하향링크의 오수신 확률을 최소화하는 무선 중계기 위치 결정 (Relay Deployment Strategy for Minimizing Outage Probability of Downlink Cellular Systems)

  • 차세대 셀룰러 시스템은 중계기를 이용한 다중 홉 전송을 사용함으로써 신호의 전달 거리가 감소하고 이를 통한 전송률을 증대시킨다. 그러나 다중 홉 전송을 이용한 전달 거리 감소는 외부 셀 입장에서 간섭량의 증가를 의미하기 때문에 중계기의 위치는 셀룰러 시스템 성능에 영향을 줄 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 중계기의 전송 전력과 위치에 따른 간섭량의 변화를 고려하여 최대의 전송률을 내기 위한 중계기 위치를 결정한다. 중계기 위치 결정을 위한 조건은 수학적인 모델로 분석되었고 모의실험 결과를 통해서 그 성능을 검증하였다. 본 논문의 분석에 따르면 하나의 셀의 평균 오수신 확률을 최소화 시킬 수 있는 중계기 설치 지점과 중계기 전송 전력이 존재하며, 주파수 재사용에 따른 셀들 간 간섭이 심각하지 않은 상황에서 중계기는 평균 오수신 확률을 감소시켜줌으로써 셀 용량 증대에 기여하였다. 반면 셀간 간섭이 심각한 경우 중계기의 사용은 오히려 해당 셀의 오수신 확률을 증가시키므로 지양해야 한다는 결론에 도달하였다.

Performance Analysis of Decode-and-Forward Relaying with Partial Relay Selection for Multihop Transmission over Rayleigh Fading Channels

  • Multihop transmission is a promising technique that helps in achieving broader coverage (excellent network connectivity) and preventing the impairment of wireless channels. This paper proposes a cluster-based multihop wireless network that makes use of the advantages of multihop relaying, i.e., path loss gain, and partial relay selection in each hop, i.e., spatial diversity. In this partial relay selection, the node with the maximum instantaneous channel gain will serve as the sender for the next hop. With the proposed protocol, the transmit power and spectral efficiency can be improved over those in the case of direct transmission and conventional multihop transmission. Moreover, at a high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), the performance of the system with at least two nodes in each cluster is dependent only on the last hop and not on any of the intermediate hops. For a practically feasible decode-and-forward relay strategy, a compact expression for the probability density function of the end-to-end SNR at the destination is derived. This expression is then used to derive closed-form expressions for the outage probability, average symbol error rate, and average bit error rate for M-ary square quadrature amplitude modulation as well as to determine the spectral efficiency of the system. In addition, the probability of SNR gain over direct transmission is investigated for different environments. The mathematical analysis is verified by various simulation results for demonstrating the accuracy of the theoretical approach.

  • 다양한 네트워크로 구성된 인터넷 환경에서 오버레이 홉 수를 최소화하는 Chord를 비롯한 기존의 분산 해싱 테이블 기반의 피어-투-피어 시스템에서는 목적 노드까지의 실질적인 질의 라우팅 시간을 줄일 수 없다. 따라서 제안하는 적응적 근접경로 선택기법에서 각 노드는 라우팅테이블의 엔트리 노드 중 지연시간을 최소로 하는 노드를 선택하여 질의 메시지를 전달하도록 한다. 이를 위하여 각 엔트리의 목적지까지의 지연시간을 큐 라우팅 알고리듬과 지수적 최근-가중치 평균을 이용해 예측하여 검색 테이블로 저장하고, 노드들 간 메시지 전달 시 이 정보를 교환하여 추가 부하 없이 검색 테이블에 반영한다. 시뮬레이션을 통해 제안하는 기법이 전채 검색 시간과 흡 간 지연시간에 있어서 근접성을 고려하지 않은 Chord나 CFS의 서버 선택 알고리즘에 비해 월등히 좋은 성능을 보임을 확인할 수 있다.

Secure Communication in Multiple Relay Networks Through Decode-and-Forward Strategies

  • In this paper, we study the role of cooperative relays to provide and improve secure communication rates through decodeand-forward (DF) strategies in a full-duplex multiple relay network with an eavesdropper. We consider the DF scheme as a basis for cooperation and propose several strategies that implement different versions of this scheme suited for cooperation with multiple relays. Our goal is to give an efficient cooperation paradigm based on the DF scheme to provide and improve secrecy in a multiple relay network. We first study the DF strategy for secrecy in a single relay network. We propose a suboptimal DF with zero forcing (DF/ZF) strategy for which we obtain the optimal power control policy. Next, we consider the multiple relay problem. We propose three different strategies based on DF/ZF and obtain their achievable secrecy rates. The first strategy is a single hop strategy whereas the other two strategies are multiple hop strategies. In the first strategy, we show that it is possible to eliminate all the relays' signals from the eavesdropper's observation (full ZF), however, the achievable secrecy rate is limited by the worst source-relay channel. Our second strategy overcomes the drawback of the first strategy, however, with the disadvantage of enabling partial ZF only. Our third strategy provides a reasonable compromise between the first two strategies. That is, in this strategy, full ZF is possible and the rate achieved does not suffer from the drawback of the first strategy. We conclude our study by a set of numerical results to illustrate the performance of each of the proposed strategies in terms of the achievable rates in different practical scenarios.

다중 홉 릴레이 시스템에서 전파 시간 차이가 고려된 적응적 경로 선택 기법 (An Adaptive Path Selection Technique Considering Time Difference of Arrival in Multi-hop Relay Systems)

  • 본 논문에서는 OFDMA(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) 기반 MMR(Mobile Multi-hop Relay) 시스템에서 전파 시간 차이로 인한 ISI(Inter-Symbol Interference)와 ICI(Inter-Carrier Interference)에 대한 영향을 인접 매크로 셀 또는 릴레이 셀에서 전송된 이전 OFDMA 심볼에 의한 ISI와 다음 OFDMA 심볼에 의한 ISI로 나누어 분석한다. 또한, 이를 극복할 수 있는 ISI와 ICI가 반영된 Effective SINR(Signal to Interference plus Noise Ratio) 추정 기법과 이를 이용한 하향링크, 상향링크의 전송 경로 결정 기법을 제안한다. 모의 실험을 통하여 본 논문에서 제안한 전송 경로 결정 기법을 상향링크에 적용할 경우에 OFDMA 기반 MMR 시스템에서 전파 시간 차이로 인한 성능 열화를 크게 완화할 수 있음을 보인다.

  • 핸드오버는 multi-hop relay 시스템에서 이동성을 제공하기 위해 필요하다. 핸드오버의 주요 목적은 MS가 한 BS의 air-interface에서 다른 BS의 air-interface로 이동할 때 연속 연결을 제공하는 것이다. 특히 이종기계간의 핸드오버는 차세대 네트워크에 필수적이다. Mobile WiMAX MMR system에서의 수직 핸드오버 기술은 기술자들이 Mobile WiMAX system을 overlaid cell환경으로 가져오는데 매우 유용하다. 이 기술은 Micro cell(Frequency 1,FA1) and Macro cell(Frequency 2,FA2)사이에 놓인 Ubiquitous 환경에서 시스템 성능향상을 위해 MRS를 다른 시스템으로 핸드오버 하는 기술에 적용될 것이다. 이 논문에서 FA1과 FA2 주파수를 사용하여 제안된 조건들에 따라 MRS들이 수직 핸드오버를 수행했다. 그리고 중심에 있는 Macro cell과 그것을 싸고 있는 6개의 Macro cell들의 BS나 섹터로부터 받은 간섭 및 성능을 분석한다.

수중 센서 어레이에서 고 신뢰성을 고려한 신호 전송 시스템 설계 (A Design of Signal Transport System with High Reliability in an Underwater Sensor Array)

  • A system for detecting underwater target demands a high operational reliability because of the difficulty of maintenance and repair when the system has a few troubles during long operating period. Therefore, in this paper, we have proposed a signal transport system with a high reliability in an underwater sensor array system composed of magnetic and acoustic sensors. In this system, the nodes for signal transport are connected dually each other with single-hop construction and a magnetic sensor is connected to a couple of neighboring nodes. This enables the output signal to transport from a node to the next node and the next but one node. Also, the signal from a magnetic sensor can be transported to two nodes at the same time. Thus, the system with this construction makes possible to transport sensor data to another node which works normally when a transport node or cable have some faults and will operate normally although it happens some problems in a few signal transport nodes and connection cables.

Delay Tolerant Packet Forwarding Algorithm Based on Location Estimation for Micro Aerial Vehicle Networks

  • In search and rescue mission, micro aerial vehicles (MAVs) are typically used to capture image and video from an aerial perspective and transfer the data to the ground station. Because of the power limitation, a cluster of MAVs are required for a large search area, hence an ad-hoc wireless network must be maintained to transfer data more conveniently and fast. However, the unstable link and the intermittent connectivity between the MAVs caused by MAVs' movement may challenge the packet forwarding. This paper proposes a delay tolerant packet forwarding algorithm based on location estimation for MAV networks, called DTNest algorithm. In the algorithm, ferrying MAVs are used to transmit data between MAVs and the ground station, and the locations of both searching MAVs and ferrying MAVs are estimated to compute the distances between the MAVs and destination. The MAV that is closest to the destination is selected greedy to forward packet. If a MAV cannot find the next hop MAV using the greedy strategy, the packets will be stored and re-forwarded once again in the next time slot. The experiment results show that the proposed DTNest algorithm outperforms the typical DTNgeo algorithm in terms of packet delivery ratio and average routing hops.

Fixed Relays for Next Generation Wireless Systems - System Concept and Performance Evaluation

  • This work presents a concept and the related analysis of the traffic performance for a wireless broadband system based on fixed relay stations acting as wireless bridges. The analysis focuses on the important performance indicators end-to-end throughput and delay, taking into account the effects of an automated repeat request protocol. An extension to a MAC frame based access protocol like IEEE 802.11e, 802.15.3, 802.16a, and HIPERLAN2 is outlined and taken as basis for the calculations. The system is intended for both dense populated areas as an overlay to cellular radio systems and to provide wide-area broad-band coverage. The two possible deployment scenarios for both dense urban and wide-area environments are introduced. Analytical and validating simulation results are shown, proving the suitability of the proposed concept for both of the mentioned scenarios. It is established that the fixed relaying concept is well suited to substantially contribute to provide high capacity cellular broad-band radio coverage in next generation (NG) cellular wireless broadband systems.

장기 동작 신뢰성을 고려한 수중 복합 탐지 시스템 설계 (A design of hybrid detection system with long term operating reliability in underwater)

  • Recently, the systems using multiple sensors such as magnetic, acoustic and pressure sensor are used for detection of underwater objects or vehicles. Those systems have difficulty of maintenance and repair because they operate underwater. Thus, this paper describes a hybrid detection system with long term operating reliability. This has a multi-signal transmission structure to have a high reliability. First, a signal transmission & receiving part, which transfers data from underwater sensors to land and receive control message from land through optical cable, has 4 multi-path. Second, the nodes for signal transmission are connected dually each other with single-hop construction and sensors are connected to a couple of neighboring nodes. This enables the output signal to transmit from a node to the next node and the next but one node together. Also, the signal from a sensor can be transmitted to two nodes at the same time. Therefore, the system with this construction has high reliability in long term operation because it makes possible to transmit sensor data to another node which works normally although a transmission node or cable in system have some faults.
