  • The purpose of the research is to explore the development of Beijing fashion industry in the wave of the world-wide creative industries. Two methods are used in this study: discourse analysis and case study. As a form of modern economy, creative industries are the core of originality and intellectual property. It works to develop and use knowledge resource to produce endless new products and new markets, thereby promoting economic and social development. Beijing local garment enterprises should base on the Government's policies and support, creative talent and high technology to cultivate the local fashion brands with the international competition to achieve the clothing industrial upgrading and the building of Beijing as the world-wide fashion capital.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the model to estimate the penetration rate of metal under a high power continuous wave laser irradiation. To estimate it, an empirical modeling is more practical when the penetration phenomena of metal by laser irradiation is too complex to be analyzed by the numerical simulation. When several methods published earlier were applied to our results, we found out that their methods were not appropriate as the model. Therefore, we suggested the new empirical method considering effective intensity as a key variable. As a result, we confirmed that the new method was effective to model the penetration rate of SUS304 metal and expected that it could be available to other metals.

  • This study investigated the radial pulse waveform obtained by a medical pulsimeter sensor. A pulse-sensing part array consisting of multiple Hall devices was located over a skin-contacting part with a hard magnetic material. The periodic movement of the magnetic material of the skin-contacting part affected the magnetic field in the pulse-sensing part array and was detected by multiple Hall devices. The analysis of a radial pulse waveform that is measured noninvasively by detecting the changes of the magnetic field can be used to develop a new diagnostic algorithm of oriental medical apparatus.

  • This paper proposes a new TR-based baseline-free SHM technique in which the time-reversal (TR) property of the guided Lamb waves is utilized. The new TR-based SHM technique has two distinct features when compared with the other TR-based SHM techniques: (1) The backward TR process commonly conducted by the measurement is replaced by the computation-based process; (2) In place of the comparison method, the TOF information of the damage signal extracted from the reconstructed signal is used for the damage diagnosis in conjunction with the imaging method which enables us to represent the damage as an image. The proposed TR-based SHM technique is then validated through the damage diagnosis experiment for an aluminum plate with a damage at different locations.

  • In this study, the discrete ordinates method which has been widely used in the solution of neutron transport equation is applied to the solution of the time dependent radiative transfer equation. The self-adjoint form of the second order radiation intensity equation is used to enhance the stability of the solution, and a new multi-step linearization method is developed to avoid the nonlinearity in the material temperature equation. This new solution method is applied to the well known Marshak wave problem, and the numerical result is compared with that of the conventional Monte-Carlo method.

  • Existing gas fired burners work in the medium wave IR range at $1000^{\circ}C$ and an energy density of $200kW/m^{2}$. The patented porous burner technology reaches the short wave IR spectrum ($1450^{\circ}C$) and comes up to an energy density of $1000kW/m^{2}$. This technology is of great interest for various applications in paper industry. Speeding up existing coating lines can be realized without a major revamp of the line. Main characteristics of this new developed technology enable a better process control. In this paper the porous burner technology for paper industry is evaluated.

  • A piezoelectric paper feeder actuator using Micro Virtual Roller (MVR) is proposed, designed, fabricated and tested. This actuator can drive a sheet of paper forward or backward without any mechanical parts, such as the costly and heavy rollers used in traditional paper feeders. In this paper feeder actuator, two vibrating stators which produce traveling waves are used to drive the paper. The vibrations of the stators are similar to those of piezoelectric motors and follow a similar procedure to move the paper. A feasibility study simulated the actuator in COMSOL Multiphysics Software. Traveling wave and elliptical trajectories were obtained and the dimensions of the stator were optimized using FEM so that the paper could move at top speed. Next, the eigenfrequencies of the actuator was determined. Experimental testing was done in order to validate the FEM results that revealed the relationships between speed and parameters such as frequency and voltage. Advantages of this new mechanism are the sharp decrease in power consumption and low maintenance.

  • For the calculation of the free-surface elevation, a new finite difference scheme is studied where the third derivative term for the wave elevation is artificially added in the Eulerian expression of the free-surface boundary condition. The paper presents a comparative analysis with simulations performed by the classical MAC method. More schematic computations are carried out by changing the submergence-depth and angle-of-attack. The present study shows that this new method is very efficient for the simulation of free-surface elevation around the trailing edge.

  • The new era of multi-messenger astronomy (MMA) has arrived in 2017 with the detection of the binary neutron star merger in both gravitational wave (GW) and electromagnetic radiation (EM). Now, the new run of GW detectors are providing numerous GW events and the number GW events are expected to increase dramatically in future as the GW sensitivities improve. When the GW studies are combined with EM counterpart observations, a great synergy is expected in many areas of study such as the physical process following the compact object merger, the environment of such events (and galaxy evolution), and cosmology, Therefore, it has now become crucial to identify and characterize these GW events in optical/IR EM. In the past, we have been performing optical/NIR observation of GW events using a worldwide network of more than 10 telescopes, and are getting more actively involved in MMA of GW sources. In this talk, we will present our network of telescopes, the EM follow-up observation results of GW events including GW170817 and the O3 events in 2019, and the current issues in MMA. We will also give the future prospects of MMA, showing the forecast for the GW events and the outlook of EM MMA observations.
