In this article, the acoustic responses of free vibrated natural fibre-reinforced polymer nanocomposite structure have been investigated first time with the help of commercial package (ANSYS) using the multiphysical modelling approach. The sound relevant data of the polymeric structure is obtained by varying weight fractions of the natural nanofibre within the composite. Firstly, the structural frequencies are obtained through a simulation model prepared in ANSYS and solved through the static structural analysis module. Further, the corresponding sound data within a certain range of frequencies are evaluated by modelling the medium through the boundary element steps with adequate coupling between structure and fluid via LMS Virtual Lab. The simulation model validity has been established by comparing the frequency and sound responses with published results. In addition, sets of experimentation are carried out for the eigenvalue and the sound pressure level for different weight fractions of natural fibre and compared with own simulation data. The experimental frequencies are obtained using own impact type vibration analyzer and recorded through LABVIEW support software. Similarly, the noise data due to the harmonically excited vibrating plate are recorded through the available Array microphone (40 PH and serial no: 190569). The numerical results and subsequent experimental comparison are indicating the comprehensiveness of the presently derived simulation model. Finally, the effects of structural design parameters (thickness ratio, aspect ratio and boundary conditions) on the acoustic behaviour of the natural-fibre reinforced nanocomposite are computed using the present multiphysical model and highlighted the inferences.
Recently, the demand for pollution-free demolition work of old reinforced concrete and steel structure has rapidly increased as the redevelopment of urban area has been accelerated. This study deals with linear shape charges for explosive jet cutting on steel structure. We have tested material and shape of steel structure, characteristics of thickness and strength, shape of linear shape charges, type of shape charges, cumulative charges, type of liner, stand-off distance, detonation method. effect of sound and vibration by air blast in explosive jet cutting method. So, We developed linear shape charges in order to take advantage of optimum explosive jet cutting condition. Shape charges were made of PETN explosives. We obtained the experimental formula to decide the amount of explosive needed for thickness of steel structure plate. There are prospects for application of the explosion curving technology under the open space conditions for dismantling the steel structure and steel bridge, scrapped old boats, which are going out of service.
Among many types of light rail transits (LRT), the rubber-tired automated guide-way transit (AGT) is prevalent in many countries due to its advantages such as good acceleration/deceleration performance, high climb capacity, and reduction of noise and vibration. However, AGT is generally powered by high-voltage electric power feeding system and it may cause electromagnetic interference (EMI) to measurement sensors. The fiber optic sensor system is free from EMI and has been successfully applied in many applications of civil engineering. Especially, fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors are the most widely used because of their excellent multiplexing capabilities. This paper investigates a prestressed concrete girder bridge in the Korean AGT test track using FBG based sensors to monitor the dynamic response at various vehicle speeds. The serviceability requirements provided in the specification are also compared against the measured results. The results show that the measured data from FBG based sensors are free from EMI though electric sensors are not, especially in the case of electric strain gauge. It is expected that the FBG sensing system can be effectively applied to the LRT railway bridges that suffered from EMI.
Objectives: Diisocyanates are a potent inducer of diseases of the airways, especially asthma. In this study, toluenediamine(TDA) and methylenedianiline(MDA) in urine were evaluated as biomarkers of exposure to tolunenediisocyanate(TDI) and methylenediphenyl diisocyanate(MDI), respectively. Methods: Workers exposed to TDI and MDI, as well as non-occupationally exposed subjects, were studied and pre- and post-shift urine samples were collected from 8 control subjects and 8 workers from a factory which manufactures polyurethane products for reducing noise and vibration in automobiles. Airborne TDI and MDI(n=8) were sampled on solvent-free glass filters impregnated with n-butylamine and detected by liquid chromatography atmospheric pressure ionization tandem mass spectrometry. Urinary TDA and MDA were detected as pentafluoropropionic acid anhydride(PFPA) derivatives by liquid chromatography electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry. Results: The median levels of urinary 2,6-TDA(p<0.001), 2,4-TDA(p=0.001), and MDA(p<0.001) of workers in post-shift samples were significantly higher than those of controls. The median levels of urinary 2,6-0TDA(
With the growing interest in fossil fuel depletion and environmental pollution, railroad cars operating in Korea are in progress as the conversion from diesel to electric vehicles expands. The photovoltaic system, which is applied as an example of the conversion of electric vehicles, is infinite and pollution-free, and can produce energy without generating hazards such as air pollution, noise, heat, and vibration, and maintain fuel transportation and power generation facilities. There is an advantage that is rarely needed. However, the amount of electricity produced depends on the amount of solar radiation by region, and the energy density is low due to the power generation of about 25㎡/ kWp, so a large installation area is required and the installation place has limited problems. In view of these problems, many studies have been applied to fuel cells in the railway field. In particular, the plan to link the fuel cell power generation system railroad power supply system must be linked to the power supply system that supplies power to the railroad, unlike solar and wind power. Therefore, it has a close relationship with railroad cars and the linkage method can vary greatly depending on the system topology. Therefore, in this paper, we study the validity through simulation modeling related to linkage analysis according to system topology.
Jacked pile that involves the use of hydraulic jacks to press the piles into the ground is free from noise and vibration, and is possibly installed within a limited construction area. Thus, as an alternative to conventional pile driving methods, pile jacking could become widely accepted for the construction projects in urban area (e.g., reconstruction or remodeling construction projects). Great concern has arisen over the prediction of axially loaded jacked pile behavior. Against this background, a series of pile load tests were hence conducted on a jacked steel pipe pile installed in weathered zone (i.e., weathered soil and weathered rock). From the test results, base resistance and shaft resistance for each test condition were evaluated and compared with the values predicted by the previous driven pile resistance assessment method. Test results showed that the previous driven pile resistance assessment method highly underestimated both the base and shaft resistances of a jacked pile; differences were more obviously observed with the shaft resistance. The reason for this discrepancy is that a driven pile normally experiences a larger number of loading/unloading cycles during installation, and therefore shows significantly degraded stiffness of surrounding soil. Based on the results of the pile load tests, particular attention was given to the modification of the previous driven pile resistance assessment method for investigating the axially loaded jacked pile behavior.
Among the main facilities of the power plant, the circulating water used for cooling the power generation system is supplied through the Circulation Water Intake Basin (CWIB). The vortexes of various types generated in the Pump Sump (PS) of CWIB adversely affect the Circulation Water Pump (CWP) and pipelines. In particular, the free surface vortex accompanied by air intake brings about vibration, noise, cavitation etc. and these are the causes of degradation of CWP performance, damage to pipelines. Then power generation is interrupted by the causes. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the hydraulic characteristics of CWIB through the hydraulic model experiment and apply an appropriate Anti Vortex Device (AVD) that can control the vortex to enable smooth operation of the power plant. In general, free surface vortex is controlled by Curtain Wall (CW) and the submerged vortex is by the anti vortex device of the curtain wall. The detailed specifications are described in the American National Standard for Pump Intake Design. In this study, the circulating water intake part of the Tripoli West 4×350 MW power plant in Libya was targeted, the actual operating conditions were applied, and the vortex reduction effect of the anti vortex device generated in the suction tank among the circulating water intake part was analyzed through a hydraulic model experiment. In addition, a floor splitter was basically applied to control the submerged vortex, and a new type of column curtain wall was additionally applied to control the vortex generated on the free surface to confirm the effect. As a result of analyzing the hydraulic characteristics by additionally applying the newly developed Column Curtain Wall (CCW) to the existing curtain wall, we have found that the vortex was controlled by forming a uniform flow. In addition, the vortex angle generated in the circulating water pump pipeline was 5° or less, which is the design standard of ANSI/HI 9.8, confirming the stability of the flow.
The wall shear stress in the vicinity of end-to end anastomoses under steady flow conditions was measured using a flush-mounted hot-film anemometer(FMHFA) probe. The experimental measurements were in good agreement with numerical results except in flow with low Reynolds numbers. The wall shear stress increased proximal to the anastomosis in flow from the Penrose tubing (simulating an artery) to the PTFE: graft. In flow from the PTFE graft to the Penrose tubing, low wall shear stress was observed distal to the anastomosis. Abnormal distributions of wall shear stress in the vicinity of the anastomosis, resulting from the compliance mismatch between the graft and the host artery, might be an important factor of ANFH formation and the graft failure. The present study suggests a correlation between regions of the low wall shear stress and the development of anastomotic neointimal fibrous hyperplasia(ANPH) in end-to-end anastomoses. 30523 T00401030523 ^x Air pressure decay(APD) rate and ultrafiltration rate(UFR) tests were performed on new and saline rinsed dialyzers as well as those roused in patients several times. C-DAK 4000 (Cordis Dow) and CF IS-11 (Baxter Travenol) reused dialyzers obtained from the dialysis clinic were used in the present study. The new dialyzers exhibited a relatively flat APD, whereas saline rinsed and reused dialyzers showed considerable amount of decay. C-DAH dialyzers had a larger APD(11.70
