The Effects of Specific and Nonspecific Information on Decision Making During Situation Awareness: ERP Study (상황인식 시 구체 및 비구체적 정보가 의사결정에 미치는 영향: ERP 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of nonspecific and specific cue on decision making during situation awareness. Participants were 36 male college students who were randomly assigned to one of three groups: (1) nonspecific situation awareness, (2) specific situation awareness, and (3) a control group. Every participant was in the level 3-4.5 according to American National Tennis Level Program. Participants were asked to watch tennis single defence, single offence, double defence rally and when the screen stops, they were required to push the button(left, middle, or right) appropriate for the ball's direction to return as soon as possible. The experiment was designed to be analyzed for group(3)${\times}$condition(3)${\times}$area(7) using three-way ANOVA. The dependent variables were reaction time, accuracy rate, and amplitude and latency of P300. The result showed that the latency of the nonspecific situation awareness group and the specific situation awareness group was shorter and their amplitudes were higher than the control group. Fz, Cz, Pz were prominent among areas, and the single defence condition was more prominent than the single offence and the double defence condition. As a result of the study, it can be suggested that the information about situation awareness provided beforehand directly affects the brain's information processing. In addition, it shows that ERP can be a useful index for studying situation awareness.

A Case of Nonspecific Interstitial Pneumonia Associated with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (전신성 홍반성 낭창에 병발된 비특이성 간질성 폐렴 1예)

  • Systemic lupus erythematosus frequently has thoracic involvement among connective tissue diseases. One of the pleuropulmonary manifestations is diffuse interstitial lung disease including nonspecific interstitial pneumonia(NSIP). NSIP is a newly classified disease among interstitial lung diseases. Systemic lupus erythematosus has a better prognosis than usual interstitial peumonia(UIP) and responds well to steroids. In this report, a 34 year-old woman who complained of a dry cough, and exertional dyspnea for 2 months is described. The chest X-ray showed fine reticular opacities and a mild honeycomb appearance in both basal lungs. High resolution computed tomography(HRCT) showed bilateral patchy areas of ground-glass attenuation and a mild honeycomb appearance in the subpleural of both the lower and the middle portion of the lung fields. An open lung biopsy showed prominent lymphocytic interstitial inflammation and fibrosis with small areas with a honeycomb appearance. This case was diagnosed as NSIP associated with systemic lupus erythematosus and was managed with oral steroids. Here we report a case of nonspecific interstitial pneumonia associated with systemic lupus erythematosus confirmed by HRCT and an open lung biopsy with a review of the relevant literature.

Citizen Sentiment Analysis of the Social Disaster by Using Opinion Mining (오피니언 마이닝 기법을 이용한 사회적 재난의 시민 감성도 분석)

  • Recently, disaster caused by social factors is frequently occurring in Korea. Prediction about what crisis could happen is difficult, raising the citizen's concern. In this study, we developed a program to acquire tweet data by applying Python language based Tweepy plug-in, regarding social disasters such as 'Nonspecific motive crimes' and 'Oxy' products. These data were used to evaluate psychological trauma and anxiety of citizens through the text clustering analysis and the opinion mining analysis of the R Studio program after natural language processing. In the analysis of the 'Oxy' case, the accident of Sewol ferry, the continual sale of Oxy products of the Oxy had the highest similarity and 'Nonspecific motive crimes', the coping measures of the government against unexpected incidents such as the 'incident' of the screen door, the accident of Sewol ferry and 'Nonspecific motive crime' due to misogyny in Busan, had the highest similarity. In addition, the average index of the Citizens sentiment score in Nonspecific motive crimes was more negative than that in the Oxy case by 11.61%p. Therefore, it is expected that the findings will be utilized to predict the mental health of citizens to prevent future accidents.

Global analysis of Aseptic Meningitis in Pusan Area in 1997 (1997년에 부산지역에서 유행한 무균성 뇌막염)

  • Purpose : In the summer 1997, there was an outbreak of aseptic meningitis in Pusan area. We report the clinical features and viral studies of aseptic meningitis in Pusan area in 1997. Methods : 265 children with aseptic meningitis who had been admitted to Department of Pediatrics, St. Benedict Hospital between April to October 1997 were included. Results : 1) Male-to-female ratio was 1.7:1. 2) Mean age was $6.2{\pm}3.29$ years. 3) It occured mostly April to October. 4) Clinical manifestations were fever 99.6%, vomiting 99.2%, headache 99.2%, rash 6.0%. 5) The duration of fever was $3.34{\pm}2.21$ days. 6) The duration of admission was $5.3{\pm}3.21$ days. 7) WBC count in peripheral blood were $11,200{\pm}4,163/mm^3$. 8) WBC count in CSF were $156.1{\pm}394.7/mm^3$. 9) Causative agents were coxsackievirus B5, echovius 6, 30, type nonspecific enterovirus. Conclusion : Aseptic meningitis in 1997 compared with that in 1996 had clinical feature of increase in age, decrease in duration of fever and incidende of rash. It occurred mostly April to October in 1997 and May to October in 1996. Causative agents were coxackievirus B5, echovirus 6, 30, type nonespecific enterovirus in 1997, and echovirus 9, coxsackievirus A24, type nonespecific enterovirus in 1996.

The Role of Specific IgG in Phagocytosis of Actinobacillus(Haemophilus) Actinomycetemcomitans Y4 by Human Neutrophils (다형핵 백혈구의 Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans Y4 균주 탐식시 특이항체의 역할)

  • Previous studies have demonstrated that phagocytosis of encapsulated bacteria needs the opsonization of bacteria with immunoglobulin and complement. Several investigators have studied the role of specific antibody to the bacteria. The purpose of this study is to investigate the role of specific anti-Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans Y4($A{\alpha}Y4$) antibody, which was obtained from the immunized rabbit serum for phagocytosis of $A{\alpha}Y4$ by PMNL. For this study, specific and nonspecific IgG were separated from the sera of the rabbits and PMNL were isolated from 15 healthy adults. By an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, the results showed that the binding capacity of anti-$A{\alpha}Y4$ IgG to $A{\alpha}Y4$ was much higher than that of nonspecific IgG; 0.75 and 0.14(O.D. at 400nm), respectively. The oxygen consumption of PMNL, phagocytizing $A{\alpha}Y4$ which was opsonized with specific $A{\alpha}Y4$ IgG(37.13 nmol/min/$1{\times}10^7$ PMNL), was significantly higher than that with nonspecific IgG(27.95 nmol/min/$1{\times}10^7$ PMNL, p<0.01). In immunofluorescence microscopic examination, the difference between the numbers of the ingested $A{\alpha}Y4$ opsonized with specific anti-$A{\alpha}Y4$ IgG and nonspecific IgG reached to statistically significant level; $184{\pm}11.4$ and $133.2{\pm}8.3$ per 100 PMNL, p<0.05. These results suggest that specific anti-$A{\alpha}Y4$ IgG has a significant role in PMNL phagocytosis of encapsulated $A{\alpha}Y4$ and also it can be available to adopt this system to develop anti-capsular antibody to $A{\alpha}Y4$ for enhancing and emphasizing the phagocytic activity against this bacterium.

Facile Cell Patterning Based on Selectively Patterned Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and Polyelectrolyte Surface (PDMS와 고분자 전해질 표면을 이용한 간편한 세포 패터닝 방법)

  • This study presented facile method of cell patterning using fabricated PDMS patterns on polyelectrolyte coated surface. This basic principle is the fabrication of functional surface presenting two orthogonal surfaces such as cell adhesive and repellent properties. Cell adhesive surface was firstly fabricated with simple coating of polyelectrolyte multilayer. And then, the desired patterns of PDMS for the prevention of nonspecific binding of cells were transferred onto the previously formed thin film of polyelectrolyte multilayer. Thus, we could prepare novel functional surface simultaneously containing PDMS and polyelectrolyte region. As expected, the PDMS regions showed effective prevention of nonspecific binding of cell and the other region, exposed polyelectrolyte area, provided cell adhesive environment. The height of formed PDMS structure was about 100 nm. Based on this method, cell patterning can be successfully obtained with various pattern shapes and sizes. Therefore, we expect that this simple method will be useful platform technology for the development of cell chip, cell based assay system, and biochip.

Mutagenicity Studies on Nonspecific Immunostimulator BARODON® (비특이 면역증강제 BARODON®에 대한 유전독성시험)

  • A nonspecific immunostimulator $BARODON^{\circledR}$ was tested for mutagenicity using Ames Salmonella tester strains TA98, TA1 00, TA 102, TA 1535 and TA 1537 with or without metabolic activation (59 mix). None of the fresh species showed mutagenicity. In the reverse mutation test using Salmonella phimurium TA98, TA100, TA102, TA1535 and TA1537 did not increase the number of revertants at all doses tested (5, 2.5 or 1.25 mg/ml). Chromosome aberration test was carried out in Chinese hamster lung (CHL) cell line. The cells were treated with $BARODON^{\circledR}$ (1, 0.5 or 0.25 mg/ml), while positive control group was treated with Mitomycin C (0.1 mg/ml). The results show that there is no statistically significant difference between positive control and treatment groups. In mouse micronucleus test, there was significant increase in the ratio of micronucleated polychromatic erythrocyte (MNPCE) in the high dose group (10% $BARODON^{\circledR}$), while there is no significance between control and low (2.5% $BARODON^{\circledR}$) or middle (5% $BARODON^{\circledR}$ dose groups. Taken together, this results suggest that below 5% $BARODON^{\circledR}$ might not have mutagenic potential in vitro and vivo systems.

Chronic Back Pain Proven to Be Spinal Tuberculosis -A report of 2 cases- (결핵성 척추염으로 판명된 만성 등 통증 -증례보고-)

  • The progression of spinal tuberculosis is usually slow and insidious, and its main symptom, backache, is nonspecific. Considerable delay in diagnosis may occur before an infectious process is considered. Even when a diagnosis of spinal tuberculosis is considered, it may be difficult to confirm. Radiological findings indicative of tuberculosis are involvement of the vertebral bodies on either side of the disc, subligamentous spread, abscess formation and collection and expansion of granulation tissue adjacent to the vertebral body, relative sparing of the disc space and calcification within a paravertebral abscess. We report two patients with spinal tuberculosis who had nonspecific backache and received a delayed diagnosis for several months or years.
