멀티레벨 인버터를 위한 간략화된 공간 전압벡터 변조 방안 (Simplified Space Vector PWM Method for Multi-level Inverters)

  • The multi-level approach seems to be best suited to high power, high voltage ac drives with low torque ripple and fast dynamic response. If high control performance is required, space vector control becomes desirable, and the task becomes time critical. In this paper, a simplified space vector PWM method for the control of a three level inverter is proposed. As the PWM is simple in structure, it is easy to implement and the fluctuation of the neutral point potential of DC link can be supressed effectively. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed PWM strategy can be applied to high power, high voltage inverter systems. And its application to multi-level inverter is easily done on the same principle.

  • This paper proposes the pulse width modulation (PWM) control strategy for low-speed operation in the three-level neutral-point-clamped (NPC) inverters based on the bootstrap gate drive circuit. As a purpose of the cost reduction, several papers have paid attention to the bootstrap circuit applied to the three-level NPC inverter. However, the bootstrap gate driver IC cannot generate the gate signal to the IGBT for low-speed operation, because the bootstrap capacitor voltage decreases under the threshold level. For low-speed operation, the dipolar and partial-dipolar modulations can be the effective solution. However, these modulations have drawbacks in terms of the switching loss and THD. Therefore, this paper proposes the PWM control strategy to operate the inverter at low-speed and to minimize the switching loss and harmonics. The experimental results are presented to verify the validity on the proposed method.

  • The inverter is an essential part of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive systems. The performance of an inverter is greatly influenced by its modulation strategy. Using a proper management of modulation strategies can guarantee high performance from a PMSM under various speed conditions. Switching between modulations is a pivotal technique that determines the performance of a PMSM. Most works on hybrid methods focus on two-level induction motors drive systems. In this paper, in order to improve the performance of PMSMs under various speed conditions, a hybrid method of a pulse width modulation (PWM) control scheme based on a neutral-point-clamped (NPC) three level topology was proposed. This hybrid PWM modulation comprised space vector PWM (SVPWM) and selective harmonic elimination PWM (SHEPWM). Under low speed conditions, the SVPWM is employed to cause the PMSM to start smoothly, and to obtain a rapid response from the control system. Under high speed conditions, the SHEPWM is employed to reduce the switching frequency and to eliminate particular current harmonics. Moreover, the harmonic characteristics of different modulations are analyzed to obtain a smooth transition between the SHEPWM and the SVPWM. Experimental and simulation results indicated the effectiveness of the proposed control method.

  • The main thrust of this paper is to investigate acceptable supply air conditions of a dedicated outdoor air system (DOAS) for highrise apartment buildings. As for a typical $132-m^2$ apartment unit, it was assumed that centralized DOAS-Ceiling Radiant Cooling Panel was installed. Transient behavior and control characteristics of each system were modeled numerically using a commercial equation solver program. The optimized dew point temperature of the DOAS was discussed on the basis of the ASHRAE standard 62.1-2007 and the current Korean ventilation standard for apartments. It was found that the optimized dew point temperature of the DOAS supply air accommodating total latent load of a space is $11-12^{\circ}C$ and the appropriate supply air temperature of the DOAS is $11-12^{\circ}C$ in cooling period and neutral temperature of $18-20^{\circ}C$ in intermediate period.

  • This paper proposes a new hybrid five-level voltage-source inverter topology, based on the conventional five-level active neutral-point-clamped topology (5L-ANPC), where the lower number of switching devices is required, resulting in saving the cost. The operating principle and control method of the proposed topology is described. The comparison of THD, power losses, loss distribution, and cost of components are evaluated among the proposed topology, the 5L-ANPC and 5L-DCI (diode-clamped inverters) topology.

  • 본 논문은 계통연계형 3-레벨 NPC 인버터 시스템의 중성점 전압 불평형 제어기법을 제안한다. 3-레벨 NPC 인버터는 직류단 커패시터를 2개로 나누어 사용하기 때문에 두 커패시터간의 전압차이가 발생할 수 있으며 이는 출력전류의 왜곡을 야기한다. 본 논문에서는 복잡한 모델링을 통한 제어기 설계나 공간 벡터 전압 변조 방법의 변형 없이 간단하게 시간오프셋을 추가하여 N형과 P형의 small 전압 벡터의 인가시간을 조절함으로써 중성점 전압 불평 형을 제어하고, 복잡한 계산 없이 적절한 시간오프셋을 구한다. 10kW급 계통연계 3-레벨 NPC 인버터 모델을 기반으로 수행된 시뮬레이션 결과를 바탕으로 제안하는 제어기법의 타당성을 보인다.

  • 본 논문은 3레벨 NPC 인버터의 중성점 전위 변동 시 퍼지제어기를 이용한 중성점 전위 제어 방법을 제안한다. 오프셋 전압을 퍼지제어기의 입력으로 하여 공간벡터의 스위칭 타이밍의 조절변수를 출력함으로써 기존의 오프셋 전압의 복잡한 수학적 모델링 없이 쉽고 간단하게 중성점 전압을 제어한다. 제안하는 제어기법의 우수성을 보이기 위하여 10kW급 계통연계 3-레벨 NPC인버터 모델을 기반으로 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다.

  • In realizing a three-level GTO inverter, we should keep the voltage balancing of DC-link capacitors and consider minimum on/off time of GTO thyristors in order to make the same blocking voltage across each device and to minimize the harmonic components of the output voltage and current. In this raper, a new PWM scheme based on space voltage vectors, by which it is possible to keep neutral-point voltage and avoid narrow pulse, is presented. Experimental results verify that the proposed PWM control scheme is suitable fur hish power and high voltage three-level GTO inverters applied to induction motor drives.

A Real-Time Method for the Diagnosis of Multiple Switch Faults in NPC Inverters Based on Output Currents Analysis

  • This paper presents a new approach for fault diagnosis in three-level neutral point clamped inverters. The proposed method is based on the average values of the positive and negative parts of normalized output currents. This method is capable of detecting and locating multiple open-circuit faults in the controlled power switches of converters in half of a fundamental period of those currents. The implementation of this diagnostic approach only requires two output currents of the inverter. Therefore, no additional sensors are needed other than the ones already used by the control system of a drive based on this type of converter. Moreover, through the normalization of currents, the diagnosis is independent of the load level of the converter. The performance and effectiveness of the proposed diagnostic technique are validated by experimental results obtained under steady-state and transient conditions.

  • 분산발전 시스템에서 계통연계 인버터는 계통에 전력을 주입할 뿐만 중요부하에도 안정된 전력을 공급하는 역할을 한다. 하지만 기존의 계통연계시 전류제어모드로 동작하고 계통이상 발생시 전압제어로 전환되는 제어방법으로는 모드 전환시 과도상태가 발생하여 중요부하에 심각한 영향을 줄 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 모드 전환에 따른 과도상태를 최소화하기 위해 끊김없는 모드 전환을 위한 계통연계형 3-레벨 NPC 인버터의 제어기법을 제안한다.
