumen height and the Haugh unit in eggs of the brown layers. The yolk color score of organic eggs was lower than that of conventional eggs for both brown and white hens. The egg yolk ratio of eggs from white layers was found to be higher in organic eggs as compared to those obtained in the conventional system. All organic eggs had heavier shells than those produced in the conventional system. Eggs from brown layers had more protein content than eggs from white layers. Neither housing systems nor genotype influenced egg yolk cholesterol concentration. When compared to conventional eggs, n-3 fatty acid content was lower in organic eggs, and the n-6:n-3 ratio was higher in organic eggs. In conclusion, two hen genotypes showed different responses in terms of performance and egg quality to two different rearing systems. A commercial white strain produced more eggs with higher egg quality as compared to a native brown strain. The brown strain was found to have adapted well to organic production conditions when survival and total egg number was taken into consideration.

  • 본 연구에서는 폐타이어를 활용하여 새롭게 고안한 타이어셀 매트의 모래지반 보강효과를 알아보기 위하여 다양한 조건의 평판재하시험을 수행하였다. 계하시험조건은 셀 간의 연결을 위한 볼트 수, 상대밀도, 복토두께, 보강층수, 타이어셀 매트 폭을 변수로 보강효과를 조사하였다. 재하시험 결과 연결용 볼트의 수는 지지력에 큰 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났으며 1개의 볼트로 주어진 하중을 충분히 견딜 수 있었다. 보강토의 극한지지력과 무보강토의 극한지지력의 비로 정의되는 지지력비(BCR)는 낮은 밀도에서 최대값을 나타내었다. 또한 극한상태에서의 침하감소효과도 낮은 밀도에서 큰 것으로 나타났다. 복토에 따른 보강효과는 복토두께가 1.0B이내에서 보강효과를 얻을 수 있었으나 그 이상에서는 보강효과가 나타나지 않았다. 보강층의 간격이 재하판폭의 0.4내지 0.5배일 경우 보강효과는 보강층이 2층일 때까지는 보강효과가 있으나 3층 이상에서는 효과가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 보강층이 1개층일 때 지지력 증가 효과가 크며 2개층으로 증가함에 따라 증가율은 저하되는 것으로 나타났다. 타이어셀 매트폭이 2.0B에서 최대지지력을 보였으나 매트폭의 영향은 타이어셀의 강성이 크기 때문에 미소하였다. 타이어셀 매트의 지반보강효과는 문헌상의 상업용 지오웹과 비교하여 뛰어난 것으로 나타났다.

  • 환원그래핀옥사이드(rGO)는 우수한 전기 화학적 능력으로 많은 응용과 관심이 집중되고 있어, 이에 대한 구조 및 열분석을 통한 rGO의 표준화는 품질개선과 관리를 용이하게 하여 사용자가 효율성을 높이고 비용을 절감할 수 있도록 할 수 있다. rGO 및 그래핀 관련 재료의 경우 레이어 층수의 결정과 그에 따른 물성의 차이를 정의하는 것이 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 하이드라진 환원공정을 통해 그래핀옥사이드(GO)로부터 3~4층의 rGO-1과 9~10층의 rGO-2를 얻었다. 이렇게 준비된 rGO에 대해 X선 회절(XRD) 패턴인 (002) 반사와 관련된 2θ≈25°에서 회절 피크를 얻어 층간 거리와 FWHM 값을 얻어 층수(layer number)를 결정하였다. 이때 XRD 데이터 분석은 회절분석용 표준물질들을 사용하여 각도 보정을 수행하였다. 정밀한 층간거리와 FWHM 값은, 각도 보정된 회절 데이터를 이용하여 OriginLab 및 오픈 소스 XRD 회절분석 프로그램들을 사용하여 결정하였다. rGO 샘플들의 추가적인 물성 표준화 분석을 위해 TG-DSC 열분석을 수행하였다.

저층·고층 아파트가 혼합배치된 단지에서 공기단축이 건설사업비에 미치는 영향 분석 (Effects of Time Shortening on Project Cost in Housing Complex with Different Number of Layers)

  • 최근 도시 미관이 중요시 되면서 동일 아파트 건설단지 내에서 저층과 고층 아파트가 혼합배치되는 경우가 많아지고 있다. A공사에서 발주한 아파트 사업지구 중 고층 동들과 저층 동들 간의 층수 차가 4층 이상인 지구가 약 33%인 것으로 조사되었다. 일반적으로 아파트 공사의 공기는 단지 내최고층 동을 기준으로 산정한다. 이로 인해 전체 사업지구의 공사기간이 길어지고, 길어진 공기는 해당사업의 사업성에 나쁜 영향을 미친다. 그러므로 동일 단지 내 저층 고층 아파트 동들이 혼합 배치된 사업지구(이하 "혼합사업지구"라 한다)의 사업성 제고를 위해 일부 고층동 아파트의 골조공기를 단축해야 할 것이다. 그러나 혼합사업지구의 다양한 유형으로 인해 어떤 경우에는 공기단축이 사업성을 더 나쁘게 만들 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 다양한 유형을 갖고 있는 혼합사업지구의 골조공기 단축 여부를 판단할 수 있는 자료제공을 위해 혼합사업지구의 일부 고층동에 대한 골조공기 단축이 건설사업비에 미치는 영향을 분석하여 그 결과를 제시하였다.

Manufacture of Wood Veneer-Bamboo Zephyr Composite Board - I. Properties of Bamboo Zephyr and Composite Board Made from Moso, Giant Timber and Hachiku Bamboo -

  • Wood veneer-bamboo zephyr composite board (WBCB) was manufactured to evaluate the properties of bamboo as alternative raw materials for the manufacture of composite panels. Bamboo zephyr was prepared using Moso bamboo (Phyllostachys pubesens Mazel. et Z), Giant timber bamboo (Phyllostachys bambusoides Sieb. et Zucc), and Hachiku bamboo (Phyllostachys nigra var. henosos Stapf). The effect of age and species of bamboo on zephyr production was investigated in terms of the pass number of bamboo split through the rollers, and the width increasing rate of bamboo split. Five-ply WBCBs were produced with Keruing veneers as face and back layers, leading to three layers of bamboo zephyr sheets as core layer. Each layer was placed so that its grain direction was at right angles to that of the adjacent layer and the layers were bonded together with phenol-formaldehyde (PF) resin.The pass number of bamboo split was increased with an increase of the thickness of culm wall. At the same thickness, Moso bamboo showed no effect of the age of bamboo on the pass number. The pass number of split of Giant timber bamboo was lower than that of Moso bamboo. No significant effect of bamboo species and age on the width of zephyr produced was observed. The width of zephyr obtained could be expressed as a function of diameter multiplied by thickness of culm wall. The physical and mechanical properties of WBCB manufactured in all given conditions did not show any significant differences, and they were above the requirement of Korean Standard (KS).

Characterization of Tifton 85 bermudagrass haylage with different layers of polyethylene film and storage time

  • Objective: The objective was to characterize the fermentative and microbiological profile of Tifton 85 bermudagrass haylage with different layers of polyethylene film and storage time. Methods: The experimental design consisted of a randomized block design with four and six wrapping layers (100 and 150 microns in total. respectively) allocated in the main plots, through repeated measures analysis (30, 60, and 90 days of storage) with four replicates. Results: The storage time and number of wrapping layers did not show changes in the population of Clostridium and lactic acid bacteria. A decrease was observed in the enterobacteria population with an increase in the storage period in the two wrapping layers studied. Upon opening of the haylage at 30 days, the population of Bacillus was lower in haylages made with six layers of wrapping (3.63 log colony forming units/g). No growth of Listeria sp. or Salmonella sp. was observed during the experimental period. The fungal genera with a greater occurrence were Penicillium sp. and Fusarium sp. The following mycotoxins were not detected: ochratoxin A, fumonisins, and zearalenone. Relative to the organic butyric, propionic, and acetic acids, the haylages presented a low concentration of lactic acid; this may have prevented a drop in the pH, which was high when the silos were opened (5.4). The levels of ammoniacal nitrogen and soluble carbohydrates presented no variation among the number of wrapping layers, with an overall average of 35.55 and 38.04 g/kg. Conclusion: Tifton 85 bermudagrass haylage wrapped with four and six layers presented adequate fermentation and microbiological characteristics in the evaluated periods.
