  • A new driving circuit for scan electrode in AC PDP has been developed. The number of scan driver switches can be reduced to one half of the conventional circuit. Capacitance between the electrodes is utilized. Experiments and analysis of the new structure has been carried out to confirm its robustness.

  • Aconiti Tuber (Aconitum spp. tuber, Ranunculaceae) which contains bioactive but toxic alkaloids has been used as analgesic. cardiotonic, diuretic. and stimulant. We have previously reported two new C-19 norditerpenoid alkaloids and five known norditerpenoid alkaloids. Further study has now led to the isolation of two new norditerpenoid alkaloids. 14-O-anisoylneoline and 14-O-veratroylneoline. (omitted)

  • Singlet oxygen-mediated photooxidation and subsequent triplet oxygen insertion of 11-hydro-13-(methyloxy)carbonylartemisinate (4) yielded a diketo compound 5 as the major product instead of the expected 11-hydro-13-(methyloxy)carbonylartemisinin (6). The formation of the unexpected product was in part consistent with the mechanism proposed by Acton and Roth and is the first isolation of the diketo compound from the photooxidation of artemisinate.

  • A Dual Sensor Wiener Filter technique was used to improve the image quality of the scanning type digital radiographic system (resolution and SNR). In this method, two images were acquried simultaneously using two sensors with high and low resolution and SNR values. Using the cross Power spectrum between dual sensor outputs of the same chest radiographic image. we design a new type of Wiener Filter and implement it with fast algorithm. We compared the performance of this new dual sensor filter with conventional single sensor filters (Wiener Filter and Parametric Projec- tion Filter) . In simulation studies, it is shown that this new method has SNR improvement of 1-3 dB better than conventional filters.

  • Based on the device physics, a new I-V equation for TFTs is derived and a simple parameter extraction method is suggested. The new method gives more physically meaningful threshold voltage and mobility, and the obtained values can be directly used for the TFT device modeling.

  • This paper presents a new method to characterize sag event. Power quality monitoring algorithm to analyze PQ problems is described. This paper shows that conventional characterizing method which makes use of only sag magnitude and sag duration has some limitations. It characterizes non-rectangular sag as more severe one. In addition, it can't count on voltage tolerance characteristics of each apparatus. In order to solve these problems, this paper present a new characterizing method and it properly characterizes non-rectangular sag considering the voltage tolerance characteristics.

  • Amanita (Agaricales, Basidiomycota) is one of the most well-known genera composed of poisonous mushrooms. This genus of almost 500 species is distributed worldwide. Approximately 240 macrofungi were collected through an ongoing survey of indigenous fungi of Mt. Jeombong in Inje County, Korea in 2014. Among these specimens, 25 were identified as members of Amanita using macroscopic features. Specimens were identified to the species level by microscopic features and molecular sequence analyses of the internal transcribed spacer and large subunit of nuclear ribosomal RNA. We molecularly identified 13 Amanita species, with seven species matching previously recorded species, four species (A. caesareoides, A. griseoturcosa, A. imazekii, and A. sepiacea) new to Korea, and two unknown species.

  • Urban Informatics, the application of data science methodologies to the urban development and planning domain, has been increasingly adopted to improve the management and efficiency of cities. This paper introduces state of the art use cases in major cities including New York, London, Seoul and Amsterdam. It also introduces recent advances in using Big Data by multi-lateral institutions for poverty reduction, and startups utilizing open data initiatives to create new value and insights. Preliminary research performed on using Seoul's open data such as building permit data and health code violations are also introduced to demonstrate opportunities in this relatively new but promising area of research.
