Cost reduction of products is and will always be a key objective of industrials. However, it is well identified that the wiping process reaches its limits at high line speed in general and especially thin coatings. If wiping models predict that it is possible to reach 32-37 g/$m^2$ of pure Zinc at 180 m/min provided the nozzle to strip distance can be reduced to 6mm, the possibility to reach that process window industrially with sufficient robustness is debated. 3 key problems are reviewed and analyzed: Zinc splashing and liquid drop emissions of various forms, the production of skimming and the noise generated by the nozzles. The available data and models are firstly used to predict phenomena. Secondly, videos and pictures from the lines showing what really happens on the edges especially in case of a strip width change are analyzed. Whereas the predicted level of skimming to remove from the pot is expected very high, it turns out that the target may be very close to the full splashing phenomena and that the most critical industrial situation is related to strip specification changes. It is then expected that the industrial feasibility of the 32-37 g/$m^2$ at 180 m/min will depend strongly on the amount of incoming strip with the same width that can be processed continuously.
In this study, a wavelet-based covariance-driven system identification technique is proposed for damage assessment of structures under ambient excitation. Assuming the ambient excitation to be a white-noise process, the covariance computation is shown to be able to separate the effect of random excitation from the response measurement. Wavelet transform (WT) is then used to convert the covariance response in the time domain to the WT magnitude plot in the time-scale plane. The wavelet coefficients along the curves where energy concentrated are extracted and used to estimate the modal properties of the structure. These modal property estimations lead to the calculation of the stiffness matrix when either the spectral density of the random loading or the mass matrix is given. The predicted stiffness matrix hence provides a direct assessment on the possible location and severity of damage which results in stiffness alteration. To demonstrate the proposed wavelet-based damage assessment technique, a numerical example on a 3 degree-of-freedom (DOF) system and an experimental study on a three-story building model, which are all under a broad-band excitation, are presented. Both numerical and experimental results illustrate that the proposed technique can provide an accurate assessment on the damage location. It is however noted that the assessment of damage severity is not as accurate, which might be due to the errors associated with the mode shape estimations as well as the assumption of proportional damping adopted in the formulation.
In this study, we propose a novel 8T ternary SRAM that can process three logic values (0, 1, and 2) with only two additional transistors, compared with the conventional 6T binary SRAM. The circuit structure consists of positive and negative ternary inverters (PTI and NTI, respectively) with carbon-nanotube field-effect transistors, replacing conventional cross-coupled inverters. In logic '0' or '2,' the proposed SRAM cell operates the same way as conventional binary SRAM. For logic '1,' it works differently as storage nodes on each side retain voltages of VDD/2 and VDD, respectively, using the subthreshold current of two additional transistors. By applying the ternary system, the data capacity increases exponentially as the number of cells increases compared with the 6T binary SRAM, and the proposed design has an 18.87% data density improvement. In addition, the Synopsys HSPICE simulation validates the reduction in static power consumption by 71.4% in the array system. In addition, the static noise margins are above 222 mV, ensuring the stability of the cell operation when VDD is set to 0.9 V.
영상의 질 평가는 동맥기의 간 실질 조직, 대동맥, 상장간막동맥, 복강동맥, 내장지방 그리고 백그라운드에 관심영역(region of interest; ROI)을 설정해 잡음(noise), 신호대 잡음비(signal to noise ratio; SNR), 대조도 대 잡음비(contrast to noise ratio; CNR), CT number를 측정 비교하였다. 방사선량은 총 DLP(dose length product)와 유효선량, CTDIvol(volume computed tomography dose index)을 비교하였다.
The objective of vehicle aerodynamic design is on the fuel economy, reduction of the harmful emission, minimizing the vibration and noise and the driving stability of the vehicle. Especially for a sedan, the driving stability of the vehicle is the main concern of the aerodynamic design of the vehicle indeed. In this theoretical study, an evaluation algorithm of aerodynamic driving stability of a vehicle was made to estimate the dynamic stability of a vehicle at the given driving condition on a road. For the stability evaluation of a driving vehicle, CFD simulation was conducted to have the rolling, pitching and yawing moments of a model vehicle and compared the values of the moments to the resistance moments. From the case study, it is found that a model sedan running at 100 km/h in speed on a straight level road is stable under the side wind with 45 m/s in speed. But the different results may be obtained on the buses and trucks because those vehicles have the wide side area. From the case study of the model vehicle moving on 100 km/h speed with 15 m/s side wind is evaluated using the numerical algorithm drawn from the study, the value of yawing moment is $608.6N{\cdot}m$, rolling moment $-641N{\cdot}m$ and pitching moment $3.9N{\cdot}m$. These values are smaller than each value of rotational resistance moment the model vehicle has, and therefore, the model vehicle's driving stability is guaranteed when driving 100 km/h with 15 m/s side wind.
