  • In this paper, a new watermarking method using an iterative scheme is proposed. The proposed method consists of two parts: watermark generation and its insertion. In the watermark generation, random signals with normalized distribution N(0,1) are produced and modified using an iterative scheme. In the watermark insertion, the resulting watermark signals are inserted into selected transform coefficients with various scaling parameters in order to achieve the invisibility and robustness against illegal attacks. The simulation results show that the proposed method has good performance for various attacks including image compression, filtering, etc.

  • In this study a new generalization for operators of two parameters type of fractional in the unit disk is proposed. The fractional operators in this generalization are in the Srivastava-Owa sense. Concerning with the related applications, the generalized Gauss hypergeometric function is introduced. Further, some boundedness properties on Bloch space are also discussed.

  • In this study, a non-stationary random earthquake Clough-Penzien model is used to describe earthquake ground motion. Using stochastic direct integration in combination with an equivalent linear method, a solution is established to describe the non-stationary response of lead-rubber bearing (LRB) system to a stochastic earthquake. Two parameters are used to develop an optimization method for bearing design: the post-yielding stiffness and the normalized yield strength of the isolation bearing. Using the minimization of the maximum energy response level of the upper structure subjected to an earthquake as an objective function, and with the constraints that the bearing failure probability is no more than 5% and the second shape factor of the bearing is less than 5, a calculation method for the two optimal design parameters is presented. In this optimization process, the radial basis function (RBF) response surface was applied, instead of the implicit objective function and constraints, and a sequential quadratic programming (SQP) algorithm was used to solve the optimization problems. By considering the uncertainties of the structural parameters and seismic ground motion input parameters for the optimization of the bearing design, convex set models (such as the interval model and ellipsoidal model) are used to describe the uncertainty parameters. Subsequently, the optimal bearing design parameters were expanded at their median values into first-order Taylor series expansions, and then, the Lagrange multipliers method was used to determine the upper and lower boundaries of the parameters. Moreover, using a calculation example, the impacts of site soil parameters, such as input peak ground acceleration, bearing diameter and rubber shore hardness on the optimization parameters, are investigated.

  • In order to estimate parameter uncertainty of hydrological models, the consideration of the likelihood functions which provide reliable parameters of model is necessary. In this study, the Bayesian Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method with informal likelihood functions is used to analyze the uncertainty of parameters of the SURR model for estimating the hourly streamflow of Gunnam station of Imjin basin, Korea. Three events were used to calibrate and one event was used to validate the posterior distributions of parameters. Moreover, the performance of four informal likelihood functions (Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency, Normalized absolute error, Index of agreement, and Chiew-McMahon efficiency) on uncertainty of parameter is assessed. The indicators used to assess the uncertainty of the streamflow simulation were P-factor (percentage of observed streamflow included in the uncertainty interval) and R-factor (the average width of the uncertainty interval). The results showed that the sensitivities of parameters strongly depend on the likelihood functions and vary for different likelihood functions. The uncertainty bounds illustrated the slight differences from various likelihood functions. This study confirms the importance of the likelihood function selection in the application of Bayesian MCMC to the uncertainty assessment of the SURR model.

  • Modern seismic codes rely on performance-based seismic design methodology which requires that the structures withstand inelastic deformation. Many studies have focused on the inelastic deformation ratio evaluation (ratio between the inelastic and elastic maximum lateral displacement demands) for various inelastic spectra. This paper investigates the inelastic response spectra through the ductility demand ${\mu}$, the yield strength reduction factor $R_y$, and the inelastic deformation ratio. They depend on the vibration period T, the post-to-preyield stiffness ratio ${\alpha}$, the peak ground acceleration (PGA), and the normalized yield strength coefficient ${\eta}$ (ratio of yield strength coefficient divided by the PGA). A new inelastic deformation ratio $C_{\eta}$ is defined; it is related to the capacity curve (pushover curve) through the coefficient (${\eta}$) and the ratio (${\alpha}$) that are used as control parameters. A set of 140 real ground motions is selected. The structures are bilinear inelastic single degree of freedom systems (SDOF). The sensitivity of the resulting inelastic deformation ratio mean values is discussed for different levels of normalized yield strength coefficient. The influence of vibration period T, post-to-preyield stiffness ratio ${\alpha}$, normalized yield strength coefficient ${\eta}$, earthquake magnitude, ruptures distance (i.e., to fault rupture) and site conditions is also investigated. A regression analysis leads to simplified expressions of this inelastic deformation ratio. These simplified equations estimate the inelastic deformation ratio for structures, which is a key parameter for design or evaluation. The results show that, for a given level of normalized yield strength coefficient, these inelastic displacement ratios become non sensitive to none of the rupture distance, the earthquake magnitude or the site class. Furthermore, they show that the post-to-preyield stiffness has a negligible effect on the inelastic deformation ratio if the normalized yield strength coefficient is greater than unity.

  • A method of design optimization for minimization of force ripple and maximization of thrust force in a linear brushless permanent magnet motor without finite element analysis is represented. The design optimization method calculated the driving force in the function of electric and geometric parameters of a linear brushless PM motor using the sequential quadratic programming method. Using electric and geometric parameters obtained by this method, the normalized force ripple is reduced 7.7% (9.7% to 2.0%) and the thrust force is increased 12.88N (111.55N to 124.43N) compared to those not using design optimization.

  • An indentation method to determine equi-biaxial residual stress is proposed by examining the data from the incremental plasticity theory based finite element analyses. We first select optimal normalized-parameters, which are minimally affected by indentation depth and material properties. Numerical linear regressions of obtained data exhibit that maximum load and contact area of imprint are the main parameters measuring the residual stress. The proposed indentation approach provides a substantial enhancement in accuracy compared with the prior methods.

  • This paper describes the instantaneous current resultant type load parallel high frequency resonant inverter consisting of three unit half-bridge serial and parallel resonant inverter can be used as power source of induction heating. This proposed inverter can reduce distribution of the switching current because of using the current of serial resonant circuit to the input current of the parallel one. The analysis of the proposed circuit is generally described by using the normalized parameters. Also, the principle of basic operating and the its characteristics are estimated by the parameters such as switching frequency($\mu$), load resistance(λ). Experimental results are presented to verify theoretical discussion. This proposed inverter will can be practically used as a power supply in various fields as induction heating application, DC-DC converter etc.
