Large-Scale Culture of Hepatitis A Virus in Human Diploid MRC-5 Cells and Partial Purification of the Viral Antigen for Use as a Vaccine

  • A large-scale culture of hepatitis A virus in human diploid MRC-5 cells was conducted. In a roller bottle culture, the virus was grown to a maximum titer in 3 weeks after infection. Over 95% of the cell-associated virus was excreted after culturing the infected cells in suspension media without fetal bovine serum for 3 days. The cultured virus was inactivated with formalin, concentrated by ultrafiltration, and partially purified by ultracentrifugation in a non-ionic gradient medium of Renocal. Two separate peak fractions showing high anti-HAY ELISA titer were pooled and about 40% of HAV antigen was recovered by this purification procedure. Of the partially purified vaccine, the protein pattern in SDS-PAGE and immunogenicity in mice were compared with a commercial HAV vaccine. In SDS-PAGE, the purified vaccine in this study and the commercial vaccine showed almost the same protein pattern. The seroconversion rate of the purified vaccine in mice was not different from that of the commercial vaccine. Therefore, we could prepare a good grade of HAV vaccine by a simple purification procedure although the purification itself was not completed.

  • Today, the world is facing overflowing digital technology, floating digital contents in the air, and various perspectives on the contents, and these are called new media waves. The waves show diverse features applied in arts and interior designs. In the new media world, a process that shows what artists and designers are dreaming of, planning, and presenting is becoming important., Therefore, a purpose of this research is to understand and refine the concept of new media world, and is to study on presentations of new media art in commercial spaces. Up to present times, New media art is a metaphor in the air, which connects digital art and design. Like the modifier "NEW" contains meaning of frequent changing, new media art has various characteristics in the commercial areas. First, new media art shows lighter and various space-designs with numerous lights and colors through the evolution of interface between substances and non-substances. Second, new media art has liquidity of spaces that come with diverse communication and change though infinite possibilities of digital technology. Finally, new media arts has amusement itself based on virtual images through interactive reality extension from human experience.

공동주택의 공간별 채광실태에 관한 연구 (An Analysis of Daylighting in Each Space of Apartment Houses)

  • One of the most important factors in determining the quality of living environment is daylighting. Especially its influence in the psychological and biological life of human beings cannot be underestimated. Therefore, lots of researches have been given to develop a more efficient daylighting system. The sunlighting system, one of many developed systems, has been developed and applied in various ways. However, the high cost of sunlighting system has been the most difficult stumbling-block in making it commercial. However, as domestic apartment houses tend to be more luxury, life environment becomes a very important factor more than cost in building apartment house. Therefore, it would be possible to adopt sunlighting system in the non-window areas such as a restroom in an apartment house. This research is a preliminary work in order to measure a possibility of applying sunlighting system in an apartment house. In order to do so, I measure Sunlight Illuminance Ratio in various areas of apartment house. As a result, in case of a residential-commercial building, areas such as kitchen, restroom, and entrance are relatively weak-lighting areas. In case of a traditional apartment house, restroom and entrance are relatively weak-lighting areas. For that reason, a special lighting support is needed in these areas.

신형 수이젝터 개발을 위한 실험연구 (Experimental Study for the Development of New Type Water Ejector)

  • An ejector is a fluid transfer device to be used for mixing of fluids, maintaining vacuum, and overcoming a poor suction condition. To date, most ejectors have been made from the casting process. which is time-consuming and high-cost process. Therefore, a new production method of ejectors is desired if any. In this experimental study, we proposed a new type ejector manufactured from the commercial fitting materials and the welding process, which is equipped with an orifice type nozzle. The proposed ejector has a good integrity compared with the conventional ejector because the fittings have manufactured by forging and they have more strength than the casting materials. Furthermore we adopted a multi-opening orifice type nozzle for improving a suction capacity and compared with a single-opening orifice type nozzle. From the experimental results. we confirmed that the multi-opening nozzle had a food suction capacity than the single-opening nozzle and the proposed new type ejector showed higher vacuum than the conventional type ejector in non-load condition. These improved characteristics suggests that a new type ejector by using the commercial fittings opens the feasibility to be adopted in various industry fields and that the increased suction capacity can be achieved by altering the nozzle design of a conventional ejector.

  • Simple and accurate methods to detect the adulteration of commercial aloe gel powder were developed. Crude polysaccharide in aloe gel powder was isolated by precipitating with excess ethyl alcohol and total hexose in isolated polysaccharide was determineded by dubois assay. After hydrolysis of non-dialysable polysaccharides, resultant free sugar was determined by gas chronmatography for sugar recogniton and ash contents was very low while the content of total hexose was very high. And polysaccharides of these products revealed typical dextran pattern, therefore, these products could be identified that adulterated with commercial maltodextrin. The content of maltodextrin in adulterated product was determined by HPLC and TLC analysis which could be adopted as a part of a certification process.

The Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Earning Quality: Empirical Evidence from Commercial Banks in Saudi Arabia

  • This study aims to investigate the impact of the Corona pandemic on the earning quality (EQ) of Saudi national banks. It was conducted to evaluate the measurement of the earning quality based on the Penman approach. The researchers used the analytical method to conduct the study to find the effect of this Pandemic. Data was collected from the annual reports for the period 2010 to 2020 from Saudi national banks, which are twelve according to the annual report for the Saudi central bank, and eight of them were selected as a sample of the study. The banks are Alinma Bank, Al Rajhi Bank, Bank Al Bilad, The National Commercial Bank, Bank Aljazeera, Riyad Bank, Samba Financial Group (Samba), and Arab National Bank. The study findings showed that the Corona pandemic had a negative impact on the Saudi economy, and led to deflation in 2020 by 4.1% due to the oil sector. They also showed reducing oil production by the (OPEC +) agreement to achieve stability in the oil market and the non-oil sector. It was also revealed that the profits of Saudi commercial banks in 2020 decreased by 23.1% and that the Corona pandemic had Caused the earning quality to decline in all the studied banks.

하이브리드 웹 기반의 스마트 발권 시스템 (A Smart Ticketing System Based-on Hybrid Web)

  • 본 논문에서는 공연장이나 야구장 등 다양한 분야에서 티켓을 발권하는데 있어서 필요한 보안성과 호환성 그리고 상업성까지 기존 문제를 해결한 미래형 웹 시스템을 설계하고 구현하였다. 보안 문제로 이슈가 되고 있는 우회 해킹 기법인 스크린 해킹을 방어하고 더 강력한 보안을 위해 모바일을 이용한 OTP(One Time Password)시스템을 제시하고 호환 문제를 해결하기 위해 ActiveX를 사용하지 않는 Non-ActiveX System과 다양한 환경이나 기기에서 이용이 가능하게 기존 반응형 하이브리드 웹을 개선한 스마트 발권 시스템을 제시한다. 또한 모바일 기기의 특징을 이용한 지능형 화면 전환 시스템과 자동 할인 시스템, 최단거리 공연장 안내 시스템으로 상업적인 부분까지 고려하여 완성도 높은 시스템을 제시하였다.

핵심 크리에이티브 요소의 포함 형태에 따른 TV광고 효과 연구 (A Study on the Effects of Including Types of Creative Elements in TV Advertising)

  • 본 연구는 TV 광고의 핵심적 크리에이티브 요소의 포함 형태가 광고 태도, 브랜드 태도에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 수행되었다. 구체적으로 TV 광고 크리에이티브 요소의 포함 형태를 조작한 후 브랜드 친숙도, 성별 간의 상호작용에 따른 광고 효과를 측정하였는데, 본 연구를 통하여 얻은 결과는 첫째, 광고 태도와 브랜드 태도 측면에서 제품 및 비제품 요소를 모두 포함하는 광고가 비제품 요소가 포함되지 않은 광고보다 더 효과적이었다. 둘째, 브랜드 친숙도가 높을 경우, 제품 및 비제품 요소가 모두 포함된 광고에 대한 호의적 평가의 강도가 높았다. 셋째, 브랜드 친숙도가 낮을 경우, 남성 소비자는 제품 및 비제품 요소가 모두 포함된 광고에 대하여 여성 소비자보다 높은 강도의 호의적 광고 태도를 형성하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 광고의 핵심적 크리에이티브 요소들이 광고에 포함되는 형태에 따라 소비자는 어떻게 반응하는가를 실증적으로 확인한 것으로서, 이는 향후 광고 제작 시 광고 집행 상황에 따른 적절한 표현전략의 실질적 가이드라인이 되어 줄 수 있음을 시사한다.

마그네슘을 적용한 자동차 시트 쿠션 패널 비등온 성형해석 (Non-isothermal Stamping Analysis of Automotive Seat Cushion Panel Using Mg Alloy Sheet)

  • Mg alloy sheet exhibits significant differences in tensile and compressive yield stress depending on the temperature, as well as variations in its hardening behavior. Such unusual behavior makes it difficult to simulate the forming process of Mg alloy sheets. Results of analysis tend to deviate significantly from the experimental data because commercial software do not completely implement the unusual hardening behavior, yield asymmetry and temperature dependent changes in the Mg alloy's material properties. In the previous study, an in-plane tension-compression cyclic tester was developed to predict the cyclic behavior of Mg alloy sheets at an elevated temperature of up to $250^{\circ}C$. A new constitutive equation was suggested to analyze the unusual behavior, and was implemented in the commercial software in the form of user subroutine. In this paper, a stamping process of Mg seat cushion panel for automotive parts was simulated using the experimental data and user subroutine. Based on the analysis, an optimal temperature condition was determined and a stamping die shape at each step was suggested in the non-isothermal stamping of Mg alloy sheets.

비포름알데하이드계 수지 가공제 처리한 레이온직물의 물리화학적 특성 변화와 최적 처리 조건에 관한 연구 (Physicochemical Properties of Non-Formaldehyde Resin Finished Rayon Fabric and Their Optimal Treatment Condition)

  • Rayon fabrics were treated with some commercial non-formaldehyde and low-formaldehyde resins, and then their effect on the physicochemical properties of fabrics, including formaldehyde release, tear strength, shrinkage, and wrinkle recovery, were investigated respectively. Rayons treated with non-formaldehyde resin, little formaldehyde release was observed. Considering other factors, the optimal concentration of non-formaldehyde resin was shown to be 11-13%, and curing temperature was $170{\sim}175^{\circ}C$. In case of low-formaldehyde type, 9-11% resin concentration and curing temperature of $170{\sim}180^{\circ}C$ were recommended for optimal finishing condition. The choice and combination of resins and catalysts were also important factors, and preliminary considerations before resin-finishing of rayon are also important to get much better results.
