Massive MIMO with Transceiver Hardware Impairments: Performance Analysis and Phase Noise Error Minimization

  • In this paper, we investigate the impact of hardware impairments (HWIs) on the performance of a downlink massive MIMO system. We consider a single-cell system with maximum ratio transmission (MRT) as precoding scheme, and with all the HWIs characteristics such as phase noise, distortion noise, and amplified thermal noise. Based on the system model, we derive closed-form expressions for a typical user data rate under two scenarios: when a common local oscillator (CLO) is used at the base station and when separated oscillators (SLOs) are used. We also derive closed-form expressions for the downlink transmit power required for some desired per-user data rate under each scenario. Compared to the conventional system with ideal transceiver hardware, our results show that impairments of hardware make a finite upper limit on the user's downlink channel capacity; and as the number of base station antennas grows large, it is only the hardware impairments at the users that mainly limit the capacity. Our results also show that SLOs configuration provides higher data rate than CLO at the price of higher power consumption. An approach to minimize the effect of the hardware impairments on the system performance is also proposed in the paper. In our approach, we show that by reducing the cell size, the effect of accumulated phase noise during channel estimation time is minimized and hence the user capacity is increased, and the downlink transmit power is decreased.

P-코어 VCO를 사용한 10.525GHz 자체발진 혼합기의 설계 (Design of 10.525GHz Self-Oscillating Mixer Using P-Core Voltage Controlled Oscillator)

  • 도플러 레이더에 응용할 목적으로 전압제어 발진기와 주파수 혼합기가 합쳐진 10.525GHz 자체발진 혼합기 반도체 IC 칩을 실리콘 CMOS 기술을 이용하여 설계하였다. 자체발진 혼합기에 포함된 p-코어 형태의 VCO는 송신신호에 포함된 잡음을 최소화한다. 이 잡음 최소화는 센싱 가능 거리를 늘여서 움직임 감지센서의 도달거리와 도달감도에 유리한 방향으로 작용한다. 위상잡음에 대한 시뮬레이션 결과 P-코어로 설계된 VCO는 1MHz 오프셋에서 -106.008dBc/Hz, 25MHz 오프셋에서 -140.735dBc/Hz의 잡음특성을 가짐으로써 N-코어 및 NP-코어로 설계된 VCO에 비하여 우수한 잡음 특성을 보였다. 본 연구에 의한 p-코어로 설계된 VCO를 이용하여 자체 발진 혼합기를 구현한다면 도달거리와 도달감도가 우수한 움직임 감지센서를 제작할 수 있을 것이다.

복합재료판 구조물의 고유진동수 위상최적화에 관한 연구 (Study on Topology Optimization for Eigenfrequency of Plates with Composite Materials)

  • The aim of this research is to construct eigenfrequency optimization codes for plates with Arbitrary Rank Microstructures. From among noise factors, resonance sound is main reason for floor's solid noise. But, Resonance-elusion design codes are not fixed so far. Besides, The prediction of composite material's capability and an resonance elusion by controlling natural frequency of plate depend on designer's experiences. In this paper, First, using computer program with arbitrary rank microstructure, variation on composite material properties is studied, and then natural frequency control is performed by plate topology optimization method. The results of this study are as followed. 1) Programs that calculate material properties along it's microstructure composition and control natural frequency on composite material plate are coded by Homogenization and Topology Optimization method. and it is examined by example problem. 2) Equivalent material properties, calculated by program, are examined for natural frequency. In this paper, Suggested programs are coded using $Matlab^{TM}$, Feapmax and Feap Library with Homogenization and Topology Optimization method. and Adequacy of them is reviewed by performing the maximization or minimization of natural frequency for plates with isotropic or anisotropic materials. Since the programs has been designed for widely use. If the mechanism between composite material and other structural member is identified, extension application may be possible in field of structure maintenance, reinforcement etc. through application of composite material.

GaAs PHEMT를 이용한 B-WLL용 MMIC 저잡음 증폭기의 설계 (Design of MMIC Low Noise Amplifier for B-WLL using GaAs PHEMT)

  • 본 논문에서는 GaAs PHEMT를 제작한 후 이를 사용하여 B←WLL용 MMIC 저잡음 증폭기를 설계하였다. LNA 설계에 사용된 PHEMT는 $0.35\mu\textrm{m}$ 게이트 길이와 $120\mu\textrm{m}$의 게이트 폭을 갖고 있으며 본 실험실에서 직접 제작했다. 총 3단으로 설계된 LNA의 1단에서는 높은 안정도와 저잡음 특성을 위해 소오스단에 직렬 인덕티 브 궤환회로룹 사용하였으며,2단-3단에서는 칩의 크기를 최소화 할 수 있도록 2단-3단 사이에 중간단 정합회 로틀 사용하지 않는 회로 구조로 설계하였다. 설계된 LNA의 시율레이션 결과, 25.5 -27.5 GHz 대역에서 0.851 1.25 dB의 잡음지수와 22.08-23.65 dB의 521 이득을 얻었고 전체 칩 크기는 $3.7\times1.6 mm^2$이다.

HMM과 $H_\infty$필터를 이용한 강인한 음성 향상 (Robust Speech Enhancement Using HMM and $H_\infty$ Filter)

  • 칼만/위너 필터에 근거한 음성향상 알고리즘은 잡음의 선험적 지식을 요구하고, 음성신호와 추정신호의 오차분산을 최소화하는데 중점을 두고 있어, 잡음에 대한 통계적 추정에 오류가 있을 경우 결과에 악영향을 미칠 수 있다. 그러나 H/sub ∞/필터는 잡음에 대한 어떠한 가정이나 선험적 지식을 요구하지 않으며, 최소상계 (Least Upper Bound)를 적용하여 추정된 모든 신호들로부터 최소에러 신호를 갖는 최상의 추정신호를 찾아내므로 칼만/위너 필터보다 잡음의 변화에 강인하다. 본 논문에서는 학습 신호로부터 은닉 마코프 모델의 파라미터를 추정한 후, 오염된 신호를 고정된 개수의 H/sub ∞/필터를 통과시켜 각 출력에 가중된 합으로 향상된 음성 신호를 구하는 다중 H/sub ∞/필터에 의한 강인한 음성향상 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법의 성능 평가를 위하여 음성 향상 시간과 신호 대 잡음비를 비교한 결과, 기존의 방법에 비해 계산량은 다소 증가하지만 신호 대 잡음비는 약 1∼2dB 향상 되었다.

이산계와 탄성 지지보의 동응답 및 진동 인텐시티 저감을 위한 목적함수 해석 (Analyses of the Cost function for the Reductions of the Dynamic Response and the Vibrational Intensity of a Discrete System and Its Elastic Supporting Beam)

  • In this paper, the feasibility of the cost function having two control factors were discussed in compared to two others which has one different control factor respectively. As of the control factors, the dynamic response of a discrete system and the vibrational intensity at the reference point which is the connecting point of a discrete system to a flexible beam were controlled actively by the control force obtained from the minimization of the cost function. The method of feedforward control was employed for the control strategy. The reduction levels of the dynamic response of a discrete system and the vibrational intensity at a reference point, and also the input power induced by the control force were evaluated numerically in cases of the three different cost functions. In comparison with the results obtained from the cost functions of one control factor, which is the dynamic response or the vibrational intensity, in most cases of the cost function of two control factors the better or similar results were obtained. As a conclusion, it is surely noted that both the dynamic response and the vibrational intensity of the vibrating system be controlled up to the expected level by using the single cost function having two control factors.

  • 외팔보의 진동문제를 외란에 대한 감도최소화 문제로 공식화하여 현재 많이 개발되어 있는 H$_{\infty}$ 제어기법의 해를 이용하여 접근하고, 이의 성능을 비교하기 위하여 H$_{2}$ 공간에서의 특수한 문제인 LQG를 다루었다. 작동기는 압전소자를 사용하였고, 실제 항공익 등의 문제와 일치를 꾀하기 위하여 기반가진 형태의 외란을 가하였다. 모의 실험이 수행되었으며, 제시된 제어기가 많은 상황에서 좋은 성능을 가진다는 것이 밝혀졌다.

  • Body-on-frame type vehicle has a set of frame bushes which are installed between body and frame fur vibration Isolation. Such frame bushes are important vibration transmission paths to passenger space. In order to reduce the vibration level of passenger space, therefore, the change of complex stiffness of the frame bushes is more efficient than modification of other parts of the vehicle such as body, frame and suspension. The purpose of this study is to reduce the vibration level for ride comfort by optimization of complex stiffness of frame bushes. In order to do this end, simple finite element vehicle model was constructed and the complex stiffness of frame bushes was set to be design variable. Objective function was defined to reflect passenger ride comfort and genetic algorithm and sub-structure synthesis were applied for minimization of the objective function.

Simulative Investigation of Spectral Amplitude Coding Based OCDMA System Using Quantum Logic Gate Code with NAND and Direct Detection Techniques

  • Spectral Amplitude Coding Optical Code Division Multiple Access (SAC OCDMA) is an advanced technique in asynchronous environments. This paper proposes design and implementation of a novel quantum logic gate (QLG) code, with code construction algorithm generated without following any code mapping procedures for SAC system. The proposed code has a unitary matrices property with maximum overlap of one chip for various clients and no overlaps in spectra for the rest of the subscribers. Results indicate that a single algorithm produces the same length increment for codes with weight greater than two and follows the same signal to noise ratio (SNR) and bit error rate (BER) calculations for a higher number of users. This paper further examines the performance of a QLG code based SAC-OCDMA system with NAND and direct detection techniques. BER analysis was carried out for the proposed code and results were compared with existing MDW, RD and GMP codes. We demonstrate that the QLG code based system performs better in terms of cardinality, which is followed by improved BER. Numerical analysis reveals that for error free transmission (10-9), the suggested code supports approximately 170 users with code weight 4. Our results also conclude that the proposed code provides improvement in the code construction, cross-correlation and minimization of noises.

  • For greeting the era of ubiquitous network, data storage devices have been essentially attached to mobile data devices. As a result, the minimization of the storage device has arisen as major interests in the next generation data storage technology. So, there are many researches for the small form factor ODD. In this paper, we propose a pick up that consists of a linear VCM and 2-wire focusing actuator for a small form factor ODD. For the sake of checking performance of the coarse actuator, PID controller is designed. Experiment with controller and DSP board shows its propriety as a fine tracking actuator. And, 2-wire suspension actuator is designed in order to be contained in a coarse actuator and to satisfy the thickness of a PCMCIA type. Through the experiment of designed actuator, It verifies performance as a focusing actuator.
