The Link between Number of Sales Accounts and Salespeople's Performance (영업사원의 거래처 수와 영업성과 간의 관계에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose - Previous research has shown that a very high level and a very low level of job scope can both be more stressful than intermediate levels of job scope. This study investigates the potential positive and negative effects of the number of accounts handled by sales personnel. The primary objective of this paper is to examine how the number of accounts salespeople handle affects their stress and performance. Research design, data, and methodology - This research conducted the data collection using a survey of salespeople in the pharmaceutical industry. I sent the survey to 420 salespeople, and received 318 usable responses. To assess measurement reliability and validity, I ran an exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. I also employed structural equation modeling (SEM) to test all hypothesized effects in AMOS and also measured the interaction variable using Ping's (1996) approach. Results - These results show that there are linear and non-linear effects of the number of accounts handled by the salesperson on both role ambiguity and role conflict. First, the number of accounts handled by a salesperson is positively related to role ambiguity and role conflict. Second, the effect of the number of accounts handled on role ambiguity and role conflict decreases as the number of accounts handled by the salesperson increases. Third, as accounts increase from a low level, role stress increases; when the number of accounts reaches an optimal level, role stress decreases; and when the number of accounts increases to a high level, it can be detrimental to the salesperson's role stress. Fourth, while product complexity is positively related to role ambiguity, brand strength is negatively related to both role ambiguity and role conflict. Fifth, the greater the brand strength, the weaker the relationship will be between the number of accounts handled and salesperson role ambiguity. Finally, role ambiguity is positively related to salesperson performance. Conclusion - Too much and too little accounts increase the role ambiguity and role conflict of salespersons. Managers should identify the complex effect of the number of accounts handled by salespeople. Also, when products are complex, managers should provide training to eliminate any complex processes and complex information. These results suggest ways to decrease salespersons' role stress by ensuring an optimal level of the number of accounts and brand strength.

Analysis of official Instagram accounts of dental hygiene departments in Korea: relationship between number of posts and followers (우리나라 치위생(학)과 공식 인스타그램 계정 분석: 게시물 수와 팔로워 수의 관련성)

  • Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the official Instagram accounts of dental hygiene departments, focusing on the relationship between the number of posts and the number of followers. Additionally, the study sought to determine the status of these Instagram accounts through classifying posts by type. Methods: A total of 49 official Instagram accounts from Korean dental hygiene departments were selected as subjects. Correlation and regression analyses were conducted using SPSS ver. 26.0 Statistics software to determine the correlation between the total number of posts and the number of followers. Results: The results indicated a statistically significant difference in follower numbers between 3 year colleges (Mean: 284.11) and 4 year universities (Mean: 167.86), based on university classification (p=0.035). Correlation analysis demonstrated that the number of posts had a significant effect on the number of followers (r=0.338, p=0.017). Conclusions: The findings showed that the differences in Instagram follower numbers and the number of posts among different university classifications significantly influenced the number of followers.

Daylight Observations of Venus with Naked Eye in the Goryeosa

  • In this paper, we investigate the observations of Venus in daytime that are recorded in the Goryeosa (History of the Goryeo Dynasty, A.D. 918-1392). There are a total of 167 accounts of such observations in this historical book, spanning a period of 378 yr (from 1014 to 1392). These include six accounts where the days of the observation are not specified and two accounts where the phase angles are outside the calculation range of the equation used in our study. We analyze the number distribution of 164 accounts in 16 yr intervals covering the period from 1023 to 1391. We find that this distribution shows its minimum at around 1232, when the Goryeo dynasty moved the capital to the Ganghwa Island because of the Mongol invasion, and its maximum at around 1390, about the time when the dynasty fell. In addition, we calculate the azimuth, altitude, solar elongation, and apparent magnitude of Venus at sunset for 159 observations, excluding the eight accounts mentioned above, using the DE 406 ephemeris and modern astronomical algorithms. We find that the average elongation and magnitude of Venus on the days of those accounts were ${\sim}40^{\circ}$ and -4.5, respectively, whereas the minimum magnitude was -3.8. The results of this study are useful for estimating the practical conditions for observing Venus in daylight with the naked eye and they also provide additional insight into the corresponding historical accounts contained in the Goryeosa.

An Exploratory Study on the Psychological Meaning of Finsta Use: The Role of Online Social Support, Self-Monitoring and Subjective Well-Being (인스타그램 부계정 사용의 심리학적 의미에 관한 탐색적 연구: 온라인 사회적 지지, 자기감시성과 주관적 안녕감을 중심으로)

  • In this study, we investigated the relationship between Finsta use and perceived online social support, self-monitoring, and subjective well-being. Furthermore, we investigated whether the number of Instagram accounts mediates the relationship between self-monitoring and perceived online social support. For this reason, To this end, we conducted an online survey of 396 adults in their 20s. Results indicated that the number of Instagram accounts showed a positive correlation with perceived online social support and self-monitoring, but did not show a significant correlation with subjective well-being. Next, it was found that the higher the level of self-monitoring, the higher the probability of using of Finsta. In addition, the number of Instagram accounts was found to partially mediate the relationship between self-monitoring and perceived online social support. In other words, the higher the self-monitoring was associated with, , the more Instagram accounts were, and many Instagram accounts increased the level of perceived online social support. For the first time in Korea, this study confirmed the relationship between Finsta use and perceived online social support, self-monitoring, and subjective well-being., Also, this study was meaningful because itand explored whether self-monitoring leads to perceived online social support through the number of Instagram accounts. In addition, this studyit has social meaning in that it sheds light on how online interactions are connected to the real world.

Savings Accounts, Savings Insurance and Private Financial Clubs and Their Determinants (도시근로자 가계의 저축, 저축성보험, 계에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of household characteristics on savings account, savings insurance, and private financial clubs. Data for this study were collected from the 2001 Household Income and Expenditure Survey consisting of a sample of 1,801 salary and wage earners' households. Tobit analysis was peformed to investigate savings accounts, savings insurance and private financial clubs. The results showed that 76% of households held savings accounts, 77% savings insurance, and 12% non-institutional assets in private financial clubs. Sender, age, education, job, spouse employment, family type, location, home ownership, number of children, and family income were significant determinants of investment in savings accounts, savings insurance, and private financial clubs. Family income was the most powerful variable.

Patent Trend of Unmanned and Automated Agricultural Production - Open Field Operation -

  • This study was conducted to determine the major patent and analyze the patent trend of unmanned and automated agricultural production for the open field operation. As a result of conducting a search for patent applications related to these technologies, 1,080 valid patents were selected by evaluating the relevance of the patents and removing noise patents. As a result of the country-based analysis using the selected valid patents, it was found out that the largest number of patent applications were filed in the United States with 541 cases, followed by Japan with 326 cases, the European Union with 128 cases, and Korea with 85 cases. Upon classifying the valid patents into core technology, the path generation and tracking technology accounts for 33% with 353 cases; the implementing control with environmental condition technology accounts for 22% with 236 cases; the robot design technology accounts for 21% with 228 cases; the plant and environment sensing technology accounts for 19% with 206 cases; the yield and quality monitoring technology accounts for 5% with 58 cases. Finally, 10 core patents were selected by performing a patent index evaluation. The United States registered all of the 10 core patents. The results showed that Korea falls behind in the open field-related unmanned and automated agricultural production, compared to other developed agricultural countries.

The Effects of Housing Wealth on the Balance of Elderly Household Accounts (주택자산이 고령자가구의 재정수지에 미치는 영향)

  • This study analyzed the effects of housing wealth on the balance accounts of elderly households with an age of over 60 facing the asset decumulation period, capitalizing upon an ordered logit model for the 2011 household finance survey data. Out of some variables representing personal and social characteristics, the age and waged worker variables had a positive effect, but the number of household, low education level, living in the apartment and capital region variables negatively affected the balance accounts of elderly households. Some variables reflecting economic wealth and financial strategies such as the attitude of risk-taking, ordinary income and the ratio of financial assets had a positive impact, but other variables such as DSR did a negative one on the balance accounts of the elderly households. The ownership of housing wealth variable positively, but the ratio of housing assets variable negatively affected the balance accounts of the elderly households, which could be derived from the duality of housing as both consumption goods and assets. However, the ownership of other real estates and the ratio of them in the total assets variables had a negative impact on the balance accounts of the elderly households. Furthermore, since the financial asset-debt ratio worsened the balance accounts of the elderly households with both housing and other real estates, it is implied that the purchase of real estates with excessive bank loans could make them dangerous.

The Effect of Background Services on Android Smartphone Performance (백그라운드 서비스가 안드로이드 스마트폰의 성능에 미치는 영향)

  • In Android smartphones, many apps are developed as service apps to run in the background. If the memory is insufficient, Android forcibly terminates not only user apps that have not used the CPU for a long time, but also service apps. However, a service app is automatically re-launched after a short period of time, so that it continuously consumes memory space. This paper analyzes the number of running service apps and their memory usage in users' smartphones. The number of service apps accounts for up to 65% of the total number of running apps, and their memory usage accounts for up to 55% of the total memory. Moreover, we investigate the effect of the number of running service apps on the response time of smartphones and apps. As the number of service apps increases, the launching time of user apps increases to 22 times. The booting time and app installation time significantly increase with the number of service apps.

Identifying Influential Users of College Sports Teams' Social Media Accounts (대학스포츠팀 SNS의 영향력 있는 사용자의 분석)

  • This study tried to identify the influential users of college sports teams' Twitter accounts and categorize them into three groups including an official account, media account, and layperson account. A total of 14 Twitter accounts at NCAA Division 1 universities were selected through convenience sampling method. In men's sports, the greatest number of influential users was layperson account followed by media account and official account. In women's sports, the greatest number of influential users was layperson account followed by official account and media account. The results provided the insight of college sports online social network and will expand the growing literature on social media in sport and offer practical data for marketers to use social media more effectively.

A Study on the Interest of SNS Users according to New Media Fashion Content Types -Focus on Vogue Korea's Official Instagram- (뉴미디어 패션 콘텐츠 유형에 따른 사용자의 SNS 관심도 연구 -보그 코리아 공식 인스타그램 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study is to find trends in new media fashion content by analyzing the fashion content of the official Instagram accounts of domestic fashion magazines that are being transformed by digital media. The framework for these analysis of fashion content type and methods of production is based on one used in an earlier research project. Empirical analysis is conducted on Vogue Korea's official Instagram accounts, using the highest number of major views as the secondary measure of interest. After screening for fashion content in posts on the Vogue Korea account for four months, 291 short video postings were extracted to analyze the number of views the postings received. The results were categorized as 'star', 'show/exhibition', 'product', 'shop', 'fashion film', 'designer', or 'event', included in the data are the number of postings by type and the number of views by post. Based on the characteristics of the creator and the editing, the posts were classified into 'professional production highlight', 'professional production private', 'UCC' or 'GIF' videos, the number of views per post were also collected. The research results show different levels of interest depending on the type of fashion content, and also on the way the videos were produced. The study also investigated how the combination of these two factors affects interest. When producing a new media fashion content, combining a 'star' type post with 'professional production private' video content was most popular. The selection of production method is therefore important even given the same type of content.
