A study on the change of traditional colors in modern women's Hanbok (현대 여자 한복에 나타난 전통 색상의 변화에 관한 연구)

  • Modern Hanbok tends to use new colors based on traditional colors and their symbolic meanings. In addition to the traditional colors, various expressions have been increased, it is necessary to consider the color and color trend used in modern clothing. This study focused on the period 2011 - 2020 and analyzed the main color and coloring method of top and skirt by year with 450 data from a total of 81 wedding magazines. The results of examining the characteristics of traditional colors during the target period are as follows. First, the main color of the Jeogori showed a distribution of various colors in the first half, but the main color of the skirt concentrated on black, white and light pink in the second half. Second, while the use of blue and green systems decreased, Dang-ui color changed to warm yellow, green, and red systems. The Baeja used plain dark white in the first half; however in the latter half, they changed to white or accented colors. The one-piece used various colors in the first half, but only black and white appeared in the second half. Third, in the upper and lower colors of Hanbok, the blue-red color, the traditional contrast color of the first half, decreased significantly in the second half. The appearance rate of proximity for the complementary color harmony of white-red color and the adjacent color harmony of white-blue increased.

A Critical Analysis of the Characteristics and Causes of the Changes in Marriage Rates and Recommendations for Family Policy (혼인율 특성, 변화요인 분석과 가족정책 제언)

  • This study analyzes marriage and fertility rates in Korea and makes recommendations for family policy. Based on the 'The Report of Marriage & Divorce Statistics in 2005' and data from the Korea Statistical Information System (KOSIS) of the National Statistics Organization, the trends, reasons for marriage rates changes, and future expectations were critically reviewed. In addition, the relationship between marriage and fertility rates was analyzed. The principle characteristics of marriage rates are as follows: 1) the M-shape of the longitudinal crude marriage rates; 2) the increased age of individuals entering their the first marriage; 3) the increase in remarriage rates; 4) the changes in the patterns of remarriage; 5) the increased in the age at which individuals remarry and; 6) the increase in marriage to non-Koreans. The marriage and fertility rates changes are a permanent normative shift because of 1) later marriage because of women's increased education and labor force participation 2) rational choices about birth control 3) reduced population because of the aging of baby boomers 4) structural changes in the marriage market and 5) egalitarian changes in women's attitudes toward marriage and family. The recommendations for future family policy were as follows: 1) the need for a realistic, long-term family policy because the current marriage patterns will continue; 2) the need to develop new statistics such as fertility rates that are based on marriage cohort or birth cohort because family behavior is a mixture of personal, social and political responses; 3) the need for impact analysis of current family policy about increasing fertility rates; 4) the need for a new family perspective that encompasses diverse marriage and family patterns; 5) the need to focus on men's role in families because of women's changing roles and family interaction patterns and; 6) the need for preventive family policies such as family life education.

New three-dimensional cephalometric analyses among adults with a skeletal Class I pattern and normal occlusion

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to assess new three-dimensional (3D) cephalometric variables, and to evaluate the relationships among skeletal and dentoalveolar variables through 3D cephalometric analysis. Methods: Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans were acquired from 38 young adults (18 men and 20 women; $22.6{\pm}3.2$ years) with normal occlusion. Thirty-five landmarks were digitized on the 3D-rendered views. Several measurements were obtained for selected landmarks. Correlations among different variables were calculated by means of Pearson's correlation coefficient values. Results: The body of the mandible had a longer curve length in men ($102.3{\pm}4.4$ mm) than in women ($94.5{\pm}4.7$ mm) (p < 0.001), but there was no significant difference in the maxillary basal curve length. Men had significantly larger facial dimensions, whereas women had a larger gonial angle ($117.0{\pm}4.0$ vs. $113.8{\pm}3.3$; p < 0.001). Strong-to-moderate correlation values were found among the vertical and transverse variables (r = 0.71 to 0.51). Conclusions: The normative values of new 3D cephalometric parameters, including the maxillary and mandibular curve length, were obtained. Strong-to-moderate correlation values were found among several vertical and transverse variables through 3D cephalometric analysis. This method of cephalometric analyses can be useful in diagnosis and treatment planning for patients with dentofacial deformities.

A Qualitative Research about the CRM Experiences of Apparel Brand Customers (의류브랜드 소비자의 고객관계관리 경험에 관한 탐색적 연구 - 남성복, 여성복, 캐주얼, 스포츠의류 소비자의 비교를 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study were 1) to analyze customer relationship management(CRM) based on the online customer experiences by product types (i.e., men's, women's, casual, sports wear), 2) to analyze CRM based on the off-line customer experiences by product type, and 3) to examine customer purchase behavior of fashion products and internet usage behavior by product types. Survey and 1:1 interview were conducted from January 13th to May 16th, 2005. Six consumers from each brand (i.e., 3 loyal customers and 3 general customers) in a total of 24 customers were selected from each product type. For the data analysis, content analysis and descriptive statistics (i.e. frequency) were used. Among the key study findings first, as a result of the on-line CRM experience, the customers of men's wear preferred receiving customized information through e-mail or SMS service. The customers of sports wear preferred receiving a different level of information and participating in customized product service. Second, as a result of the off-line CRM experience, the customers of men's wear need to be encouraged to join a membership at a sales encounter and the customers of women's wear preferred receiving quick information of new products and participating in a design development planning of the merchandising process. Third, the purchasing behavior of the customers of women's wear are influenced mostly by the salesperson and the store atmosphere when they purchase clothes and the customers of men's wear are price-sensitive. The results of this study can be used when fashion brands perform strategic planning and decision making on CRM.

A Study on the Slacks pattern for Pregnant Women - focused on slacks pattern for mid or second half period of puegency - (임산부용 슬랙스 패턴설계에 관한 연구 - 임신중기.말기의 기본 슬랙스 패턴설계를 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to produce slacks pattern for pregnant women in the mid or second half period of their pregnancy according to the development figure of the body shell from a follow-up measurement. We here would like to produce slacks pattern for pregnant women constructed to fit better with their individual property in their figure and to help maintain the shape and beauty of the lower half of body and would compare it with two manufactured slacks pattern. The results of the study were as follows; 1. As the pregnancy proceeds, the height of natural-waist line went up spontaneously due to the projection of abdominal region, therefore, it was given darts at the front zipper part so that they could maintain a nice figure and to avoid possibility of feeling oppressed. To acquire a slimmer outfit, we made of the slacks-bottom narrower than the width at the knee line, and it worked out. 2. Sensory evaluation for appearance: According to the statistical of the result of 19items on the questionaire, all items showed significant difference(a$\leq$0.01) between the new and A(bunka) B(Kim's pattern) method slacks pattern, with the new pattern having higher scores. The new drafting method proved to be better fitted, to fit the shape of bodies properly and to get a visual effect to look slim.

Mass Customization in the Apparel Industry using New Technologies

  • The purpose of this study is to define mass customization in the apparel industry and to discover, the apparel industry's potential to deliver customized apparel products. Different from product-centered mass Production, mass customization is focusing on customers' unique needs. The goal of mass customization is for customers to find exactly what they want at a reasonable price. Using new technologies such as 3-D body scanning and digital printing, mass customization can give customers customfit and personalized garments. Mass customization can satisfy a customer in terms of personalization, fit and design. Adoption of mass customization will open new opportunities for the apparel manufacturer of the future. Mass customization is a strategy that apparel manufacturers should consider for their goals.

The American Route of the Reconciliation between Work and Family (미국 중산층 여성 일-가정양립 경로의 역사적 형성과정에 관한 연구)

  • This study is focused on the historical route in which reconciliation between work and family has been operating in the United States whose welfare standards are low, by using analytic narratives, from late 19th century to early 20th century. The first step saw an increase in the social advancement of unmarried women due to the increase in employment in the occupation of white-collar, as well as the increase of women in the Academy and in educational institutions. In the second step, the social advancement of married women was increased by the enforcement of the New Deal, consumption capitalism, and World War II. In the third step, the sphere of highly-educated women was expanded to a professional one through active measures aimed at gender equality, and the women's liberation movement of the 1960s took place. The United States' path model was completed in the fourth step. This study show that the most important factors have a significant influence to complete route of the American's Route were individual efforts of women (capacity building through the academic and the powerful women's movement) and the individual employment relationship in labor market. This study shows that individual efforts of women, especially in building capacity through the academic and the powerful women's movement, and the labor market, whose individual employment relationship is well-developed, have a significant influence on completing the route of the highly educated middle-class women in America.

  • The auther has made the oral examination of 523 pregnant women-such as calculus, gingival disease, periodontal disease, and dental caries-who visit the dental department and obstetric department in National Medical Center in Seoul. After the above studies, results of the changes of the pregnant women's oral condition are following. 1. In creasing of calculus deposition due to the changes of saliva components. 2. Increasing of incidence of gingival and periodontal and pathological changes followed by calculus deposition. 3. Incidence of new cavities are not related to the pregnancy, but old cavities have become more progressive in dental caries.

Study of Enhancing Dye Affinity of Fabric using Microwave

  • Of all the ways that energy is consumed within textile industry, few are as high energy-expending as dyeing process. The energy consumption in dyeing process amounts to 77% of total fuel consumption, 54% of total electricity use. A technical development in terms of efficient saving energy and time as well is required in the process of dyeing textiles. Recently, dyeing experts are investigating new technologies can conserve energy grafting into microwaves, radio waves, infrared lights, etc. Dyeing industry in Korea, however, the research related to energy conservation has been rarely conducted. Accordingly, this study aims to examine the possibility where especially microwaves could be applied to reduce the energy use and enhance dyeing process skill. This study performs the experiment in which microwave is employed as heating condition in dyeing and figures out as color yield being promoted, bathochromic effect would be achieved. Applying microwaves in dyeing process is expected to lower the carbon emission, energy and time wasted, ultimately exalt economic efficiency.

Doing Science, Technology, and Women Studies : "With the Body" in-between New Material Feminism and STS (과학기술과 여성 연구하기: 신유물론 페미니즘과 과학기술학의 안-사이에서 "몸과 함께")

  • In recent years, the material has mattered to the humanities and social sciences in the West and feminism is no exception. It is a notable change that feminist analyses, which had previously shown critiques against science and technology, attempted to build new engagements with matter. STS (science and technology studies) has also accumulated scholarships and developed conceptual tools on the thing or the existence itself through "the ontological turn." The objective of this paper is not to introduce new materialism or new material feminism in full, but to reveal the possibility and potential of doing science, technology and women studies by selectively relying on the achievement of new materialism feminism. This article shows a way to study women's practice of science and technology by analyzing the case of plastic surgery practices through the ontological concepts of STS, particularly those of Annemarie Mol, Karen Barad, and Charis Thompson, and proposes a new engagement among new materialism, feminism, and STS. This article is organized as follows. First of all, after briefly discussing main issues in new material feminism, I will show the limitations of previous feminist studies of plastic surgery under the light of new material feminism. The rest of the article introduces the conceptual tools of ontological STS, describes plastic surgery practices with those tools, and finally provides their feminist implications.
