Dry Reforming of Methane over Promoters Added Ni/HY Catalysts (조촉매가 담지된 Ni/HY 촉매상에서 메탄의 건식 개질 반응 연구)

  • Dry reforming of methane to synthesis gas was investigated over a series of Ni/HY catalysts promoted by Mg, Ca, K and Mn. These catalysts were characterized by XRD, BET, SEM, and TGA analyses before and after the reaction. Conversions and product yields were increased with increasing nickel loading up to 13 wt%. Among the catalysts tested in this work, the Ni-Mg/HY catalyst showed the highest carbon resistance and the most stable catalytic performance. It was revealed that the addition of Mg promoter reduced the nickel particle size and produced the highly dispersed nickel particles, and consequently, retarded the catalyst deactivation.

Catalytic Hydrogenation of Triglyceride in a Semi-batch Reactor (Semi-batch 반응기에서의 트리글리세라이드 접촉 수소화 반응)

  • The aim of this study is to investigate the feasibility of an Ni-SA catalyst, which was prepared from nickel, kieselguhr, and alumina, for the hydrogenation of triglyceride in a bench-scale reactor. Ni-SA powders were prepared by precipitating nickel precursors on a silica and alumina support. The powder was reduced in a hydrogen flow, mixed with a saturated palm oil, and then cooled to prepare an Ni-SA catalyst tablet. The sizes of NiO crystals of a commercial Pricat catalyst and the Ni-SA catalyst prepared in this study were $35{\AA}$ and $38{\AA}$, respectively. The pore volume and pore size of the Ni-SA catalyst was much larger than the pore volume and pore size of the Pricat catalyst. In addition, the average particle size of the Ni-SA catalyst was much smaller than that of the Pricat catalyst. The triglyceride hydrogenation reaction was carried out in a semi-batch reactor using catalysts impregnated with oil and molded into tablets. It was found that the Ni-SA catalyst was superior to the commercial Pricat catalyst in triglyceride hydrogenation, which could be ascribed to the raw material and the products being less influenced by the diffusion resistance in the pores of the Ni-SA catalyst. The Ni-SA catalyst prepared in this study has the potential to replace the Pricat catalyst as a catalyst for use in the commercial process for hydrogenation of triglyceride.

Hydrodesulfuriztion of Thiophene over Neodymium Added Nickel Catalysts (네오디뮴이 첨가된 니켈 촉매의 티오펜 탈황 반응)

  • In this study HDS(hydrodesulfurization) of thiophene was researched over nickel catalysts added with small amounts of neodymium which were prepared by different methods such as unsupported coprepricipitated NdNi catalysts, unsupported intermetallic $NdNi_5$ catalysts, and carbon supported NdNi catalyst. The HDS activity was remarkably increased when a small amounts of neodymium was added to unsupported coprecipitated Ni catalysts. Thus it was known that the role of Nd is important in HDS of thiophene of Ni catalysts. For the case of unsupported intermetallic $NdNi_5$, the intermetallic crystallinity was destroyed to oxide and sulfide after calcination and presulfidation respectively. The HDS activity of thiophene can be explained by surface area of unsupported catalysts. And Nd acts like as structural promoter keeping the high surface area of unsupported catalysts. The HDS activity was increased by each ten times based on 1 gr. of nickel in the order of unsupported intermetallic $NdNi_5$, unsupported coprecipitated NdNi, and carbon supported NdNi catalysts according to different preparation method of catalysts.

Promotion effect of Ce on coke resistance over Ni-based catalyst in combined steam and carbon dioxide reforming of methane (메탄의 수증기-이산화탄소 복합개질 반응에서 니켈 촉매의 탄소침적 저항성에대한 Ce 증진효과)

  • 메탄의 수증기-이산화탄소 복합개질반응에서 니켈 촉매의 탄소 침적 저항성에대한 Ce 증진 효과를 살펴보기 위해, Ni-Ce/${\alpha}-Al_2O_3$ 촉매를 제조하였다. Ce/Ni 비율 변화에 따른 촉매 비표면적, Ni 입자 분산도 및 촉매 활성 변화를 살펴보았고, Ce 첨가량을 최적화 할 수 있었다. Ce/Ni 비율 증가에 따라 NiO 결정크기가 감소하고 표면적과 Ni 분산도는 증가하였다. 특히, Ce/Ni=0.5 첨가 시, 촉매는 가장 넓은 비표면적과 Ni 분산도를 가졌으며, 우수한 촉매 활성 및 높은 탄소 침적 저항성을 보였다. 또한, 본 연구에서는 Ni과 Ce 담지 방법에 따른 Ni 분산도 향상과 Ni과 Ce간의 접촉 면적 극대화를 통한 활성산소 공급 향상에 대한 영향을 함께 살펴보았다. Ni과 Ce를 동시 함침법과 연속 함침법으로 담지하여 비교한 결과, 동시 함침법으로 제조한 Ni-Ce/${\alpha}-Al_2O_3$ (Ce/Ni=0.5) 촉매가 가장 우수한 촉매 성능 및 높은 탄소 침적 저항성을 보였다. 이는 동시 함침법으로 고분산된 Ni 입자와 담체간의 강한 상호작용 형성과 원활한 활성 산소 공급에 기인한 것이다.

A Study on the Reaction Characteristics of Steam Reforming Reaction over Catalyzed Porous Membrane (다공성 촉매 분리막을 이용한 수증기 개질 반응 특성 연구)

  • In this study, steam reforming reaction and surface characteristics of Ni metal foam plate were investigated. Valence state of Ni could be changed by pretreatment, and metallic Ni species exposed on surface as a active site play important role in steam reforming reaction. Porous catalytic membrane also was prepared by mixing of Ni metal foam plate and Ni-YSZ catalyst to control the pore size and assign the catalytic function in Ni metal foam plate. In SEM analysis results, Pore size of Ni metal foam plate could be controlled and Ni-YSZ catalyst well dispersed on surface. Ni based porous catalytic membrane had a similar steam reforming activity regardless of space velocity.

Preparation and Characterization of Ni Catalyst Supported on Mesoporous Silica for Methanation (메탄화 반응을 위한 중형 기공성 실리카 물질에 담지된 니켈 촉매의 제조와 특성 분석)

  • Ni catalysts on mesoporous silica and commercial silica were prepared for the methanation. XRD and TPR analyses indicated that Ni/mesoporous silica had smaller metal particle size and higher metal dispersion than that of Ni/commercial silica. In addition, Ni/mesoporous silica had stronger metal-support interaction. In methanation, Ni/mesoporous silica showed higher CO conversion and methane yield (65%) than Ni/commercial silica (58%). In the characterization results of catalysts after reaction, Ni/commercial silica was deactivated by the collapse of structure and metal sintering, but Ni/mesoporous silica showed stable catalytic performance.

전자빔 처리된 $Ni/g-Al_2O_3$ 촉매에서 메탄의 합성가스 전환반응

  • 본 연구에서는 일정선량(600kGy)에서 전자빔 에너지(0.7, 1, 2 MeV)를 달리하여 조사한 $Ni/g-Al_2O_3$ 촉매를 이용하여 세 가지 다른 종류의 합성가스 전환반응(메탄의 이산화탄소 개질반응, 메탄의 수증기 개질반응, 메탄의 부분산화반응)을 수행하였다. 전자빔 조사는 He 분위기, 실온에서 수행하였으며, 조사된 촉매의 표면상태 변화를 살펴보기 위하여 XRD, XPS 분석을 수행하였다. 고에너지 전자빔 처리된 $Ni/g-Al_2O_3$ 촉매의 표면 특성분석 결과 촉매 표면의 Ni종은 metallic Ni, NiO, $NiAl_2O_4$의 3가지 상태로 존재함을 알 수 있었으며, 전자빔 에너지 증가에 따라 촉매 표면의 전체적인 Ni 함량과 촉매 표면의 Ni 분산도를 나타내는 Ni/Al ratio가 증가하였다. 또한, 전자빔 에너지 증가에 따라 Ni에 결합된 산소가 더 크게 감소되어 표면에서 산소 vacancy가 증가하는 결과를 가져왔으며, 이는 결국 세 가지 Ni의 상태 중 metallic Ni과 $NiAl_2O_4$를 증가시켰다. 이러한 결과들은 메탄의 이산화탄소 개질 반응과 메탄의 수증기 개질반응에서 반응물($CH_4$, $CO_2$)의 전환율과 생성물(CO, $H_2$)의 수득율을 증가시켰으며 메탄의 부분산화반응은 반응의 특성상 메탄의 전환율은 증가하나 생성물인 CO, $H_2$는 오히려 감소하는 결과를 가져옴을 알 수 있었다.

  • 석유의 고갈과 고유가 시대에 직면한 현재 전 세계적으로 매장량이 풍부하고 안정적으로 공급이 가능한 석탄 활용에 대한 관심이 급격히 증가하고 있다. 석탄의 활용 분야 중 석탄 가스화(Coal gasifier)에서 유도된 합성가스를 이용하여 합성천연가스(SNG) 생산을 할 수 있는 메탄화(Methanation) 공정에서는 대부분 Ni계열 촉매를 사용하고 있는데, 촉매를 설계하는 관점에서 담체(Support), 조촉매(Promoter), Ni의 함량 등과 같은 설계 변수에 따라 촉매의 활성과 함께 메탄 수율이 결정된다. 본 연구에서는 다양한 담체상에 Ni를 담지 하여 20bar 압력에서 SNG 반응에 높은 활성을 보일 수 있는 촉매를 확보하고자 실험을 수행하였으며, 그 결과 $NiO/SiO_2-Al_2O_3$ 촉매가 가장 우수한 활성을 보이는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 $NiO/SiO_2-Al_2O_3$ 상에 Cerium, Ferric oxide 조촉매를 첨가하여 SNG 반응 활성 평가를 수행하였다.

  • Synthetic natural gas was producd by the reaction of carbon monoxide and hydrogen via methanation. Ni-Co bimetallic catalyst supported on $Al_2O_3$ for methanation was prepared using deposition-precipitation method. For the comparison, Ni, Co monometallic catalyst was prepared using the same method. The prepared catalysts were characterized by TEM, XRD and TPR and applied to methanation reaction. The catalysts prepared using deposition-precipitation method showed the high metal dispersion. The activity of Ni-Co bimetallic catalyst was higher than that of Ni, Co monometallic catalyst. TPR measurements indicated that Ni-Co bimetallic catalyst had more active hydrogen species than Ni, Co monometallic catalyst due to the synergetic effect in the presence of Ni and Co.

Transformation of C9 Aromatics on Metal Loaded Mordenite (금속담지 Mordenite 에 의한 C9 Aromatics 전환반응)

  • The catalytic activity and selectivity of metal loaded H-mordenite for transalkylation of $C_9$ aromatics were studied in a continuous flow fixed bed reactor under high pressure. Nickel loaded H-mordenite(T-Ni) catalyst showed high activity and slow decay of activity. Molybdenum and nickel loaded H-mordenite(T-NiMo) catalyst also showed high activity and suppressed coking of hydrocarbons. The selectivity of xylene for T-Ni and T-NiMo catalysts decreased with temperature, but that for T catalyst(commercial grade) monotonically increased with temperature within the experimental range. The performance of T-Ni and T-NiMo catalysts was better than that of T catalyst in terms of initial activity and its decay. The addition of Mo improved slightly stability of T-Ni catalyst.
