딤플형 EGR 냉각기의 설계 및 성능평가 (Design and Performance Evaluation of Dimpled EGR Cooler)

  • 본 논문은 자동차 디젤엔진의 EGR 시스템에 사용되는 EGR 냉각기의 열교환 효율에 관한 것으로 배기가스의 냉각수 사이의 열교환을 촉진시키기 위한 방법으로 딤플형 EGR 냉각기를 설계 및 그 성능을 평가하였다. 개발초기 단계에서 딤플형 EGR 냉각기의 성능을 평가하기 위하여 기존 스파이럴 타입의 EGR 냉각기와 딤플형 EGR 냉각기의 전열면적을 비교하였으며, 균질화 기법을 이용한 유한요소해석을 통하여 딤플형 EGR 냉각기의 구조 건전성을 평가하였다. 또한, 딤플형 열교환 튜브의 생산공정-딤플성형, edge bending, center v-notch bending, 압착, 플라즈마 용접-을 체계화하였다. 최종적으로 본 연구를 통하여 딤플형 EGR 냉각기를 개발하였으며, 그 성능을 검증하였다.

400MPa급 건축구조용 열간압연 H형강(SHN400)의 소재 특성 (Material Properties of 400MPa Grade Hot Rolled H-beam(SHN400) for Building Structure)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 시험적 방법을 통해 SHN400 강재의 소재 특성이 건축구조용 강재로 적합한지를 평가하는 것이다. 이를 위해 국내에서 생산되는 열간 압연 H형강 중 최대 춤 및 최대 플랜지 두께의 H형강과 SHN400 강종의 주요 사용처가 될 보부재로 수요가 많은 H형강 규격을 대상으로 화학성분 평가, 인장강도, 매크로, 미크로 및 샤르피 충격 시험을 실시하였다. 각 시험은 관련 KS 규격에서 요구하는 시험 조건하에서 수행되었으며, 시험 결과 화학성분 및 기계적 특성과 관련된 모든 시험에서 SHN400 강종은 KS 규격(KS D 3866)의 요구 조건과 내진설계시 강재에 요구되는 조건들을 만족하는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 용접성과 관련된 탄소당량(Ceq)과 비탄성 변형능력과 관련된 항복비의 경우 KS 규격을 상회하는 결과를 나타내었다. 따라서 SHN400 강재는 소재 특성 측면에서 건축구조용 강재에 적합한 것으로 판단된다.

Reconstruction and Exploratory Analysis of mTORC1 Signaling Pathway and Its Applications to Various Diseases Using Network-Based Approach

  • Mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) is a serine-threonine kinase member of the cellular phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) pathway, which is involved in multiple biological functions by transcriptional and translational control. mTOR is a downstream mediator in the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway and plays a critical role in cell survival. In cancer, this pathway can be activated by membrane receptors, including the HER (or ErbB) family of growth factor receptors, the insulin-like growth factor receptor, and the estrogen receptor. In the present work, we congregated an electronic network of mTORC1 built on an assembly of data using natural language processing, consisting of 470 edges (activations/interactions and/or inhibitions) and 206 nodes representing genes/proteins, using the Cytoscape 3.6.0 editor and its plugins for analysis. The experimental design included the extraction of gene expression data related to five distinct types of cancers, namely, pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, hepatic cirrhosis, cervical cancer, glioblastoma, and anaplastic thyroid cancer from Gene Expression Omnibus (NCBI GEO) followed by pre-processing and normalization of the data using R & Bioconductor. ExprEssence plugin was used for network condensation to identify differentially expressed genes across the gene expression samples. Gene Ontology (GO) analysis was performed to find out the over-represented GO terms in the network. In addition, pathway enrichment and functional module analysis of the protein-protein interaction (PPI) network were also conducted. Our results indicated NOTCH1, NOTCH3, FLCN, SOD1, SOD2, NF1, and TLR4 as upregulated proteins in different cancer types highlighting their role in cancer progression. The MCODE analysis identified gene clusters for each cancer type with MYC, PCNA, PARP1, IDH1, FGF10, PTEN, and CCND1 as hub genes with high connectivity. MYC for cervical cancer, IDH1 for hepatic cirrhosis, MGMT for glioblastoma and CCND1 for anaplastic thyroid cancer were identified as genes with prognostic importance using survival analysis.

탐색기용 AESA 안테나 성능 고도화 연구 (A Study on AESA Antenna Performance Advancement for Seeker)

  • 본 논문에서는 미사일의 눈 역할을 하는 탐색기에 적용할 수 있는 AESA 안테나의 성능 고도화 연구를 진행하고 실제 측정을 통해 안테나 성능을 검증하였다. AESA 안테나 설계 시에는 필연적으로 발생하는 복사소자 간의 상호간섭 영향으로 송신 시 능동반사계수의 최적화를 고려해야하며, 탐색기의 공간 제한을 극복할 수 있는 소형/경량화가 적용된 복사소자의 선정이 중요한 설계 고려 사항이다. 이에 탐색기용 AESA 구조에 적용하기 위한 배열안테나 연구를 통해 전기적 성능 및 Low-profile 구조 측면에서 최적화가 필요하다. 본 논문에서 설계하고 측정한 복사소자는 일반적인 비발디 안테나의 성능을 고도화시키면서 Low-profile 구조를 만족할 수 있는 Step Flared Notch(SFN)를 설계하였다. 본 논문을 통해 SFN은 일반적인 비발디 안테나와 동일하게 광대역 특성을 가지며 AESA 안테나에 필요한 특성들이 최적화 된 특성을 보유함을 확인 할 수 있었다. 시뮬레이션을 통해 최적화 된 구조는 실제 프로토타입 안테나 제작을 통해 패턴 특성과 능동반사계수 특성을 확인하였다.

디스플레이 기기용 강화유리 절단기의 안정화 설계 (Stability Design of a Laser Cutter for the Strengthened Glass)

  • Strengthened glass is widely used in the display industry for the smart phone and the tablet PC's, the market of which shows steady growth. The strengthened glass is prone to the fracture due to the machined surface defects such as crack and notch. The surface defects are caused mostly by the vibrations of the laser cutter. In this study, the vibrations of the laser cutter were investigated through the frequency response experiment and the computer simulation. The main reasons of the structural vibrations were analyzed, and further the design alterations were deduced and applied to the machine to check the effects of those alterations and to eventually improve the structural stability. The result shows that simple design modifications without major structural change can substantially suppress the vibrations, and improve the quality of the machined surface.

  • The market of programmable implantable pumps has bound to a monopolistic situation, inducing high device costs, thus making them inaccessible to most patients. Micro-mechanical and medical innovations allow improved performances by reducing the dimensions. This affects the consumption and weight, and, by reducing the number of parts, the cost is also affected. This paper presents the procedure followed to design an innovative implantable drug delivery system. This drug delivery system consists of a low flow pump which shall be implanted in the human body to relieve pain. In comparison to classical known solutions, this pump presents many advantages of high interest in both medical and mechanical terms. The first section of the article describes the specifications which would characterize a perfect delivery system from every points of view. This concerns shape, medication, flow, autonomy, biocompatibility, security and sterilization ability. Afterwards, an overview of existing systems is proposed in a decisional tree. Positive displacement motorized pumps are classified into three main groups: the continuous movement group, the fractioned translation group and the alternative movement group. These systems are described and the different problems which are specific to these mechanisms are presented. Since none of them fully satisfy the specifications, an innovation is justified.. The decisional tree is therefore extended by adding new principles: fractioned refilling and fractioned injection within the fractioned translation movement group, spider guiding system within the alternative translation movement group, rotational bearing guided device and notch hinge guided device in the alternative rotation movement group.

Assessment of titanium alloy bolts for structural applications

  • This paper explored the viability of utilising titanium alloy bolts in the construction industry through an experimental programme, where a total of sixty-six titanium alloy (Ti/6Al/4V) bolts were tested under axial tension, pure shear and combined tension and shear. In addition, a series of Charpy V-notch specimens machined from titanium alloy bolts, conventional high-strength steel bolts, austenitic and duplex stainless steel bolts were tested for impact toughness comparisons. The obtained experimental results demonstrated that the axial tensile and pure shear capacities of titanium alloy bolts can be reasonably estimated by the current design standards for steel structures (Eurocode 3, AS 4100 and AISC 360). However, under the combined tension and shear loading conditions, significant underestimation by Eurocode 3 and unsafe predictions through AS 4100 and AISC 360 indicate that proper modifications are necessary to facilitate the safe and economic use of titanium alloy bolts. In addition, numerical models were developed to calibrate the fracture parameters of the tested titanium alloy bolts. Furthermore, a design-based selection process of titanium alloy bolts in the structural applications was proposed, in which the ultimate strength, ductility performance and corrosion resistance (including galvanic corrosion) of titanium alloy bolts was mainly considered.

GTN 모델을 이용한 X80 라인파이프의 인장 변형성능 해석 (Numerical Assessment of Tensile Strain Capacity for X80 Line Pipe Using GTN Model)

  • 본 연구는 변형률 기반 설계를 위해 개발된 X80 라인파이프의 인장 변형성능을 검증하기 위해 금속의 비선형 거동을 해석할 수 있는 대표적 경험적인 모델인 GTN (Gurson-Tvergaard-Needleman) 모델을 이용한 비선형 유한요소 해석기법을 제시한다. GTN 모델은 재하과정중 금속 내부에서 발생하는 공극의 생성, 성장, 합체에 대한 모델링을 통해 재료의 손상거동을 묘사하는데, 본 연구에서는 GTN 모델에 대한 사용자 정의 재료모델을 작성하고 상용 유한요소해석 프로그램인 ABAQUS에 연동시켜 강재의 비선형 손상거동을 해석하였다. 비선형 손상해석을 위한 모재와 용접용 재료의 재료상수는 원형봉과 전두께 시편에 대한 인장시험 결과를 수치모사하여 결정하였으며, 결정된 재료상수를 이용하여 SENT (Single Edge Notch Tension) 시험과 CWPT (Curved Wide Plate Test)를 수치모사하였다. 수치해석 결과로부터 인장 변형성능을 산정하고 이를 시험결과 및 기존의 경험공식과 비교한 결과 본 연구에서 개발한 수치기법이 X80 라인파이프 부재의 인장 변형성능을 신뢰도 높게 평가하는 것을 확인하였으며, 결과적으로 변형률 기반 설계에 효과적으로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

가변 특성을 갖는 디지털 TV 휘도신호 처리용 디지털 필터 설계 (Design of a digital filter with variable characteristics for a luminance signal processing of digirtal TV)

  • This paper presents a composite luminance signal processing system for NTSC, PAL and SECAM standards. Eaxh of the three standards employs its own specifications of subcarmier bandwidth and luminance signal waveform. The proposed system, compatible to the specifications of the three standard and B/W TV, implements variable freqneucy characteristics by controlling filter coefficients. The major features of the system are a luminance/chroma separation unit and an aperture compensation unit. The luminance/chroma separation unit employes a notch filter selection a trap freqneyc to atenuate unwanted color signals in luminance signal bands. The aperture compensation unit comprises two subunits, to provide clear color definition for each of the three standards: a primary compensation circuit and a variable compensation circuits. The proposed system yields a 40 dB gain from the chroma/luminance separation and a 10 dB gain from the aperture compensation unit.

  • Dynamic pressure is one of the major sources on noise emission in hydraulic axial piston pump. This paper reports an experimental study of dynamic pressure characteristics in the cylinder port of hydraulic axial piston pump. We investigated dynamic pressure with not only the effect of delivery pressure, rotational speed and temperature but also V-notches at the ends of the kidney ports in the valve plate. We experimented three valve plates with three type V-notches at the ends of the kidney ports, because V-notches of the valve plate is known of noise reduction. Finally, we hope this paper help to design of the valve plate in hydraulic axial piston pump.
