In the case of the feeder bus route choice, it is more desirable to choose the route by treating as a single route linked from origin to destination than the whole network. This study is to establish a concept that frames the feeder bus route choice technique for the change of the existing single bus route or the creation of the new feeder bus route. The concept of the feeder bus route choice technique in this study is not to frame the whole bus network but to frame a single route to a unit O-D pair. So, this study has the assumption that does not consider the waiting and transfer time at the bus stop. This system technique consists of the following phases: I) limitation of the road network examined for the study, ii) enumeration of the appropriate candidate routes by the permissive route length, and iii) determination of the optimum bus route by the route evaluation value.
The route finding analysis is an essential geo-related decision support tool in a LBS(Location based Services) and previous researches related to route guidance have been mainly focused on route guidances for vehicles. However, due to the recent spread of personal computing devices such as PDA, PMP and smart phone, route guidance for pedestrians have been increasingly in demand. The pedestrian route guidance is different from vehicle route guidance because pedestrians are affected more surrounding environment than vehicles. Therefore, pedestrian path finding needs considerations of factors affecting walking. This paper aimed to extract factors affecting walking and charting the factors for application factors affecting walking to pedestrian path finding. In this paper, we found various factors about environment of road for pedestrian and extract the factors affecting walking. Factors affecting walking consist of 4 categories traffic, sidewalk, network, safety facility. We calculated weights about each factor using analytic hierarchy process (AHP). Based on weights we calculated scores about each factor's attribute. The weight is maximum score of factor. These scores of factor are used to optimal pedestrian path finding as path finding cost with distance, accessibility.
On-demand routing protocol in ad hoc network is that establishes a route to a destination node only when it is required by a source node. But, it is necessary to reestablish a new route when an active route breaks down. The reconstruction process establishes another route by flooding messages from the source to the destination, cause not only heavy traffic but also long delays in route discovery. A good method for analyzing performance of protocols is important for deriving better systems. In this paper, we suggest the numerical formulas of a representative on-demand routing protocol AODV, ARMP, and RRAODV to estimate the performance of these routing protocols for analyzing the performance of these protocols. The proposed analytical models are very simple and straightforward. The results of analysis show good agreement with the results of computer simulations.

We suggest an enhanced automatic route shortening method for dynamic source routing (DSR) protocol. DSR is a request / response based protocol which has low routing overhead owing to node movement. The original automatic route shortening is performed on the only nodes that belong to the source route of packets. On the contrary, our suggested method allows all neighbor nodes hearing the packet to participate in automatic route shortening. It makes all possible route shortenings be performed. So we maintain maximal short routes of ongoing data connections. Simulation results show that our method pays small extra overhead for ARS, but increases the ratio of packet transmissions and ARS' are performed from 2 to 5 times as much as original ARS.
Shortest path problems are among the most studied network flow optimization problems, with interesting applications in various fields. One such field is the route determination service, where various kinds of shortest path problems need to be solved in location-based service. Our research aim is to propose a route technique in real-time location-based service (LBS) environments according to user's route preferences such as shortest, fastest, easiest and so on. Turn costs modeling and computation are important procedures in route planning. We propose a new rest modeling method for turn costs which are traditionally attached to edges in a graph. Our proposed route determination technique also has an advantage that can provide service interoperability by implementing XML web service for the OpenLS route determination service specification.
This paper introduces a new approach to modeling relative distance among nodes under a variety of communication rates, due to node's mobility in Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANETs). When mobile nodes move to another location, the relative distance of communicating nodes will directly affect the data rate of transmission. The larger the distance between two communicating nodes is, the lower the rate that they can use for transferring data will be. The connection certainty of a link also changes because a node may move closer to or farther away out of the communication range of other nodes. Therefore, the stability of a route is related to connection entropy. Taking into account these issues, this paper proposes a new routing metric for MANETs. The new metric considers both link weight and route stability based on connection entropy. The problem of determining the best route is subsequently formulated as the minimization of an object function formed as a linear combination of the link weight and the connection uncertainty of that link. The simulation results show that the proposed routing metric improves end-to-end throughput and reduces the percentage of link breakages and route reparations.
Ad Node transmits packets to a destination node using routing function of intermediate nodes on the path in Ad Hoc networks. When the link to a next hop node in a path is broken due to the next hop node's mobility, a new route search process is required for continuing packets transmission. The node which recognizes link fault starts a local route recovery or the source node starts a new route search in the on demand routing protocol AODV. In this case, the new route search or the local route search brings packet delays and bad QoSs by packet delay. We propose RPAODV that the node predicts a link fault selects a possible node in neighbor nodes as a new next hop node for the path. The proposed protocol can avoid path faults and improve QoS.
A network connectivity has been regarded as a key element to strengthen a business competitive power in the aviation industry, so many airport authorities try to attract the new airlines and scheme out new air routes. With this trend, a study for an induced travel demand estimation methodology is needed. This study introduces a demand estimation method, especially for a new air route to a promising destination. With the results of previous studies, the derived demand is classified into four types - Local, Beyond, Behind and Bridge. The explanatory variables are established for each type of demand and the main independent variables are composed of distance, ratio of detour, and relative capacity compared with other airports. The equations using such variables and statistically significant coefficients are suggested as the model to make an estimation of derived demand for a new route. Therefore this study will be expected to take an initial step for all related parties to be involved more deeply into developing new air routes to enhance network connectivity.

This paper proposes a new algorithm for the energy constraint ad-hoc network which efficiently spread the energy usage over the network through the backup route scheme in order to increase the network lifetime. Recently, the various energy-efficient routing algorithms based on On-demanding method are proposed. Among them, PSR(Power-aware Source Routing) increased the network lifetime through the periodical route alternation depended on the use of the battery while DSR(Dynamice Source Routing) uses only the route selected during the route discovery phase. But PSR has a problem that it increases the route overhead because of the frequent flooding for the route alternation. For solving this problem, we propose HPSR(Hierarchical Power-aware Source Routing) which uses the backup route set during the route discovery in order to alternation the route without the flooding. HPSR increases the network lifetime due to the frequent route alternation using backup route while it decreases the routing overhead due to the reduced flooding. In this paper, we also prove the performance of HPSR through the simulation using OPNET.
BGP route flap damping(RFD) was anecdotally considered to be a key contributor to the stability of the global Internet inter-domain routing system. However, it was recently shown that RFD can incorrectly suppress for substantially long periods of time relatively stable routes, i.e., routes that only fail occasionally. This phenomenon can be attributed to the complex interaction between BGP path exploration and how the RFD algorithm identifies route flaps. In this paper we identify a distinct characteristic of BGP path exploration following a single network event such as a link or router failure. Based on this characteristic, we distinguish BGP route updates during BGP path exploration from route flaps and propose a novel BGP route flap damping algorithm, RFD+. RFD+ has a number of attractive properties in improving Internet routing stability. In particular, it can correctly suppress persistent route flaps without affecting routes that only fail occasionally. In addition to presenting the new algorithm and analyzing its properties, we also perform simulation studies to illustrate the performance of the algorithm.
