  • Lately there has been much theoretical and applied interest in linear models with non-normal heavy tailed error distributions. Starting Zellner(1976)'s study, many authors have explored the consequences of non-normality and heavy-tailed error distributions. We consider hierarchical models including selection models under a skewed heavy-tailed e..o. distribution proposed originally by Chen, Dey and Shao(1999) and Branco and Dey(2001) with Dirichlet process prior(Ferguson, 1973) in order to use a meta-analysis. A general calss of skewed elliptical distribution is reviewed and developed. Also, we consider the detail computational scheme under skew normal and skew t distribution using MCMC method. Finally, we introduce one example from Johnson(1993)'s real data and apply our proposed methodology.

  • A chi-squared test of multivariate normality is suggested which is mainly focused on detecting deviations from elliptical symmetry. This test uses Mahalanobis distances of observations to have some power for deviations from multivariate normality. We derive the limiting distribution of the test statistic by a conditional limit theorem. A simulation study is conducted to study the accuracy of the limiting distribution in finite samples. Finally, we compare the power of our method with those of other popular tests of multivariate normality under two non-normal distributions.

  • Pearn et al.(2002) supposed the $C_{pp}$ multiple process performance analysis chart. This chart displays multiple processes with the process variation and process departure on one single chart. But, this chart can not display the distribution of the process variation and process departure and is inappropriate for processes with non-normal distributions. With bootstrapping method, we can display the distribution of the process variation and process departure on the $C_{pp}$ multiple process performance analysis chart.

  • Particle breakthrough can occur by either the breakoff of previously captured particles (or flocs) or the direct passage of some influent particles through the filter. Filtration experiments were performed in a laboratory-scale filter using spherical glass beads with a diameter of 0.55 mm as collectors. A single type of particle suspension (Min-U-Sil 5, nearly pure $SiO_2$) and three different destabilization methods (pH control, alum and polymer destabilization) were utilized. The operating conditions were similar to those of standard media filtration practice: a filtration velocity of 5 m/h. To assess the possibility of particle detachment during the normal filtration, a hydraulic shock load (20% increase of flow rate) was applied after 4 hours of normal filtration. The magnitude of particle detachment was proportional to the particle size for non-Brownian particles. At the same time, less favorable particles, i.e., particles with larger surface charge, were easily detached during the hydraulic shock load. Therefore, proper particle destabilization before filtration is crucial for maximum particle removal as well as minimum particle breakthrough.

  • In this paper, We consider some generalization of these five basic indices to cover non-normal distribution. The proposed generalizations are compared with the five basic indices. The results show that the proposed generalizations are more accurate than those basic indices and other generalization in measuring process capability. We compared an estimation methods by Clements with based on sample percentiles, WVM to calculate the proposed generalization as an example. The results indicated that Clements method is more accurate than percentile method, WVM in measuring process capability. But the calculations of percentile method are easy to understand, straightforward to apply, and show be valuable used for applications.

  • We consider the problem of model selection in multiple linear regression with outliers and non-normal error distributions. In this article, the robust model selection criterion is proposed based on the robust estimation method with the least absolute deviation (LAD). The proposed criterion is shown to be consistent. We suggest proposed criterion based algorithms that are suitable for a large number of predictors in the model. These algorithms select only relevant predictor variables with probability one for large sample sizes. An exhaustive simulation study shows that the criterion performs well. However, the proposed criterion is applied to a real data set to examine its applicability. The simulation results show the proficiency of algorithms in the presence of outliers, non-normal distribution, and multicollinearity.

  • Scaling relations of early-type galaxies (ETG) provide a deep insight into their formation and evolution. Interestingly enough, most relations extending into the dwarf regimes display non-linear or broken-linear features, unlike the linear relations for normal (i.e., intermediate-mass to giant) ETGs only. Here we investigate the mass-size scaling relation of ETGs using a massive database of galaxies from SDSS DR12. We divide ETGs into two groups by the indication of star formation such as colors, and examine their distinction along the mass-size relation. We find that the mass-size distribution of blue, young normal galaxies is in good agreement with that of dwarf ETGs. Our result suggests that blue, young normal ETGs may serve as links between (passive) normal ETGs and dwarfs. We discuss the possibility of blue, young ETGs being progenitors of dwarf ETGs.

  • In this paper, the analytic solution has been found by using truncation approach. With the help of suitable substitution, different physical parameters are yielded in their non-dimensional form. The governing boundary layer partial differential equations are reduced to a set of ordinary ones by using appropriate similarity transformations. The velocity profile across the domain have also been taken into account. The effect normal velocity profiles buoyancy parameter, slip parameter, shrinking parameter, Casson fluid parameter on the heat profile. It is found that the normal velocity profiles rise with the buoyancy parameter and for the slip parameter. It is observed that the normal velocity profile decreases with the increase of shrinking parameter. The reverse behiour is found for the Casson fluid parameter. The results are numerically computed, analyzed and discussed. For the efficiency of present model, the results are compared with earlier investigations.

  • The radial distribution systems (RDS) commonly used around the world has the following disadvantages. First, when the DL is operated on a radial system, the line utilization rate is usually kept low. Second, if a fault occurs in the radial DL, a power outage of 3 to 5 minutes is occurring depending on the operator's proficiency and fault situation until the fault section is separated and the normal section is replaced. To solve this problem, Various methods have been proposed at domestic and foreign to solve this problem, and in Korea, research is underway on the advanced system of operating multiple linked DL always. A system that is electrically linked always, and that is built to enable high-speed communication during the protection coordination is named networked distribution system (NDS). Because the load shares the DL, the line utilization rate can be improved, and even if the line faults, the normal section does not need to be cut off, so the normal section does not experience a power outage. However, since it is impossible to predict in which direction the fault current will flow when a failure occurs in the NDS, a communication-based protection coordination is used, but there is no backup protection coordination method in case of communication failure. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a protective cooperation method to apply as a backup method when communication fails in NDS. The new method is to change TCC by location of CB using voltage drop in case of fault.
