This study was conducted to increase the shelf life of grape by edible coating material such as methyl cellulose (MC) with antimicrobial substances, n-capric acid isopropyl ester (ci) and sodium nitrate (sn), added by spraying method. The quality changes of packaged grapes with wrapping PE film on EPS tray were investigated for 16 days at $30{\circ}C$. The shelf-lives of C and MCci based on the weight reduction ratio of 7% were 6 days and 9 days, respectively. The reduction rate of acidity of C was higher value than those of treatments during 18 days of storage at $30{\circ}C$. The vitamin C reduction ratios of C, MCsn and MCci were 64.8, 51.5 and 49.8%, respectively, after 16 days at $30{\circ}C$. The reduction rates of firmness of C, MCsn and MCci after 16 days at $30{\circ}C$ were 44.2, 26.5, and 23,2%, respectively compared to that of initial storage grapes. The additions of ci and sn had much affected the reductions of bacteria and yeast counts especially early stage of storage. The hedonic sensory evaluation scores of MCci and MCsn had higher values than those of MC.

The propellant tile and crack which account for the greatest proportion of solid rockets are profoundly affected by viscosity and mechanical properties of solid propellant. In this paper solid propellant with nitrate ester polyester(NEPE) system has been researched for the viscosity, mechanical properties and burning properties with size and mixing ratio of RDX. the viscosity of propellant was changed significantly depending on the size of RDX and mixing ratio, and mechanical properties of NEPE system propellant were also varied. Considering both lower viscosity and stable mechanical properties, the optimum size and mixing ratio of RDX can be identified as the main factors to the NEPE system propellant.
The Budget method used currently in Codex for estimation of use levels of food additives was investigated and the specific approach that can be applicable for Koreans has been proposed. Theoretical maximum daily intakes(TMDIs) of benzoate, $\rho$-hydroxybenzoic acid ester, butylated hydroxyanisole(BHA), butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), t-butylhydroquinone(TBHQ), nitrite, nitrate, sorbate, and sulfite were estimated and compared with corresponding acceptable daily intakes(ADIs). Additives requiring further precise evaluation were screened. TMDIs of benzoate, BHA, BHT, TBHQ, nitrite, and sulfite exceeded ADIs. On the other hand, it is appeared that TMDIs of $\rho$-hydroxybenzoic acid ester, nitrate, and sorbate were below ADIs. It is expected that the Budget method may be used as one approach for the estimation of use level and risk assessment.

Single base propellant using a nitrate ester compound NC decomposes naturally during storage time. Therefore, the research for storage life extension is necessary to single base propellant. In this research, $CaCO_3$ inorganic stabilizer had been added into single base propellants up to 0.3%, and the accelerated aging test of the propellant was started. And then, with applying the Arrhenius equation, the storage life of the test of the propellant was contrasted with that of reference propellant. As a result, the storage life of the propellant containing $CaCO_3$ inorganic stabilizer was about twice longer than the reference propellant.
1,2,4,5-tetraoxane, mono and dinitrate glycerol carbonate ester derivatives of stearic acid were synthesized along with the known 9(10)-keto methyl sterate, methoxy mono-nitrate and dinitrate of methyl stearate. Their cetane numbers (CNs) were investigated to evaluate their viability for use as CN improvers. The CN performances of tetraoxane and all of the nitrate derivatives were investigated at 500 and 1000 ppm concentrations and compared to that of a traditional CN improver 2-ethylhexyl nitrate (2-EHN). The experimental results suggest that all derivatives evaluated in this study showed better CN improvement than base diesel fuel. Specifically, the 1,2,4,5-tetraoxane derivative of stearic methyl ester was superior to all derivatives studied, also being superior to 2-EHN. We also discussed the correlations between the observed CN trends and thermo-analytical data resulted from thermo gravimetric analysis curves (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).

HNIW is a high energy material and has four crystalline phases, it is known that the thermal properties of the material depend on the crystal phase. In this sturdy, the viscosity, mechanical and burning properties of a solid propellant with nitrate ester polyester(NEPE) system with respect to the crystal phases of HNIW. According to the crystal phase of HNIW, the mechanical properties of the cured propellant did not change considerably, however differences were observed in the burning properties. Considering both a high density and stable burning properties, the optimum crystal phase of HNIW can be identified as the main factor influencing to the NEPE system propellant.
Planktivorous fish which limit zooplankton grazing have been predicted to increase algal biodiesel production in wastewater fed open reactors. In addition, tanks with higher algal diversity have been predicted to be more stable, more productive, and to more fully remove nutrients from wastewater. To test these predictions, we conducted a 14-week experiment in Houston, TX using twelve 2,270-L open tanks continuously supplied with wastewater. Tanks received algal composition (monocultures or diverse assemblage) and trophic (fish or no fish) treatments in a full-factorial design. Monocultures produced more algal and fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) mass than diverse tanks. More than 80% of lipids were converted to FAME indicating potentially high production for conversion to biodiesel (up to $0.9T\;ha^{-1}y^{-1}$). Prolific algal growth lowered temperature and levels of total dissolved solids in the tanks and increased pH and dissolved oxygen compared to supply water. Algae in the tanks removed 91% of nitrate-N and 53% of phosphorus from wastewater. Monocultures were not invaded by other algal species. Fish did not affect any variables. Our results indicated that algae can be grown in open tank bioreactors using wastewater as a nutrient source. The stable productivity of monocultures suggests that this may be a viable production method to procure algal biomass for biodiesel production.
Ginseng saponin (G5) purified from Panax ginseng, increase renal blood flow in rats. Nitric oxide (NO) is thought to be a substance endogenously released by G5 in preconstricted lungs and cultured endothelial cells. The present study aims to determine whether G5 could stimulate endogenous 1'elease of NO in rat kidney and urine levels of the stable NO metabolites, nitrite (NO,) and nitrate (NO,) and urinary COMP levels were measured 8 hr after a single intraperitoneal injection of GS (200 mg/kg) Into rats. The effects of the WO synthesis inhibitor, Nu-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester, .1nd the NO precursor, L-arginine, on the G5-induced changes were also determined. The activity of NO synthase, as determined by conversion of ('"C)-L-arginine to ('"C)-L-citrulline, in whole kidney, glomeruli and cortical tubules were also investigated. A single injection of GS resulted in endogenous production of NO as reflected by increase in serum and urine levels of N021N03 and urinary cGMP levels, which were inhibited by the addition o ( N-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester and restored fly L-arginine. GS also stimulated the activity of NO synthase in whole kidney as well as glomeruli and cortical tubules, and Nu-nitro-L-arginine methyl tilter significantly prevented this increase. In conclusion, GS stimulates endogenous NO production and thus, may play a protective role 1 11 the kidney by modulating renal blood flow.
Recently microalgae have been proposed as a promising biodiesel feedstock, owing to their higher lipid productivity and non-arable land based cultivation system. Biomass and lipid productivities of microalgae are largely affected by various environmental and nutritional factors. In this study, the effects of nitrogen (nitrate and ammonium) and organic carbon (glucose and glycerol) sources on the cell growth and lipid production of Chlorella sp. KR-1 were examined in flask cultures. Under autotrophic culture conditions for 15 days, overall cell growth and lipid (fatty acid methyl ester, FAME) production with nitrate were better than those of ammonium, resulting in 1.06 g cell/L and 333 mg FAME/L, respectively. Maximal intracellular lipid contents (348 - 352 mg FAME/g cell) were observed at low concentrations of 1 mM for both nitrate and ammonium. In the supply of light, addition of glucose in the range of 1 - 20 g/L showed higher cell densities than the autotrophic cell growth condition. Higher lipid accumulation of 375 mg FAME/g cell could achieved at 5 g glucose/L albeit of relatively short incubation of 7 days. With glycerol, intracellular lipid contents were ~1.9 times lower than glucose cases although similar cell growths were observed for both carbon sources.
