용접부 형상을 고려한 머플러의 피로수명 예측에 관한 연구 (Research on Fafigue Life Prediction of Muffler with Weld-zone Shape)

  • 본 연구에서는 용접부의 형상을 고려하여 머플러의 피로수명을 예측하는 프로세스를 개발하였다. 피로수명 예측 프로세스 개발을 위해 머플러의 굽힘 피로시험을 진행한 후 M-N선도를 획득하고, 파손이 발생한 용접부의 형상을 모델링 한 후 정적하중해석을 실시하고, 해석결과를 이용하여 응력집중계수를 구하였다. 응력집중계수는 피로노치계수를 구하는데 사용되며, 이를 바탕으로 피로수명을 예측하였다. 시험결과와 예측결과의 비교를 통해서 피로수명 예측의 타당성을 검증하였다.

5급 복합레진수복물의 응력분포에 관한 3차원 유한요소법적 연구 (Stress distribution of Class V composite resin restorations: A three-dimensional finite element study)

  • 본 연구는 3차원 유한요소 분석법적 연구를 통해 쐐기형 비우식성 치경부병소의 복합레진 수복물에서 다른 탄성계수를 가진 복합레진의 수복과 와동의 형태와 응력의 방향에 따른 응력분포의 영향에 대해 알아보고자 하였다. 발거된 상악 제2소구치를 Micro-CT로 스캔한 후 3D-DOCTOR로 3차원유한요소 모형을 제작하였다. 제작된 소구치 모형에 쐐기형 와동과 변형시킨 와동을 형성하고 각 와동을 탄성계수가 서로 다른 혼합형 복합레진 또는 흐름성 복합레진으로 수복하였다. 수복 전, 후 협측교두와 설측교두에 500N의 하중을 가한 후 응력분포를 ANSYS 프로그램을 이용하여 주 응력 분석법으로 평가한 바 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 수복 전 응력은 근심측 백악법랑경계와 와동저 선각부에 집중되었으며 최대응력은 근심협측우각부에서 나타났다. 2. 와동수복 후 와동저 선각의 응력은 현저히 감소했으나 치경부측 변연의 응력은 수복전보다 증가하였다. 3. 쐐기형태의 병소의 수복 시 와동저 선각부는 탄성계수가 높은 재료가 유리하고 치경부측 변연은 탄성계수가 낮은 재료가 유리하였다. 4. 와동저 선각부를 둥글게 변화시키는 것은 압축응력은 감소시키지 않으나 인장응력은 감소시켰다.

J-적분과 콘크리트 파괴거동에 관한 연구 (A study on the J-integral and the fracture behavior of concrete)

  • The effect of specimen thickness and notch's depth and the validity of J-integral analysis were studied on the fracture behavior of concrete. Through the 3-point bending test, the stress-deformation curves were experimentally measured. Concrete fracture toughness is calculated from stress-displacement curves. Concrete fracture toughness decreases when notch's depth is longer. So, Gf is less sensitive than JIc and Gf is more useful factor as concrete fracture toughness parameter. The values of J-integral and fracture energy increase when the breadth of concrete specimen get longer from 75mm to 150mm. Therefore, the breadth effect of specimen has to be considered in determining the concrete fracture toughness.

  • This paper describes the characteristic of hinges on which a lever pivots within a limited angle due to the torque. The hinges are exerted by the thermally expanded actuators connected with a level through hinges. To enhance the stroke of inchworm actuator, FEM(Finite Element Method) was utilized for the characterization in view of stress displacement according to the variation of notch radius and notch width. As a result, notch width of the hinges plays an important part in improvement of micro inchworm actuator.

굽힘 하중하의 고장력강 용접 연결부의 피로 평가 (Fatigue Assessment of High Strength Steel Welded Joints Under Bending Loading)

  • 본 연구에서는 자동차 서스펜션 구조에 일반적으로 사용되는 용접부 형상에 대하여 굽힘 하중에 의한 피로수명을 예측할 수 있는 절차를 개발하였다. 이종 재료로 이루어진 실제 제품 용접 연결부의 피로수명 예측을 위해, 복잡한 형상의 제품을 단순화한 용접 시편을 설계하고 이에 대한 굽힘 피로 시험을 진행한 후 모멘트-피로수명(M-N) 선도를 제시하였다. 응력 집중에 의한 영향을 분석하기 위해 시편의 형상을 모델링 한 후 정적 하중에 대한 유한요소해석을 수행하여 균열 발생부의 응력을 구하고 응력-피로수명(S-N) 선도를 제시하였다. 유한요소해석을 통해 구한 응력과 이론 계산을 통해 구해준 응력을 이용하여 응력집중계수를 계산하였고, 응력집중부의 피로평가 방법 개선을 위해 보편적으로 사용되는 피로노치계수 평가법과 굽힘 피로 시험 결과를 비교 검토하였다. 그 결과, 이종 재질 용접 연결부의 정확한 피로 수명평가를 위해서는 기하형상을 고려한 피로노치계수 평가 분석뿐만 아니라 두 소재의 맞대기 용접 시편에 대한 피로 시험을 수행해 주어야 할 것으로 판단된다.

비선형 이동 경화모델을 이용한 십자형 필릿 용접부의 변형율 해석 (Notch Strain Analysis of Cruciform Welded Joint using Nonlinear Kinematic Hardening Model)

  • Several fatigue damages have recently been reported which cannot be resolved in the context of the existing fatigue design procedure, and they are suspected to be the cracks induced by the low cycle fatigue mechanism. To tackle the problem, a series of material tests together with fatigue tests have been carried out, and elasto-plastic notch strain analysis using nonlinear kinematic hardening model has been performed. The cyclic stress-strain curves are obtained and the nonlinear kinematic hardening model was calibrated based on the obtained material data. Also, the fatigue test with non-load-carrying cruciform fillet welded joint has been performed in low cycle fatigue regime. Then, the notch strain analyses have been carried out to find the precise elasto-plastic behavior of the material at the notch root of the cruciform joint. The variation of the material property from the base metal via HAZ up to the weld metal was taken into account using spatial variation of the material property. Then the detail elasto-plastic behavior of the welded joint subjected to the repeated cyclic loading has been investigated further through the comparison with the prediction with Neuber's rule. The calibration of the nonlinear kinematic hardening model and nonlinear notch strain analyses have been performed using the commercial FE program ABAQUS.

노치부의 피로균열발생 수명 비교 (The comparison of the fatigue crack initiation life in a notch)

  • For the life evaluating of notched members, it is the best way that performing the real fatigue test of structure containing notch. But this method required generally much times and costs to evaluate fatigue life. So, generally we use the modified S-N curve or several methods to predict fatigue life. In this study, crack initiation life was evaluated by fatigue testing the SAE keyhole specimen and smooth specimen made of Al 7075-T6 alloys using the constant load then obtained S-N curve of smooth specimen and P-N curve of SAE keyhole specimen. And, fatigue lives of keyhole specimen are predicted using some life prediction methods (Nominal range I method, Nominal range II method, FEM analysis) for investigating experimented results, and that were compared with experimental data. Predicted fatigue lives by FEM analysis were corresponded with experimental data between 1/3times and 3times on the whole, and predicted fatigue lives using modified S-N curve (Nominal range I method, Nominal range II method) were nonconservative compared with that of FEM analysis.

세브론노치 세라믹시편을 이용한 동적파괴인성측정 (Measurement of Dynamic Fracture Toughness Using Chevron Notched Ceramic Specimen)

  • A dynamic fracture toughness test method with a chevron notched ceramic specimens is proposed. The notch angles of the chevron specimens were 90, 100$^{\circ}$and 110$^{\circ}$. Finite element analysis(FEA) were done to determine the geometrical properties of chevron-notch specimens according to notch angles. The static fracture toughness of the chevron notched alumina specimen was 3.8MP$\alpha$√m similar to that of the general fracture specimen with a precrack. Dynamic fracture toughness was 4.5 MP$\alpha$√m slightly higher than the static one. These research showed the possibility of the split Hopkinson pressure bar test method using the newly proposed chevron notched specimens to get the dynamic fracture toughness of extremely brittle materials such as ceramics.

  • Thermal spray coating is formed by a process in which melted particles flying with high speed towards substrate, then crash and spread on the substrate surface cooled and solidified in a very short time, Stacking of the particles makes coating. In this study, the exfoliation of $Al_2$O$_3$ and Ni-4.5wt.%Al thermally sprayed coating which were deposited by an atmospheric plasma spray apparatus are investigated using an AE method. A tensile test is conducted on notch specimens in a stress range below the elastic limit of substrate. The wave forms of AE generated from the three coating specimens can be classified by FFT analysis into two types which low frequency(type I waveform is considered to corresponds exfoliation of coating layers and type II waveform corresponds the plastic deformation of notch tip or the resultant fracture of coating. The fracture of the coating layers can estimate by AE event and amplitude, because AE features increase when the deformation generates.

  • Direct nonlinear finite element analysis was carried out using nonlinear kinematic hardening model which was calibrated based on the experimentally determined material properties to obtain notch stress-strain state under cyclic load. By comparing numerical results and experimental data, conclusion was made on how well analysis results match physical phenomenon. Also, suggestion was made on what material curve should be used in conjunction with traditional Neuber/Glinka's rule to take into account the effect of material heterogeneity in its application to welded joint.
