Approximating bottled water consumption distribution is complicated by zero observations in the sample. To deal with the zero observations, a mixture model of bottled water consumption distributions is proposed and applied to allow a point mass at zero. The bottled water consumption distribution is specified as a mixture of two distributions, one with a point mass at zero and the other with full support on the positive half of the real line. The model is empirically verified for household bottled water consumption survey data. The mixture model can easily capture the common bimodality feature of the bottled water consumption distribution. In addition, when covariates were added to the model, it was found that the probability that a household has non-consumption significantly varies with some variables.
In this study, polyethylene glycol (PEG) and polyacrylamide (PAM) have been used as self-curing agents to produce self-curing concrete (SC). Compressive strength, ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV), bulk electrical resistivity, chloride ion penetrability, water permeability, and main microstructural characteristics were examined under different curing regimes, and compared to those of the control concrete mixture with no self-curing agents. One batch of a control mixture and one batch of a SC mixture were air-cured in the lab to act as non-water-cured samples. The water curing regimes for the control mixture included continuous water curing for 3, 7, and 28 days and periodical moist curing using wetted burlap for 3 and 7 days. Curing regimes for the SC mixtures included 3 days of water curing and periodical moist curing for 3 and 7 days. SC mixtures showed better microstructure development and durability performance than those of the air-cured control mixture. A short water curing period of 3 days significantly improved the performance of the SC mixtures similar to that of the control mixture that was water cured for 28 days. SC concrete represents a step towards sustainable construction due to its lower water demand needed for curing and hence can preserve the limited water resources in many parts of the world.
The world's overall need for natural gas (NG) has been growing up fast, especially in the residential sector. The better the estimation of residential NG consumption (RNGC) distribution, the better decision-making for a residential NG policy such as pricing, demand estimation, management options and so on. Approximating the distribution of RNGC is complicated by zero observations in the sample. To deal with the zero observations by allowing a point mass at zero, a mixture model of RNGC distributions is proposed and applied. The RNGC distribution is specified as a mixture of two distributions, one with a point mass at zero and the other with full support on the positive half of the real line. The model is empirically verified for household RNGC survey data collected in Korea. The mixture model can easily capture the common bimodality feature of the RNGC distribution. In addition, when covariates were added to the model, it was found that the probability that a household has non-expenditure significantly varies with some variables. Finally, the goodness-of-fit test suggests that the data are well represented by the mixture model.
In this paper, a series of repeated load tests were carried out on a 150 mm diameter plate simulative of vehicle passes, to demonstrate the benefits of soil-rubber shred mixture in decreasing the soil surface settlement of road embankment. The results show that the efficiency of rubber reinforcement is significantly a function of the rubber content, thickness of rubber-soil mixture and soil cap thickness over the mixture. Minimum surface settlement is provided by 2.5% of rubber in rubber-soil mixture, the thickness of mixture layer and soil cap of 0.5 times the loading surface diameter, giving values of 0.32-0.68 times those obtained in the unreinforced system for low and high values of amplitude of repeated load. In this installation, in contrast with unreinforced bed that shows unstable response, the rate of enhancement in settlement decreases significantly as the number of loading cycles increase and system behaves resiliently without undergoing plastic deformation. The findings encourage the use of rubber shreds obtained from non-reusable tires as a viable material in road works.
Here, we report a novel fabrication technique for patchable organic lasing sheet based on non-volatile liquid organic semiconductors and freestanding polymeric film with high flexibility and patchability. For this work, we have fabricated the second-order DFB grating structure, which leads to surface emission, embedded in the freestanding polymeric film. Using an ultra-violet (UV) curable polyurethaneacrylate (PUA) mixture, the periodic DFB grating structure can be easily prepared on the freestanding polymeric film via a simple UV curing process. Due to unsaturated acrylate remained in the PUA mixture after UV curing, the freestanding PUA film provides adhesive properties, which enable mounting of the patchable organic lasing sheet onto non-flat surfaces with conformal contact. To achieve laser actions in the freestanding resonator structure, a composite material of liquid 9-(2-ethylhexyl)carbazole (EHCz) and organic laser dyes was used as the laser medium. Since the degraded active materials can be easily refreshed by a simple injection of the liquid composite, such a non-volatile liquid organic semiconducting medium has degradation-free and recyclable characteristics in addition to other strong advantages including tunable optoelectronic responses, solvent-free processing, and ultimate mechanical flexibility and uniformity. Lasing properties of the patchable organic lasing sheet were also investigated after mounting onto non-flat surfaces, showing a mechanical tunability of laser emission under variable surface curvature. It is anticipated that these results will be applied to the development of various patchable optoelectronic applications for light-emitting displays, sensors and data communications.

Rheological properties of dough made from waxy barley(Iri28) flour wheat flour mixtures with additives were investigated for the preparation of waxy barley bread using farinograph, extensograph and amy lograph. The water absorption, development time and dough weakness increased as the waxy barley flour level increased in all blends; however, dough stability decreased. Farinogram properties of 10% waxy barley flour added mixture were similar to those of 100% wheat flour. The addition of A.A(ascorbic acid), gluten, HPMC(hydroxy propyl methyl cellulose) improved rheological properties of dough with 30% waxy barley flour added mixture. In particular, stability and weakness of the dough showed greater dough improving effect by addition of A.A. For the extensograph data, strength, resistance and extensibility of dough decreased with increasing level of waxy barley flour. With the addition of additives, extensogram properties were variable for 30% waxy barley flour mixture. Of these additives, gluten had highest value in strength of dough. Addition of A.A and HPMC to 30% waxy barley flour added mixture resulted in an increase in the resistance and a decrease in the extensibility. Waxy barley flour added mixtures showed little higher gelatinization temperature on amylograph data than control. Maximum viscosity reduced as the waxy barley flour level increased. Also 30% waxy barley flour added mixture containing A.A and HPMC showed a decrease in maximum viscosity. But addition of gluten to 30% waxy barley flour mixture resulted an increase in the maximum viscosity. All of 30% waxy barley flour added mixture with additives had lower gelatinization temperature than those without additives. In the SEM images, starch granules were dispersed in a protein matrix. A non continuous, loose protein starch matrix was observed in all waxy barley flour mixture by SEM. Addition of additives gave the dough a more continuous structure with interactions between the starch granule and protein component.
Korean ginseng has been used for thousands of years as an important medicinal plant. Lime-Bordeaux mixture (LBM) was made with copper sulfate and quicklime, which was sprayed instead of pesticides in ginseng field. Net photosynthesis ($P_N$) was compared between Treatment and Non-treatment of LBM in 3 Year Old Ginseng. $P_N$ in control plot recorded $2.94{\mu}mol\;(CO_2)\;m^{-2}s^{-1}$ at the first day of experiment, which was similar until the last day of experiment. However, The $P_N$ in LBM recorded $2.23{\mu}mol\;(CO_2)\;m^{-2}s^{-1}$, which was lower than that in control plot. As time goes by, The $P_N$ in LBM was gradually increased up to $3.21{\mu}mol\;(CO_2)\;m^{-2}s^{-1}$ and finally, it was similar with that in control plot at 7th day as a $3.20{\mu}mol\;(CO_2)\;m^{-2}s^{-1})$.
This study provides a new fashion design perspective that is rapidly changing and pursues a new one based on maximalism, which is a trend that expresses the sensibility of modern fashion that seeks originality and differentiation in today's fashion world. In this study, based on the domestic monographs and previous studies, the concept and formation background of maximalism are theoretically examined. We want to classify and analyze characteristics based on the analysis and collection image analysis using the internet specialist site (www.vogue.com). We also develope a fashion design that is applied to clothes after deriving typical characteristics. The study results are as follows. The criterion of Maximilian's type criterion required to escape the minimalism that pursues simplicity and simplicity is the need to express the enlargement that expresses exaggeration, decoration to express glamor, the mixture that expresses the mixture and the complexity of the heterogeneous. This then can show the characteristics of the expressed non-structure. We analyzed the formative characteristics of maximalism in modern fashion and developed five types of fashion design.
In generally, we use a method of the survey to forecast the economic demands and non-economic demands for a market trend. But we have a difficult problem to estimate the demand for the marketplace objectively because the survey with the non-response and the inadequate understanding on questionnaires did not provided the strong and uniform forecast. Here, we proposed a method compounded of survey and a statistical model to estimate the demand for the marketplace and discussed the mixture model applied to the service demand on an agency.

Micro-Macro approach is conducted for the mixture solidification to handle the closely linked phenomena of microscopic solute redistribution and macroscopic solidification behavior. For this purpose, present work combines the efficiency of mixture theory for macro part and the capability of microscopic analysis of two-phase model for micro part. The micro part of present study is verified by comparison with experiment of Al-4.9 mass% Cu alloy. The effect of back diffusion on the macroscopic variables such as temperature and liquid concentration, is appreciable. The effect, however, is considerable on the mixture concentration and eutectic fraction which are indices of macro and micro segregation, respectively. According to the diffusion time, the behavior near the cooling wall where relatively rapid solidification permits short solutal diffusion time, approaches Scheil equation limit and inner part approaches lever rule limit.
